We have celebrated birthdays the past 2 years , and both times enjoyed our hostess, their delicious food and many tea varieties! So thankful ,especially this year, that they could be open to accommodate our visiting dates.

What an amazing experience!! I LOVE tea and old English traditions, so when my Mom and I stumbled upon this cute little place in Calabash I got really excited. I have a lot of food allergies and foods that trigger migraines, so I've grown used to ordering plain tea or water and a salad with no dressing at restaurants while watching everyone else eat "fun food". I was a little nervous upon seeing the menu for their tea services and realizing that doing this here might mean paying for two people, even though I wouldn't really be able to eat anything. My Mom and I decided to go in and ask if there was a way I could -just- order tea, or if there was a way we could order tea service for one, so I could have the tea and my Mom could have all the food treats, explaining my 10 different food allergies/sensitivities. Instead of bristling this unusual request Kathy immediately began to run through a list of foods she had that she thought might be safe for me and offered to make foods -especially- to suit my needs!! Her sign specifically states strong encouragement for reservations and we hadn't made any- we came in mostly for information; However, there just happened to be one table left for two people, so Kathy told us she'd be more than happy to accommodate us and encouraged us to pick out some hats if we wanted, and take the table that was available. What a collection of fantastic hats and accessories!! We weren't really dressed for high tea, but the hats and small knitted boas helped us feel like we fit in anyway. The staff was so kind and attentive, in spite of the fact that we didn't have reservations and I had a lot of special needs. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. I have never been so well accommodated ANYWHERE. Not only did she accommodate all of my needs, but she made sure to present the food in a way that was similar to what everyone else was having! She made salad dressing that would work for me so I didn't have to eat a dry salad and she made chicken salad with oil instead of mayo to accommodate my egg allergy. She also happened to have vegan, gluten free bread on hand to accommodate my egg and dairy allergy, so I could actually eat the cute, tiny sandwiches and tapenades that everyone else was having. Her staff was careful to point out what was "me safe" and what was for my Mom, so I was actually able to enjoy just as many of the treats as everyone else!! It might not seem like a big deal to eat what everyone else is eating, but it was SUCH a huge deal to me!! When Kathy came over to ask how things were at the end, I nearly burst into tears in the midst of expressing just how wonderful it was to feel included. On top of all that, the place was precious. The atmosphere was relaxed, but cheerful and excited. The tea was, of course, amazing. I will certainly return when I'm in the area next summer, and hope to make this an annual tradition. I highly recommend this for anyone that loves tea, high tea service, or just a fun relaxed dress up adventure with friends!

We make a point to come to this tea room every summer! We always make reservations for the Ultimate Tea. This year they had 15 new teas to the menu! The owner, Kathy Cody, always remembers us and treats us like family. Her food is very detailed and the taste reflects it! You must come!

A timeless and smartly done experience. The staff and Kathy are generously welcoming and gracious. You will feel as if you are having tea with close friends. Do not miss the opportunity to spend an afternoon with the ladies at Calabash Gardens. You'all wish you had discovered them sooner.

What a wonderful experience! The ambiance, the service, the food was excellent! There will be a return trip for us, in the future. For a little while, all the world's problems were put on hold for us to diffuse and relax. Thank you, so much, for a much needed break and pampering!!!!

We love going to tea and this place is one of the better places. There are different levels of tea service you can order: A cream tea which is scones and fruit, a light tea which includes tea sandwiches and fruit, or the Ultimate Tea which is a four course tea service. You must make reservations if you are going to have any of the tea services as they make only what they need for the day.
The Calabash Garden Tea Room is set among other little shops which look like cottages. When we walked in we were greeted by the owner who took pride in her little establishment. At the table were china plates, a cup and saucer, as well as a water glass painted with flowers. On top of that water glass was a lemon squeezer in the shape of a bird. Very pretty and unusual.
Our server went over the food menu then handed us a tea menu of 60 some teas from which to choose. She then directed us to the back room which held a variety of hats and scarfs for those who wish to dress up.
I got the Queen Catherine's tea which is a blend of various black teas. DH got the Maple Tea. DD1 got the Apple Cider tea. DD2 chose the Raspberry Tea. One pot of tea comes with the service. If you would like more than one pot, there is a charge.
Our first course was a spring salad served with their homemade dressing. It was fresh and light. The next course were the sandwiches. I don't recall all of them, but they were all outstanding. The cucumber sandwich was served with a sprig of dill. The apricot was tied with a little ribbon to look like a package. There was a deconstructed BLT which was a bite of pure deliciousness, another sweet sandwich, and a ham salad tea sandwich. I do not like ham salad and if given a choice I would not choose ham salad. The ham salad served here was absolutely DELICIOUS!. I could have eaten an entire bowl of it. Yet, I do not like ham salad.
The next course were lavender white chocolate scones, mock devonshire cream, and lemon curd. Fantastic! The final course consisted of a mini raspberry lemon cupcake, dark chocolate dipped strawberry, and a little skewer of grapes and blueberry with white chocolate drizzle.
The food, the service, and the atmosphere were above par. If we are in the area again, we will definitely go back.

My daughter and I have visited twice and love the cozy atmosphere here and the presentation of the 'tier' of goodies. The food is outstanding on every level..her blueberry lemon scones are the best I have ever tasted and also her cupcakes are amazing. You must visit if you are in the area.

Calabash Garden is exceptional. by far the best tea room I've ever been to. Wonderful presentation, an abundance of teas to choose from, delicious food, whimsical atmosphere, etc. Today I enjoyed the house blend (Apricot Melange). it paired well with all of the sandwiches and the pineapple coconut scone. I also sampled a cup of the Lemon Chiffon Cake tea. It was delicious! A wonderful dessert tea. I enjoyed it so much, I ended up purchasing some to take home with me. Once again, another wonderful experience at the Calabash tea room. can't wait to go back.

Visited Calabash Tea Garden this afternoon and enjoyed the ultimate tea immensely. I had the cucumber mint tea, and it was absolutely delightful! The perfect summer blend. Sandwiches were delicious. my scone was pineapple coconut and it was divine! Finished with an assortment of desserts that were 'truly scrumptious,' as they say. Have visited the tea room multiple times and have never once been disappointed. A lovely experience that I highly recommend.

We have been to half a dozen tea rooms in several states. The Calabash Garden Tea Room is by far the best. Everything was just perfect from the beautiful setting, to the soothing background music, to the service, and of course the food.
The tea itself was excellent with about eighty different choices.
We had the ultimate tea which included tea, salad, scones, tea sandwiches, and desert. We added the tomato soup which was fantastic.
If you have the chance to go to this wonderful tea garden by all means go!!

We love visiting tea rooms when we explore vacation spots. We saw this one on the internet and decided to make a reservation for the Ultimate Tea. Everything was spectacular - the tomato soup was great, the salad wonderful and the tray of sandwiches, scones and desserts incredible! They accommodated our dietary restrictions without any issues as well. The atmosphere was exactly what I love in a tea room. A huge range of teas to choose from will keep you coming back to try them all. We will definitely want to come back and highly recommend a visit for anyone.

Enjoyed this unique and cute tearoom with my two granddaughters and a friend in December 2015. Would definitely enjoy returning in the future. The pumpkin Apple soup was delicious as well as the scones, sandwiches and pastries! Lots of choices of tea to choose from. I would recommend calling for a reservation.

Atmosphere, decor, tea selection and presentation was all exceptional. Such attention to every detail! Spoil yourself and get the afternoon tea with three tier tray. The assortment of delightfully delicious sandwiches include both traditional and non-traditional. Everything about Calabash Garden Tea Room is first rate and top-notch.

Wide variety of black, green, white, herbal and other teas, over 70 to choose from. Won't restate all the praises others have shared. it was a delightful place. My mother in law and I enjoyed it. Good food although I had hoped for a a bit heavier mini sandwich such as a chicken or tuna salad. Delicious food, delicious tea, attentive service, attractive typical tea house decor with cute gift items available for purchase. We will return and recommend to others.

Two friends from PA and OH had the luncheon at this very refined tea room today.
We were greeted and taken to the hat and boa room where we chose a hat from a wide variety. Lots of teas to choose from, salad with Kathy's homemade dressing, excellent 3-tiered tea tray that included finger sandwiches, scones, and decadent desserts. The atmosphere was charming down to the chandelier made with teacups and saucers. Friendly service added to our enjoyable lunch.

My newest favorite place: the Calabash Tea Room!! Cozy, sweet, and beautifully appointed! I had the pleasure of visiting here with seven other ladies from Myrtle Beach today! You thought of everything!! From pink boas to pumpkin scones! A lovely time was had by all in attendance.

A lovely tea room in a quaint little cottage. Decor is lovely with lots of pretty gifts and items for sale. Food items of dainty, delicious sandwiches, scones and desserts are very attractively displayed. Even though the servings appear small, there is plenty of food to make a full meal. Lots of varieties of teas to choose from. Servers are friendly and service is elegant - you feel like you're the lady of the manor being catered to. And the price is very reasonable compared to some other tea rooms. Definitely someplace I will return to whenever I'm in the area. If you enjoy high tea, go to Calabash Garden - you will not be disappointed.

I went down to the 'Bash to visit my best friend's mom. She took us to the Calabash Tea Room, and I was so excited. There were hats and boas for customers to wear, everything was just beautiful. I had a hard time deciding on what tea I wanted because there were so many to choose from, but our host helped me pick out the right one for me. I drank the whole pot! The food was AMAZING! I loved everything about it. From the presentation, to the taste, to lasting fullness. I was not disappointed at all. I even bought some tea and scones to bring back to Jersey. Kathy is a delight to talk to. I could tell that she really loves what she does, and that she cares about the experience her customers receive. The Calabash Garden Tea Room is definitely on my must visit list when I go back down.

I have been to the Tea Garden several times and every one of those experiences have been wonderful. I tend to take girlfriends there when they visit and have the ultimate tea - very impressive. Almost too pretty to eat. LOL. And the homemade scones ... yum. The selection of tea is abundant and everyone that I've personally tried has been delicious. My hubby and I were there on Sep 30 and had the salad with a half sandwich (turkey and brie). Perfect amount and oh, so good. I don't know how Kathy comes up with her delectable recipes, but we love them. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. The decor is whimsical and there are even hats/boas for guests to where while enjoying their tea parties.

What a lovely experience! From the tea to the food to the ambience and the staff, if you're anywhere near this tearoom it's worth the drive! It was well worth the one hour trip. We had the ultimate tea, with the tearoom's signature tomato bisque soup and special salad dressing. Not to mention the special sandwiches and moist homemade scones. Sure to delight, with a selection of hats and accessories to add to your experience!

Wow What an amazing time we had at this Tea Room ! The STaff and Service is great but..... the food !!!!!!!! What can I say the Scones melt in your mouth it was a white chocolate lavender . The tea sandwiches so creative one of them was called a Thanksgiving Everyday and it was Thanksgiving dinner explosion in your mouth ! turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce all in this neat little bite size sandwich. Another sandwich I loved was the summer BLT tea sandwich which was so uniquely presented and also delicious .........the sweets are perfect from the chocolate dipped strawberry and petite cupcakes with little rosettes on top ...with a perfect pot of tea. I can't wait to go back when my Mom is in town.

This tearoom never disappoints. The tomatoe soup that starts the ultimate tea is my favorite. This time a strawberry soup was an option and it was delicious as well. We loved the Thanksgiving sandwich and of course the scones. We Celebrated a special birthday and it was perfect from start to finish. Can't wait to go again.

I visited with a dear friend while vacationing in North Myrtle Beach -- Calabash is very near. We couldn't have had a nicer time. The food, ambience, tea related items for sale, and overall creativity were excellent. The tomato bisque was exquisite! We went back again before week's end. Thank you for a marvelous time.

What a wonderful experience we had at this quaint little tea room in Calabash. We have been coming here since they first opened and have never once been disappointed in the food, tea or service. Kathy, the owner always comes out to greet us and chat for a few minutes. The servers are attentive and the presentation is right out of a magazine. I must add that their sandwiches are not the typical ones you find in other tea rooms. Kathy has a way of blending flavors that delicious, always making you want to come back over and over again. And we do! We never leave without taking some scones and our favorite teas home to enjoy when we can't be present. Kudos to these ladies who always make our time spent at the beach a wonderful experience.

We have been coming to Calabash Garden Tea Room for several years on our annual Myrtle Beach trip. Always love the atmosphere, the service, friendliness, the delicious food (tomato soup...love) and of course the tea. We try different teas each time we come and make sure we have different teas at our table so we can all sample the others. Today during our visit, I tried one of the new ones and didn't care for it very much. Our server was right there to make it stronger and told me if I still didn't care for it, she would be happy to get me another kind as she just wanted me to enjoy my experience. After she checked back, I did have her get me another kind that was wonderful. We enjoyed ourselves so much and loved the scone of the month as well, so very tasty. Thank you for always making our experience the best and we will see you again next year.

Recently visited the tearoom while vacationing in the Myrtle Beach area. We took my granddaughter for her first tea and we could not have chosen a better place! Our food was delicious, the atmosphere charming and the service outstanding. We all chose hats and boas to wear for teatime. They made the children's tea so special with pink lemonade in a teapot and heart shaped sandwiches and scones! We will definitely visit again!
-

The tea was delightful and delicious, from soup (extra) to chocolate covered strawberry. Kathy, the owner, was friendly and helpful, as was her staff. No room for any complaint. The tearoom is feminine, and she has unusual accessories for the tea lover. We enjoyed our experience and will return

My husband and I relocated to the Grand Strand last year from England, so our expectations of tea rooms are not of the cutesy kind. We expect great English teas and have been missing some of the wonderful cream teas we are so accustomed to. We were told about the Calabash Garden Tea Room and decided to give it a go. The delicate tray of sandwiches we received was almost too pretty to eat, but amazingly, the entire meal was even better than its perfect presentation. I haven't had soup so warming, so comforting, so lovely since I bid farewell to my loved ones across the sea. This may have been our first visit to the Calabash Garden Tea Room, but it is the start of a tradition for us.

My husband took me to the Valentine's Tea and it was fabulous! I loved the charming atmosphere and the way everything was presented. It was all so pretty. The food was delicious and you can taste the love of everything being made fresh to order. We had special desserts for Valentines and the chocolate was amazing! I will definitely be going back!!

My best friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the Valentine's Day Tea at this charming little tea room. From the savory tea sandwiches to the white and dark chocolate cherry chip scones, the chocolate dipped strawberries, even the mini chocolate cupcakes topped with a fresh raspberry could not have been better. I had the chilled strawberry soup and my friend had their tomato bisque with herbs and both were so good that we wanted to ask for another cup. Everything is so fresh and presented in such a pretty way. How lucky the locals are to have a restaurant of this cailber right in their neighborhood! The sweetest Valentine's Day!

From the minute you walk up to this precious little cottage under the trees, to the greeting by the staff you immediately relax and take a step back into time. I have been visiting Kathy and Anna's tea room for the last eight years or so and always try to bring as many friends and or family members as I can to experience the magic. I was not disappointed today! Everything was lovely from our gracious server to the tasty teas we chose, to the yummy tier of treats. Today's pineapple scones were to die for!! If you are looking for an experience with memories that will last a lifetime, you must try this tea room. It is well worth it. There are hats and boas to borrow to further enhance the experience of a lovely afternoon.

There was so much variety. I would recommend this to all.

We stumbled upon this gem on our last visit 4 years ago and were excited to visit again this trip . We had reservations for the 11:30 Ultimate High Tea seating . When we arrived, our table was set and waiting for us. They had an adorable tea cup and saucer special for my daughter (17 months) so she could participate in our tea as well. They had a regular chair and a special princess pillow for her to sit on. The food was Amazing!- you should try the tomato bisque and even the children's tea had quite a lot of food on it and presented SOOO special and beautiful. With a heart shaped scone! All of our tea sandwiches were delicious and fresh ,scones and desserts to die for . The selections of tea is huge! The gift shop has been moved into the tea and we found some wonderful items to take home and remind us of our visit. If you enjoy tea, do yourself a favor and make a reservation here. We'll definitely be back when we visit Myrtle Beach again . What a delightful afternoon!

We visit the Calabash Garden Tea Room every time we come to South Carolina. OMG! They paid attention to every detail. The tea sandwich selection is all different the smoked salmon and capers, roast beef with horseradish sauce on whole wheat fingers and the Thanksgiving everyday sandwich with turkey stuffing and cranberry sauce so creative and so delicious ! just to name a few . The presentation of the tier is so beautiful, and tea selection I think over 80 to choose from. I had the chilled strawberry soup and the others had the tomato bisque soup both to die for. Kathy's scones are the Best I have ever had. Then to finish chocolate dipped strawberries and chocolate raspberry cupcakes with fresh raspberry on top and fresh fruit all while sipping my favorite pot of tea. I'm in heaven in my favorite tea room. The service is always impeccable. Not to be missed.

This was my first experience of a 'Tea' and I was very impressed with the whole event. My wife and I were with two other couples visiting the Calabash area and one of the other ladies had gone to many teas in her travels. We booked the date and when we arrived were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. I wasn't sure what to expect but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Food and tea was really good and left feeling full and have already began to plan a return trip. While we were there, the ladies were offered hats and boas and the guys were offered a tie. It was fun to see the ladies dress up and we joined in after some discussion.

What to say about our experience at Calabash Garden Tea Room - BEAUTIFUL!!! Took my mother-in-law to the beach for a couple of days and finished with a visit to the Tea Room, it was like icing on the cake. The atmosphere is very welcoming, service outstanding, very personal and attentive to our likes and needs. We had the Ultimate Tea with soup, will recommend. The food and tea were delicious and what an assortment to choose from! Not only is the Tea Room wonderful but the area it is in and the other shops there make for a delightful time! When back in area, will definitely plan to visit again!!

After experiencing our first tea party at Biltmore Estate in 2008 we search while on vacation for another tea experience. We were not dissappointed when we discovered the Calabash Tea room while on vacation in South Carolina. Just over the North Carolina Boarder a few minutes from North Myrtle Beach we found the most quaint amazing tea room. This is our yearly tradition and have taken my mother and father in law a couple of times for a memorable experience. We return yearly for the best ultimate tea. The service and food is outstanding. Thank you Kathy for the memories!

This is the fourth year that I've taken my grandchildren, who visit every summer from Ohio, to this darling tea room. This is the first thing they ask us to do when they arrive and always their favorite experience. From the little ribbon sandwiches to the amazingly moist and warm scones, there's no better way to spend quality time with my family. Kathy and Anna always take the time to fuss over the girls and their hats and boas are the icing on the cake. I can't wait to visit again with my lady friends during the holidays when the tea room is decorated. Just magical. I love their sweet little bakery and cupcake/espresso bar that's new to the courtyard this year as well.

This tearoom has become a family tradition for us! This is the first place my 10 year old grand daughter wants to visit each and every summer while visiting us here at the beach. The atmosphere, food, selection of tea and fabulous service make it truly one of a kind. I've been to tea rooms all over the country as well as in England and I can't tell you how happy I am to have one of this caliber so close to my home.

The decor of this tearoom is as worth the trip as the tea and food! They are easy to find, right on the main road in Calabash, with plenty of parking that is easy to access. Very friendly service. They offer a nice children's Ultimate Tea, too! We go back every year while vacationing in North Myrtle Beach. This is by far my favorite tea room!
-

I live in Calabash and every time our friends visit we always make time for the ultimate tea. Also, our granddaughters visit for a week every summer and they can't wait until our trip to the tearoom. We love dressing up with the hats and boas. The outside is adorable and the inside is like walking into a Victorian sitting room. The food is wonderful and make sure you order the soup. Make this a part of your Myrtle Beach experience. You will make it an annual event.

While looking for things to do near the beach, I stumbled across this gem! Who would have thought that amid the golf courses, seafood restaurants, and beach outfitters would be Tea Heaven! I took my mother, my nieces, and my sister-in-law, and we had a lovely time. They had never been to High Tea before and enjoyed the fancy setting very much. I loved the lemon squeezers shaped like birds on the water glasses, perfect for southern ladies cooling off from the humid, noon day weather. I bought two to take home, as well as some of the fancy handkerchiefs they used for napkins (very clever!). My 9 year-old niece loved the kids meal, raving about the Nutella and Fluff sandwich shaped like a heart, but most of all she loved the large chocolate dipped marshmallow. There was a huge selection of tea, plenty of non-caffeinated choices. The food was amazing, light scones that melted in your mouth, perfect little sandwiches with a nice variety of flavors, including the southern classic pimento cheese. They even offered gluten-free scones. My family enjoyed dressing up with the hats and boas available. Mom took home a jar of the salad dressing, my sister-in-law took home some tea, and we all took home wonderful memories!
-
Eileen
What a delightful experience. The Ultimate Tea included a pot of tea for each of us, a wonderful salad, delicious finger sandwiches, amazing scones, and decadent desserts! Every detail is perfect from the roses on the tray, to the lovely linens and, of course, the choice of boas and hats to wear! What fun. YUM!!

My mom lives in Myrtle Beach, SC and we had tea here the day before Mother's Day. Well worth the drive! The food was delicious and the portions were perfect, including a lovely salad. I even bought some dressing to take home. There was a great variety of teas and the staff was friendly and helpful. Having hats and boas for the guests was a nice bonus. Be sure to put this tea house on your to do list when you're in the area!

Absolutely wonderful! I have been several times and it is always delicious. Went today and it was the best it has ever been! I live at North Myrtle Beach, SC and always take visitors there for this special treat. If you are in this area, it is definitely worth your while to visit this tea room.

The Calabash Garden tea room is one of the best tea rooms my wife and I have ever visited. Unlike so many other so called “tea rooms”, this tea room serves traditional English tea with finger sandwiches, scones, and deserts. Everything they do is done with excellence. But, most of all, the food is delicious! Treat yourself when you are in the Myrtle Beach area and visit this tea room. You will be glad you did.

What a delightful way to spend an hour--or two--with friends and great service and variety of teas to choose from. The choice of teas was fantastic and the atmosphere was charming and quirky. Loved the antique handkerchiefs as napkins.

A great way to spend a special afternoon with friends. The décor was just charming as were the hostesses. We enjoyed the ultimate tea, with the most difficult part being choosing from the many different varieties of teas. If you like girly-girl activities as much as I do, this place is the bee's knees!

Judy
Our group of 11 women had the ultimate tea and soup du jour, tomato basil with a perfect blend of herbs on a very cold January day. The home made salad dressing was excellent and available for purchase. We each had a different tea at our table and had plenty to share. The scones are so light and tasty. Kathy has the perfect recipe for them. Anna was knowledgeable and recommended tea choices from the many varieties. Attention to detail - we enjoyed the lemon bird press, the tea warmers, tea pot covers and lovely china. It was also fun to wear the boas and hats.
-

We live in the area and delight in bringing visitors to this lovely tearoom. We always make use of their fashion closet and select fancy hats to wear during our sumptuous tea. Love the teas, food, service and decor.

My first time to a tea and I had a wonderful, romantic, traditional, enchanted experience. We will return every visit to the beach. I highly recommend this place.

A most delightful, relaxing and satisfying afternoon tea in every way! My husband and I will now make this a part of our yearly visit to this area. Nothing less than excellence in all areas...atmosphere, service, tea selection and quality. Presentation of the 'Ultimate Tea' was one of the best I have encountered. Owners and staff make you feel most welcome and special. The added touches from the hats and boas you may choose from to wear and enjoy, the lemon birds on your water glasses, and roses added to the tiers of food presentation are just a few items that let you know your hosts have taken extra care to make your time with them a special moment you can reflect on with a smile.
-

My mother and I had a memorable visit to this lovely Victorian tea room complete with hats for you to choose from to enhance the experience. Fabulous food and over 200 teas to choose from. For a very special afternoon, visit for the high tea!

I and my dearest friend had a wonderful, serendipitous birthday lunch at the Calabash Tea Room on the recommendation of nearby Silver Coast Winery. The food was authentic and exceptional. The tea list was extensive and carefully selected. The staff is extraordinarily friendly knowledgeable and helpful. The atmosphere was special. I can't wait to bring my British friends too.

I have been to several Tea Houses including Ireland and this was the best experience ever. My sister and I and 2 friends were there to celebrate a birthday-They have never been to a Tea-they loved it so much they are telling their friends and planning future birthdays, mother days etc. Every women should have at least one experience of a Tea Room and I suggest Calabash Tea Room. The owners are lovely and have a great variety of hats that you can wear.

This is a special experience. I've been coming here for a few years now and my friends and I make a point to schedule time to get together to drive up here. The teas are perfection, the food is dreamy, and make sure you get their tomato soup because its the best I've ever had in my life. The last time I went one of the owners gave me a tea cup of theirs. These are the sweetest people and you can't tell they're genuinely happy to be there. The location is even dreamy, its in a tiny little cottage style house and everything is just perfection adorable and dreamy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This was a great addition to our annual beach trip! 5 of us, including my daughter, her best friend, my sister and my nephew attended high tea for the first time and came back totally delighted. My interest in tea time has been sparked and I will surely return to Calabash Garden Tea room!

Wonderful. Today was our second visit to Calabash Garden tea house. From the moment we walked in and smelled the freshly baked scones until we finished our sweets and savories we were having a great time. It will be a great vacation memory.
-
Laura
We stay in Calabash every summer. This year my mother-in-law suggested visiting the Garden Tea Room to celebrate my daughter's 6th birthday. We couldn't be more pleased. The children's offerings were fantastically suited. The decor was adorable. The hats in back made for good fun while we waited. Each setting was served in a unique tea set. The scones were certainly our favorite! Even the men were pleased!

This is a must do when my family comes to visit each year. It has become a tradition to 'Take Tea' at the Calabash Garden Tea Room. Although we have gone to Tea at other place, this is far and above all the rest. The food, the service and the fantastic selection of teas is just amazing. They have over 70 different blends of teas and some very refreshing iced teas to choose from. Whether or not you are a tea lover, you will have plenty of choices. Be sure to make reservations because it is extremely busy not only in the summer but most of the year as well!
-
Phyllis
Every time I visit this tea room I have the most wonderful afternoon. This tea room is in a league of it's own. The food it amazing, I have been to many tea rooms in my travels and have never had better. The service is always fantastic. Anna, Kathy and Bridget make sure you always have the best experience possible. Kudos to these ladies for their efforts and ability to make everyone feel welcome and at home.

Our family party of three adults enjoyed a delicious Apricot Melange tea along with the Ultimate Tea (high tea) - sandwiches were creative and varied, the scones were flavorful and light and the sweets, fruit centered and delicious. The whimsical addition of hat selections prior to tea afforded many laughs. We are returning next month to vacation and will definitely come back for another visit.
-
Becca
My mother, grandmother, and I have made coming to The Tea Room our annual tradition. I live in New York and visit my grandmother in Calabash about twice a year. We make it an absolute point to visit the Tea Room. Since day 1, I have stuck to my Apricot Melange tea. It is, in my opinion, the very best of the best. I highly recommend this place to everyone in this area!!!

I am a 'local' and this was my third visit to this charming tea room. The Calabash Garden Tea Room is the perfect place to get away from the busy world and relax in an atmosphere of quiet music, enjoy an excellent variety of teas (I had the Coconut Almond - wonderful), and savor the delicious food. The strawberry soup was a unique surprise and their scones are to die for. I love all the things that make up this 'tea' - the unique tea pots, lemon squeezers, handkerchief napkins, mixed cups/saucers/plates to the hats and boas you are invited to wear during tea. Kathy, the owner, has done everything to make you feel pampered and special. The service is very good, but not rushed or intrusive, and the teas and food, well they are delightfully delicious! I highly recommend this charming and whimsical tea room!

I recently took my niece to the Calabash Garden Tea Room for her birthday. We stayed in Myrtle Beach, but the drive was less than 15 minutes, which is wonderful if you want a few fun hours out of the sun! My niece is 10 and was completely delighted with the experience! The selection of teas was wonderful- I believe there were close to 80. I would highly recommend both the Bubblegum Tea (for both kids and adults) and the Vanilla Grapefruit Tea. My niece loved dressing up in the hats and boas; however it would have been nicer if they were not in the restroom for us to try them on. The tables were far enough apart to have conversations, but close enough to enjoy other guests' selection of hats. The food was very good, maybe a little less than I have seen in other tea rooms, but delicious none the less. The service was excellent and all of the staff were friendly. We definitely plan on making this an annual tea trip when we visit Myrtle Beach.
-
Michelle C
Had a wonderful, relaxing meal with delicious tea and impeccable service. The decor from the table settings to the walls was spot on and made for good conversation. I came home with some special tea available from the adorable Gift Shop. When my Ya Ya sisters and I visit NC again, we'll be sure to come back. It will be our tradition!
-

Four of my friends and myself went to the Tea Room while on a girls beach trip. We had such a good time the first visit, we decided to go again. We dressed up with hat's and boa's to heighten the experience. The food was great (especially the cupcakes) and the service was exceptional. I would recommend it to everyone.

Calabash Garden Tea Room surpasses any other my tea room experience. I brought my best girl friend to tea room and she was surprise at the wonderful experience and everyone was wonderful.
I wish my mother was around so we could have enjoyed the experience together.

took my Mom and fiance' for Mothers day. Exceeded my expectations! Now we want to take my sister who is a French teacher and has been to many teas across the pond. I know she will be impressed.

There is something special about being pampered in an intimate space that is so charmingly decorated that you can't help but take a deep breath and sigh with pleasure. The Calabsh Garden Tea Room delivers all of that and a full tea service that is scrumptious from start to finish (and offers a gluten-free service that doesn't cut corners). As a full time resident, it's a joy to have this teashouse right around the corner!
-
Allison G.
I've visited the Calabash Tea Room multiple times while visiting family in NC. Though it's a 45 min drive from family, it's totally worth it!! The ambiance is quaint, the food delish and the owners/staff are extremely friendly! I honestly can not think of a single negative thing to say about this tea room!
-
Diane
I have made repeat visits with lots of friends, granddaughters(5 and 8 years old--heart shaped PB&J were a big hit!)and my two daughters to this tearoom--probably because we are NEVER disappointed. Cathy and Anna are gracious and friendly and the food (starting with the tomato basil soup--Yum!)is the best of any tearoom I have been too. I have been to lots of tearooms in many states and I am not exaggerating--Calabash is the best for ambiance, food and friendliness! You will not be disappointed.

Jennifer
I visited the Calabash Garden Tea room last week while on vacation and had a wonderful time. I went with my mother and my two daughters and we enjoyed the tea, the food, and the overall charm of the place. The gift shop is across the way and I stopped off for some souvenirs and tea to bring home. Overall we had a great time. I look forward to returning the next time I am in Calabash.

My experience was delightful. I will absolutely return. My very dear friends suggested The Tea Room and I am so glad we went. From the moment we entered until we left, the atmosphere and service was the best. Treat yourself with something different and marvelous.

Walk into the cottage of the Calabash Tea Room and begin a journey of enchantment, an extensive variety of teas, great tea sandwiches, salad and homemade tomatoe bisque soup. The tea room is the most charming and delightful experiences you can have. I live local and go with a group friends for every special occassion you can imagine. Bring your cameras as the host's have tea hats, boas, gloves and all the props to bring you into a Victorian Era in England. Kathy and Anna are special people and make all their visitors feel welcome and special.

I had a delightful time. The service is friendly, the tea room is charming and the teacups, saucers and napkins reminded me of my mother and grandmother it brought back sweet memories. I cant wait to bring more family and friends here to enjoy a wonderful lunch. The chilled strawberry soup was a nice surprise & the Valentine scone was delish! Not to mention the smoked salmon sandwich among others that were just wonderful on our tier. This is a very special place! Dont miss out when your in town.

I took my best friend here today, she was visiting me from New York State. What a treat!! The food at this tea room is like no other tea room I have ever been to. The mini key lime pies on the dessert part of the tier were so good, we wanted more!! Luckily, we were able to purchase the larger version at their cupcake shop on our way out of Calabash. What a wonderful way to spend a cold rainy day or any day for that matter. It's a very busy place so I always make a reservation and you should too.
-

This was my second visit to this lovely Tea Room and I was even more impressed the second time. The food, the teas and the service are outstanding. It's a great place to meet with girlfriends or to have a special outing with my granddaughters.

We visit the Calabash Garden Tea Room every time we come to South Carolina. This time we planned a bridal shower. What a great job ! They paid attention to every detail. The tea sandwich selection was delicious all different the smoked salmon with toasted sesame seeds and roast beef with horseradish sauce on whole wheat fingers were two of my favorites and the service impeccable. The presentation, tea selection, and Kathy's Secret Garden Salad Dressing is the best. All the staff were attentive and organized. I loved the oversized chocolate dipped strawberry and red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. The lavender white chocolate scone was the best I have ever had. There is also a great selection of hats for everyone to enjoy. This is a Tea Room not to be missed.

Linda

I recently hosted a bridal luncheon for my niece at this lovely tea room and it was beyond perfect. Our guests were delighted by the selection of teas, delicious salad dressing, finger sandwiches and petit desserts. And did I mention the best scones ever? This was quite simply the best choice for this very memorable occasion. I can't wait to do it again next year when my youngest niece ties the knot!!

This is our second visit to the Calabash Garden Tea Room this month. On our first visit my friend and I wanted to take our mothers out for a special event and selected the Ultimate Tea. The food was absolutely fantastic. Fresh and flavorful. Anna and Kathy were the best hostess's. The atmosphere of the tea room was special. There were hats and boas to dress up in. The decor is fantastic. These two ladies know how to make you feel so special. Our second visit was with 19 people from our condo buliding. We raved so much about our experience that everyone wanted to see for themselves. We all had a fabulous time and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you Kathy and Anna for a wonderful experience.

My friend and I wanted a special afternoon with our mothers so we took them to the Calabash Tea Garden for Ultimate Tea. It was truly an experience in elegance and both mothers were incredibly pleased. Anna and Kathy explained the presentations and selections, advised us on the hats and boas and explained about the foods we would sample. It was a marvelous experience and made the day with our mothers a very special, memorable treat. We will be returning again soon. Thank you, ladies, you made the afternoon perfect!

What a wonderful environment to be in. We had such a great time playing dressup with hats and boas! The tea choices were amazing and delicious. The chef made a personal lunch for us for special dietary needs and it was out of this world.
Thank you for the wonderful experience.

I have food allergies. The owner took the time to put together a special menu for me that I was able to enjoy with the rest of my party. I was so impressed! Not only was it out of her way to do this but it was so incredibly delicious! I would recommend this tea shop to everyone. Please let her know in advance your food allergies. :-)

My best friend and I are in our early twenties, and since these college years have taken us apart and taken up a lot of our time, it always means a lot for us to share a lot of meaningful moments together when we are both home in myrtle beach, sc. Especially now, since she will be moving to Europe at the end of this month for a year. From our very first visit to the Calabash Garden Tea Room, it was love at first sight, and we knew we had discovered a hidden treasure that we'd be visiting as often as we could. She and I are both admirers of all things beautiful, vintage, and dreamy.
You can tell that their food is made with a lot of care and love, from the beginning to the very end, it's art. We are both so overly infatuated with their tomato bisque, if I lived closer to the tea room I would be addicted. Every little finger sandwich, every scone, every little sweet on that three tiered serving tower is a little creation of beauty. The decor is so feminine and sweet, with a bit of eclectic charm, with it's non-matching teacups and saucers and varied shabby chic furnishings. One of my favorite things is the way that they have the bottoms of trees and walkways outside lined with broken saucers, plates, and tea cups.
You can tell that the owner, Kathy, has really put her heart and soul into creating a place that's very rare, special, and unique. She even gave an adorable little tea cup and saucer to my best friend as a gift and wished her well on her move. She is really such a sweet and warm lady and it was so nice getting to talk with her. We really only have good things to say about this lovely little place, it's such a gem, we love it so much. Thank you for making our experience so special every time we visit.
-
Matthew
This was my first tea room experience and let me tell you the bar has been set very high. I was very impressed with the service. Our servers(one of which was co-owner) were pleasant and talkative. There were 60 types of tea to choose from. I ended up picking the Spring Cherry which was excellent. The food selection was also very delicious. I would highly recommend the strawberry soup! My family vacations in Myrtle Beach every year. Hope to visit again next year and try to make this a regular vacation stop. Thanks!
-
Leslie
What an Amazing little gem of a tea room I found in Calabash while passing through! The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing. The Ultimate Tea and pineapple coconut scones were to die for! and blueberry hibiscus iced tea perfect.
My server Bridget was so sweet and helpful.
Can't wait to go back with friends.
-
Margie
Once again we had a wonderful experience at the Tea Room! My five and seven year olds loved the hats and boas and they enjoyed their special kids platters. The ladies are so friendly and they even offered the kids extra sandwiches when they finished their plates! I can't wait to go back next year with the kids and my mom.
-
Rose
Year after year, this tea room just keeps getting better. The food is consistently good as is the service and atmosphere. These ladies make everyone feel special and give them an experience to remember. Every summer since they've been in Calabash,my daughter, daughter-in-law and and five grandchidren insist on having tea and lunch when they are here on vacation. Their smiles are priceles. I do suggest you make reservations. We're not the only ones who adore this little gem. I look forward to bringing my girls here for many years to come and I am so appreciative that there is a place like this right in my little town.
-
Danyelle
I was delighted by the British influence on the teaware. Flowery cups, pretty delicate napkins, and ceramic teacups . I loved the eccletic set of plates and teacups . It gave a fun and homey feel since was not uniform. It kind of reminded me of the Weasley's kitchen (for all of those who are Harry Potter fans). I buy high quality tea and drink several cups a day. I was impressed by the quality. My only disappointed was the clotted cream. It tasted nothing like the original. Instead of tasting of cream it tasted of almond.
-
Laurie K.
My family and I went to the Calabash Tea Room expecting to be amazed based because of their ranking. However, we were extremely disappointed. The food was only average and the atmosphere was severly lacking. We have visted many tea rooms, most ranked lower on tea map, but all of them out ranked this tea room. We will neither go back nor recomend this tea room to anyone.
-
Donna Blakely
Visiting with Kathy and Anna is always a pleasure! Enjoyed the Ultimate Tea on Saturday and as expected, everything was amazing. The scones and mini-cupcakes were so very yummy! When I think of the tea experience, this is how I want it - garden tables meticulously decorated with vintage linens and china tea cups; hats and feather boas available for wear to fully experience this event! This little gem is absolutely precious and if you are anywhere near the Calabash area, you must visit.
-
Trisha McGinnis
We travel to the area from Wisconsin every year and last year we found Calabash Garden Tea Room and fell in love with it. We typically try a different tea room every year; however we liked this one so much we had to return. The atmosphere and presentation is everything you would think of in terms of southern hospitality. The food is delicious and the variety of teas is amazing~something for everyone no matter what your tastes are! This place will always be on the top of our list to visit.
-
Sue Feeheley
What fun for a couple of mature ladies to don hats and boas to sample some tasty delicate sandwiches and scones topped off with mouth watering sweets and a hearty cup of tea. We will return form SC for sure.

How very wonderful this experience was for my friend and I. We arrived right before closing and we are both gluten free. We were treated so special. Our hostess went out of her way to bake us marvelous cranberry GF scones and catered to our every need despite having to stay open. The atmosphere is so elegant and cozy at the same time. The service is outstanding. Don't get to NC often, but will make it a regular stop when I do. Thank you so much!!

I visit the Calabash Garden Tea Room whenever I'm in South Carolina. I am always impressed by the details of this tea room and the exceptional variety of teas, sandwiches and finger desserts. The owners go out of their way to be sure you are completely satisfied. There is no stone unturned here. A The Victorian setting is simply delightful. Go and enjoy you won't be disappointed.

I had my daughter's first birthday party here and it was wonderful! She was treated like a little princess. The owners made a special plate for her that included a heart shaped jelly sandwich, a mini chocolate chip scone, a sparkly rice krispy treat and fresh fruit. The best part was the chocolate velvet cupcake with hot pink frosting! The staff even put a candle in it and sung 'Happy Birthday' to her. My mother in law and I enjoyed the ultimate tea where we shared bite sized gourmet finger sandwiches, fresh-baked almond scones with a delicious lemon curd, and petite desserts including chocolate dipped strawberries! The Hibiscus Blueberry Iced Tea that we sipped was perfectly concocted. We took so many great pictures, even my daughter's doll had a chair at the table! This is the perfect place to take the people you care about most...it is THAT special.

I live in California and the thing to do is always try the local tea rooms when vacationing. While in North Carolina, my family and I went to Calabash Garden Tea Room. It was my favorite tea room experience thus far. It was better than The Fairmont in San Francisco!
It is what a tea room should be. Comfortable, beautiful, warm, accommodating to diets, and a memorable experience.
They have hats, gloves, and scarves. Dressing up makes it so much fun.
-
Terri Gurganious

Not only was the food delicious (the scones to die for....aaaaah!), but we had so much fun dressing up in all of the hats and boas that were supplied for guests. I arranged for 16 women to attend an Ultimate Tea Party at the Calabash Tea Garden. The owners were so cheerful and absolutely accommodating to all of us. Kathy's baking and cooking is superb using the best and freshest ingredients. We even bought scones to take home. The hats and boas added to a fun afternoon. I highly recommend this if you are in the area.

Upon entering this tea room you'll feel like you're entering a fairy tale. The decor, the food and service are all unbelievable! I don't think I have ever been to a tea room that pays this much attention to detail from the ribbons on the sandwiches to the tea light warmers to the dress up clothing, these ladies have done everything right. Be sure to make a reservation as everytime I have been there it's been very very busy. Apparently the secret is out and everyone knows how wonderful this tea room is!!

Such a nice way to spend an afternoon! My sisters and I enjoyed the Ultimate Tea. All of the food that was prepared was thoughtful and very tasty. We have been to several tea rooms before and this far exceeded our expectations. The mini pumpkin cheesecakes dipped in chocolate were a perfect ending to the meal. I highly recommend this tea room to anyone who appreciates a unique, relaxing dining experience. The feather boas and hats in the back are available for guests to wear during tea - so make sure if you come to bring your camera! We have some really great pictures!

An amazing cozy little 'hole in the wall.' I was not expecting such exquisite food from this garden cottage. I ordered the light tea which was a selection of finger sandwiches - all were unique and tasty in their own right! My pot of tea and scone were also exceptional. I enjoyed the Hot Cinnamon variety - I picked a bag of it loose from the gift shop to impress my holiday guests on my way out. Ladies - this place is not to be missed. Bring your girlfriends and 'get wild' in the dressing room! I have lived in Calabash for a couple of years and regret not coming in sooner. Can't say enough good things about this place!
-
Barbara
The perfect place to warm up on a chilly fall day! The African Autumn tea was a perfect choice recommended by our lovely server. My friend and I made reservations for the Ultimate Tea which came highly praised by some of the local ladies. We were so content with our dainty finger sandwiches, spiced scones, and with the selection of sweets! Our experience was absolutely wonderful. We were able to dress up in the back room and dine in festive hats, boas and white gloves! Next time we will bring our camera... I am already dreaming of the next time.

September, 2010-What a delightful tearoom and wonderful experience. The choice of teas was vast-something for everyone! I loved the food and the attention to detail (finger sandwich tied with raffia!)was a sure sign of the love the staff have for their tearoom. It was a very satisfying and calm tea and we will return.

This may seem strange, however I work for Kathy and Anna at the gift shop and I can tell you first hand that they are all about the customer satisfaction. They truly love what they do and they strive to make everyone that visits the tearoom feel special and welcomed .I am a Southern girl to the bone and they are actually bringing some tea culture into my life. They don't just strive to make you feel special they think you really are special because that is who they are. I feel especially blessed as I am their neigbor and they felt compelled to employ me in a rather stressful timein my life it only exemplyfies their generosity. They are not here for the money or the glory of being the #1 tearoom they are here to give you the fun and delight of a great dining experience. I couldn't ask for better employers or friends. Oh and let's not forget Trish who is beautiful and also very PERSONABLE and just happens to be expecting the up and coming best tearoom waitress ever!!!!You go Girls!!! Annie

Outstanding service and impeccable attention to detail! I was brought here by one of my friends who happens to be a tea room regular - I was so delighted upon being treated to the 'Ultimate' tea, which included sandwiches, scones, and desserts. I especially enjoyed the pot of Rose tea and the autumn scone. We even got to dress up in the ladies' room which had a HUGE selection of hats, boas, and gloves. The staff was so warm and friendly, and we weren't rushed a bit. It was truly a relaxing, spirit-lifting afternoon.

I guess you can say I am a summer regular here. Kathy and Anna have a wonderful place here. Super friendly and offer a wonder tea as well as a lunch menu. The scones and goodies are terrific as well as the salad dressing. We even had a birthday party here for Elaine who loves all things 'tea.' I would recommend this tea house to anyone who happens to be in the area or who wants to make a special trip.

This is the best tea experience I've ever had! It's a beautiful little tea room in what looks like an old house, complete with garden party hats and feather boas to borrow. The food was so incredibly delicious! We had the white chocolate and lavender scones, and they were the most amazing scones I've had in my entire life. Better than the Plaza hotel in NYC. The owner was wonderful, very pleasant and nice, as was our server. I recommend the Calabash Garden Tea Room to anyone within 100 miles of Calabash!

Absolutely loved every single second of this tea room experience! Wish we had a place like this back in Ohio where we're from! The strawberry soup was the perfect start to our meal, and the salad dressing was so delicious that we took some back to our condo to have for the rest of the week in town. Iced Tea was perfectly fruity - I believe it was a Raspberry herbal. And I could go on for days about each sandwich, the scones, and the desserts. The jeweled toothpicks were so perfect for the fruit. We hope to goodness you all will be here when we come next year!
-
Sandy
I came here the other day for the first time with a old friend of mine. We had heard great things about the tea room over the past year or so since we have a summer home in Ocean Isle. All of the amazing reviews are spot on! I can't say enough about the quality of the food and service. We can't wait to come back next summer! For those of you who live close, you are sooooo lucky!

This Tearoom is a 'must visit' for anyone visiting the Myrtle Beach area. The ambience, food, especially the scones and tea sandwiches, the large menu of teas (my favorite- Ragamuffin), the service, and presentation are all impeccable. I'm fortunate to live 3 miles from this 'Oasis of bygone days' and always bring my out of town visitors for a delightful treat. Do your self a big favor and visit the #1 tearoom in NC--you won't be disappointed.

I had a lovely afternoon at this quaint tea room with a good friend last week. FRom the moment we entered the tea room, I was enthralled! The food was not only delicious, but the presentation was wonderful. Everything was perfect. I highly recommend it! You couldn't meet nicer owners and staff. The selection of teas was outstanding and the scones were outragous! It a must visit when you are in Calabash!

Came here with a group of gals to enjoy the Ultimate Tea. It was such a fun and yummy experience! You could tell that Kathy (the chef) puts so much thought and care into her food. And the scones were AMAZING! We even took some to-go. Although my friends and I don't get the opportunity to all get together very often, this tea room is definitely a good excuse to see each other more frequently!

This was THE MOST relaxing dining experience that I have ever encountered! Everything from the peaceful background music to the delicious selection of finger foods warmed me from the inside out. My friend and I had a lovely time over tea. We will be back soon!

Just got back from this tea room and really can't say enough about the experience. The tea variety was great, a wide selection and everything we tasted was spectacular and well made. The food is incredible. Make sure if you plan a visit to call ahead and make sure you go on a day they are offering the tomato soup. I told the chef there that the tomato soup changed my life and I was completely serious. The atmosphere and waitstaff were both great and naturally you can pick up bags of your favorite teas on your way out. I was wondering on the way home how many ratings this place would have on TeaMap and I'm not surprised at all to find it not only has a lot of ratings, but that they are all very high. It certainly deserves to be No. 1 in NC! If you are nearby stop sitting around and GO NOW!

A lovely tea room with wonderful food, perfectly brewed tea and attentive service. Be sure to check out the dress-up room when you go!

Calabash Garden Tea Room is a welcome oasis of calmness that hints of bygone days when friends leisurely savored a good cup of tea and conversation. The setting is not overly fussy but one still can enjoy the inherent formality of the tearoom experience. The tea and food are excellent, the prices competitive and the staff exemplifies Southern hospitality. My friend and I left eagerly anticipating our next visit.

I took my daughter and granddaughter here for lunch while they were in town visiting. We weren't sure what to expect, considering we had never been to a tea room before, but we were so happy with the entire experience! All of the finger sandwiches were unique and delicious, and the scones were the best we've ever had! We left feeling very satisfied with both the food and the service.

My daughter (8 y/o) and I had a wonderful time at the tea room. I live in Raleigh, and can't wait to go back. I have ordered more dressing and tea. Thank you for having such a wonderful place for a mother and daughter to visit!

Not your average tea room! The owners have gone above and beyond to make this place a delicious and cozy little getaway. The cold peach soup with rose petals, tea sandwiches tied with ribbons, and lemon poppyseed scones were all wonderful. Our Hawaiian iced tea reminded me of an island cocktail! My company was so impressed!

I found the Calabash tea room through a google search, and boy am I glad I did! We were staying in North Myrtle Beach, so it was only about a 15 min drive for it, and it was definitely worth it! We had a picky eater with us, so I called ahead and the staff was incredibly accomdiating in finding things she would eat. We started off with their soup- there were three off us so we got the chilled strawberry, chilled cucmber, and tomato bisque. All of them were amazing, but the cucumber was the best. Next we had the ultimate tea with a delicious selection of sandwhiches, white chocolate blueberry scones, and desserts including mini red velvet cupcakes...it was SCRUMPTIOUS! The atmosphere was so relaxed, not at all stuffy like some tea houses, and the staff was incredibly friendly and wonderful. I cannot say enough about our visit, we will definitely be back whenever we are in the area!

I had my daughter's 6th birthday party here - what a dream come true! The girls played dress up in a room supplied with hats, boas, and gloves by the tea room. They dined on heart shaped pbj sandwiches, frosted marshmallows, and chocolate-dipped strawberries. My daughter didn't want to leave! The owners did a lovely job taking care of every last detail. A very memorable day for all of us! Highly recommended!!

Such a special and inviting place! My sister and I came here during our visit to the Myrtle Beach area from New York. Everything was perfect from the relaxing ambiance to the delicious food. We can't wait to come back!

My friends and I stumbled upon the Calabash Garden Tea Room this Spring, and we couldn't have been more pleased! The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was very friendly and open. We will definitely go back there the next time we are in town. We had such a great time, and we couldn't stop giggling at each other dressed up in the hats and boas! One of the best afternoons I have had in a long time!

My grandmother was visiting from Colorado and i was trying to think of something special for her to say thank you for all she has done for me and my twin boys. I found the Calabash Garden Tea Room on the internet and decided to give it a try. What an experience! My grandma was grinning from ear to ear the whole time. She said it was the greatest present i could have ever given her for Mother's Day. The soup was fantastic. My grandmother had the tomato and i had the strawberry. Her soup was better but they were both very tasty. Then came the salad which was wonderful, the dressing was so tasty. Next came out tea sandwiches, scones, and dessert. Which was all sooooo good. My grandma had 2 pots of the the Irish Breakfest tea and I had 2 pots of the Mocha Roca. Both teas tasted great. I felt like I was 5 again having a tea party with my grandma. The staff was very friendly. The place was beautiful. I was so much more impressed then I thought I would be. This was a great experience and we both cannot wait to do it again. Thank you!

Today was a magical day! Several of my friends and family went to the Calabash Garden Tea Room for a Mother's Day celebration. When we walked in the door my Mother said 'what a precious place' .......Everything was amazing, we all dressed with hats and boas and Kathy took pictures for us. The tea selection is wonderful. I had the fresh brewed Spring Cherry iced tea and it was delicious . The Ultimate Tea was the Ultimate! the most wonderful selection of tea sandwiches , my favorite was the crab in filo cups, and the warm cinnamon butterscotch scones and desserts just melted in my mouth. I loved the mini stuffed red velvet cupcake. The tier was so artfully displayed we almost didn't want to eat it. If you have not been to this tea room , you must go! You will feel like a princess and you will leave feeling uplifted .

Growing up, my mom and I used to ALWAYS have our tea together on Saturday or Sunday (or sometimes both!). Then my parents moved to Calabash (from New York) almost six years ago, so no more tea with Mom....
...until my family and I visited them for the first time almost six years ago. That's when she introduced my daughter and me to the Calabash Garden Tea Room. It was love at first sight, both for my daughter and me!
At first, we were not sure what to expect. I figured a couple of cups of tea and we were done. Not even close, though! From the huge variety of teas to choose from, to the little handmade artistic sandwiches with the tiny little pink bows, to the scones and strawberries, to the delicious soups, to the beautifully decorated 'cottage' (both inside and out)...this is truly one of my favorite places to visit (besides my mom and dad's place!)
Now I no longer 'miss' having tea with mom, because I know that when we go to visit them, the Calabash Garden Tea Room is there waiting for us!

My friends and I just love the Calabash Garden Tea Room. Kathy, Anna and Trish treat guests like family. The food is delicious and plentiful. The scones are the best I have ever tasted. We always bring some home when we go. Their new petite cupcakes are to die for. The atmosphere is quaint and charming with vintage tableclothes and china. We can't get enough of this place. Love, love love it!!

I take my grand daughters here every summer when they come to visit me on vacation and it is the highlight of their trip. From the minute they get out of the car they start asking me when we're going to have tea at the Calabash Garden Tea Room. The children's platter that they offer is reasonable in price and just perfect for them. We're so glad that this tea room is here to stay.

While dining at this incredible tea room last week I just had to go back to the kitchen and thank Kathy and Anna for bringing this amazing and very different venue to Calabash. Truthfully, there is no place like it on the Brunswick Islands.
Whether you live here or in Myrtle Beach or anywhere else for that matter, it is worth your while to come , taste the food and teas (there are over 50 varieties) and then stroll through the little village for some great shopping. I can't think of a better way to spend the day. Upon leaving we noticed some young gals dining outdoors on the patio, laughing, taking pictures and just having a wonderful time. Be sure to put this on your Must Do list and enjoy!

I had my daughter's seventh birthday party here last week. The children just loved it, I could not have picked a better place. The lunch platter was delicious and beautiful and the children heard a story about tea etiquette, and the origin of tea. They provided us with a large cup-cake shaped birthday cake. The children got all dressed up in hats, gloves and boas provided by the tea room and this created a wonderful photo op.
Everyone was super nice to the children and the party went off without a hitch. The Calabash Garden Tea Room is a great place to have a unique party and best of all, there was no fuss nor mess for me to deal with.

Absolutely the best tea room I have ever been to!! My friends and I are so glad to have this little gem in our town. If you are in this area or Myrtle Beach, don't miss it. Thanks Ladies!!

The scones here are the best I've ever had! We took my sister-in-law here for her birthday and we were treated like royalty. The food was delightful in both presentation and taste! My favorite was the gorgonzola cheese with pistachio...what a fabulous day!

My wife and I recently enjoyed tea at the Calabash Garden Tea Room. This was my first time in a Tea Room, and I was pleasantly surprised. We both enjoyed the ambiance and delicious food and tea. There was ample food to satisfy me; I particularly liked the tomato bisque. We have already planned our next visit. We highly recommend.

These ladies go above and beyond service! We were welcomed with smiles and hugs. The atmosphere was delightful and festive colors filled each room! The aromas in the air hinted to what scrumptious food was yet to come. Donned with hats, scarves and gloves provided by the Tea Room, we felt like royalty and were pampered just as if we truly were! They accomodated my food allergies with Tomato Bisque or Cold Strawberry Soup. Both were delicious! The salad was a delicate blend of lettuce and an drizzles with a heavenly dressing. We paced ourselves as the tier of sandwiches, scones, and desserts arrived. All preciously wrapped with bows or topped with sprigs of dill. No flavor too strong or weak. We sat and sipped tea, chatted, and took pictures. What a fun, relaxing time! Please visit the Calabash Tea Room and give yourself some love! Enjoy!

My 8-year-old daughter and I were visiting friends and they took us to tea. What a wonderful experience for both of us. The special hats and boas were such fun. The food was super and little touches did not go unnoticed even by my daughter who loved the ribbon wrapped sandwiches. It felt so comfortable and we were treated with real southern hospitality. If you are looking for something special near Myrtle this is place is a must do.:)

I visited this tea room around St. Patrick's Day with my British friend who considers herself a tea expert. We were both so pleased with our experience here. The owners have both stuck to tradition when necessary and have added their own creative twists to the menu. The additions of the Mini Corned Beef and Melted Swiss tea sandwich, Irish Soda Bread Scones, and Bailey's Irish Cream Cupcakes for the holiday were festive and delicious! The tea was brewed to perfection and served in delicate china cups along with vintage hankies which served as our napkins! The garden salad with its homemade salad dressing was so tasty that we had to purchase some of it jarred over in the gift shop after our visit. We both oohed and aahed over each and every morsel. Even my friend was impressed. Thanks Calabash Garden Tea Room for a wonderfully memorable experience!

VERY IMPRESSIVE!! Food, service, and experience was one of a kind. I encourage anyone to come for lunch to enjoy the 'Ultimate Tea.' I have been to tea rooms all over the world and this was far better than any I had experienced in the past.

A fabulous find in Calabash nestled among the multitudes of merely average restaurants. The food, decor, and service was top notch. I was blown away by the attention that each finger sandwich and dessert was given. I can't wait to come back with lots of friends!

I brought my mother-in-law here last week as a chance to bond before my wedding. What a lovely, classy place to sit and chat. We indulged in the 'Ultimate Tea,' and it was absolutely delicious. The jeweled fruit skewers and chocolate dipped strawberries were the perfect end to our meal. It is rare to find a restaurant that serves at an unhurried pace. What a gem!

The white chocolate cherry scones were to die for! I was also so impressed with the variety of teas offered. Will be back for the full tea next week!

Our apprehension quickly disappeared as we entered the charming cottage. It was apparent that the owners truly were dedicated to making their guests welcome. We sat at a round table set with lovely vintage teacups and hankies(which were used as napkins) and silverware all on an antique tablecloth. Anna explained in detail all the wonderful teas that were offered, which arrived at our table shortly before the delectable salad arrived. Shortly, thereafter, the three tiered tray was brought to us. The bottom tier contained very tasty, different, bite size sandwiches. The next tier was scones which were so tender; definitely made by a woman who knows how scones should taste. Along side, was clotted cream and lemon curd. I don't have to feel badly about not having been able to attend a high tea while in London. Dessert was a delight, also.
We truly appreciate the time and effort and labor of love that these women have put in to such a memorable experience for myself and my Mom (who is 85 years old and was thrilled with the experience) as well as the rest of the women I was there with today. We will definitely be back!
Sincerely,
Donna

My girlfriends and I just had the most wonderful Valentine's Day Tea. I had been waiting to take them to this tea room and finally got the opportunity when they flew in for a girl's weekend! We started with a delectable assortment of finger sandwiches including gorgonzola with pistachio nuts and smoked salmon with black sesame seeds then continued with white chocolate cherry scones and ended with red velvet cupcakes and chocolate dipped strawberries. We had Crime of Passion and Chocolate Mint tea to compliment our meal which our delightful server recommended. Everything was unique and delicious! The tea room was even decorated with sparkly heart lights and our tier adorned with fresh red roses! I can't say enough about this tea room. We girls made great memories and have the pictures to prove it!

My friends and I celebrated the holdidays together at our home in Pawley's Island. We had heard wonderful things about this tea room from neighbors and frieds. We were told it was well worth the 55 minute drive to Calabash. Boy were they ever right!! Calabash is just the sweetest little village with lots of shopping, antiquing and a ton of consignment and resale shops. But the best part was this charming tea room tucked away among quaint shopping cottages.
From the minute we arrived until leaving we were treated to a wonderful lunch with devine scones, unique teas and delicate dessers. Everything, everything, is prepared ON SIGHT but her Baklava is just to die for, it literally melts in your mouth. We had the holiday, peppermint scones, which were the best I have ever tasted, light and delicious. Trish and Anna were attentive and friendly. What an amazing experience.
We all felt like we have known these girls forever, like family.
Whether you live in the area or are just visiting, you must go to this tea room. It is worth the trip. Thanks girls, you made our visit a day to remember!! We'll be back, you can count on it.

My friend took me here on vacation December 4, 2009 and it was the best tea experience I've ever had and I've been to the Ritz Carton Tea Room in London, England. The food was superb and the setting quite cozy and charming. I enjoyed my experience immensely. I highly recommend this tearoom as a destination tea experience.

Absolutely perfect and lovely in every way! A wonderful way to spend a relaxing afternoon with friends. The turkey and brie sandwich with honey was mouth-watering, as was the tomato bisque soup. The Spiced Plum tea was exceptional, perfect for the chilly months to come. I made sure to purchase a small bag of it at the gift shop before I left. I also found some adorable and unique gifts for Christmas at the gift shop! The owners were very gracious and friendly - my girlfriends and I felt right at home. Next time we want to try the full Ultimate Tea! (We overhead the other guests raving about the cranberry apple scones.) What a treat...will be back as soon as possible!

I brought my grand-daughter to this tea room for her birthday last week. She got dressed up in a hat, boa and little white gloves, she look adorable. We had the most memorable time!! She had Tutti Fruitti tea and heart shaped marshmellow fluff sandwiches while I enjoyed their delicious Tomato Bisque soup and the Ultimate Tea. IT WAS AMAZING!! This tea room deserves its #1 rating, by far the best I have ever been to. We loved it so much that I booked a Christmas party there for my garden club. My grand daughter told me that she would like to go to the Teddy Bear Tea they have every December with Santa. Is is by far her favorite place. Mine too!! Keep up the good work ladies..

My friend and I had the 'Ultimate Tea' at Calabash Garden Tea Room today. We both felt this was the best 'tea' we had ever had. We have had tea all over the world. The food was superb in both quality, taste and presentation. The staff was extremely personable. We will return at every opportunity. Special note: A wonderful place to introduce your daughters/granddaughters to the world of tea.

I was visiting my cousin who lives in the area and was thoroughly delighted. So far, it is the best tea house I have ever frequented and this includes others located in historic places such as Ellicott City and Annapolis, MD as well as London. The food ws at a much higher level than I had come to expect in a tea house. Well worth a stop.

The few negative reviews on this site completely vanish when you visit the Calabash Tea Room.I have been there a few times and intend to revisit whenever possible. My friends and I travel about an hour to experience this quaint, victorian tearoom, with all of its charm. It is obvious that Kathy, Anna and their staff place much emphasis on detail. The food is outstanding, with new, creative and scrumptious recipes appearing regularly. This was my first tea and what a wonderful experience it was. Of course I had to find the right hat and boa to start things off. I had the peach soup which was delicious. All of the food was very good but I especially enjoyed the apple walnut salad and the chocolate covered strawberries. Kathy and Anna were great hostesses and the entire afternoon was a most enjoyable and memorable one. I hope I have the opportunity to visit again some day.

I had the pleasure of visiting this tea room during my travels this summer and in my opinion this is one of the finest tea rooms in the county and I have been to many! I had their full 'Ultimate Tea' starting with a delicious salad, then the chilled peach soup. Their beautifully presented came to our table with unique tea sandwiches, Kathy's dark chocolate apricot scones and the most delicious HOME MADE desserts. The miniature strawberry shortcake was just beyond words. I had the Crime of Passion tea and had just had to buy some from the gift shop to take home.
I can't wait until next summer when I get back to the area to visit again.

I brought my granddaughter in the other afternoon for her first 'tea party,' and we had a ball! Her children's plate was beautiful and she enjoyed every bite. I was thrilled with the variety of the tea sandwiches that I received, including cranberry apple waldorf salad and cucumber dill. The sandwiches were all so delicious, it is impossible to choose a favorite! My granddaughter and I had so much fun dressing up in their ladies room - she told me later that this is her new favorite place!

This was an experience that my niece and her bridesmaids will not soon forget. On the day of the wedding to be held at Ocean Isle beach, my mother and I hosted a brunch for the bridal party. All of our 'young ladies' participated in the dressing up of hats and boas to enjoy a little 'make believe' before the big event. All in attendance shared and enjoyed the vast flavors of teas offered and we were hard pressed to pick just one favorite. The presentation of the food was not only attractive but every bit as good as it looked if not better.
-

Loved every bite! Enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, and of course the food! I've also never had plum iced tea before...it was delicious.

I feel so lucky to have found this tea shop. The food (especially the scones) were to die for! I enjoyed the chocolate hazelnut tea so much that I bought some in the gift shop. Thank you to the owners for opening such a lovely place!

Delicious! Everything was fresh and tasty. So many different flavors to enjoy. My favorite was the apricot pecan sandwich tied with a ribbon. The scones were to die for - the ladies were nice enough to let us take home the extras! I can't rave enough about the quality of food and service we received. What a treat.

Oh my goodness...it doesn't get any better than the Calabash Garden Tea Room! I went with 2 of my friends today and can not say enough about how excellent the tea was (both iced and hot) and how delicious the food was -- YUM!! Kathy's presentation of the food is impeccable and her attention to detail is quite impressive (with both food and atmosphere). The cute little gray kitty-cat on the front porch greeted us and our overall positive experience took off from there! Will definitely be back with more friends and family! THANK YOU!!

Every thing was beautifully presented and every bit as tasty. Looking forward to another visit which has become a part of our annual vacation

The 'Tea Room' experience was something fun and different for me. I very much enjoyed dressing up with a fancy hat and I think this was the highlight of the afternoon. The food was excellent, and as a person who generally does not drink tea, very much enjoyed the Queen Catherine' variety. I also had the pleasure of trying the Tomato Bisque soup and it was the best I've ever had! The portions are not very large, but appropriate and artfully prepared.
I would definitely return for a visit. My only complaint was that while the staff was very sweet and friendly, they did not dress the part. I would have liked to see them in Sunday's finest with a hat to match to complete the ambiance.
-
Lydia from Maryland
I had such a wonderful experience here... I called Kathy ahead of time to arrange a vegan menu for me and she was absolutely accommodating to all my needs. The selection of the tea sandwiches was diverse, and all of them unique and tasty in their own way. I had their Raspberry Lemon Herbal iced tea which was so refreshing and brewed to perfection. I must also note that the service was exceptional. Trish and Anna went above and beyond to satisfy and anticipate all of our needs. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in the area!

From the beautiful, dainty presentation to the sweet hospitality of its owner, Kathy, and her terrific staff, the Calabash Garden Tea Room is a very special place. Food is consistently fresh, & tasty. Everyone who works here is friendly & accommodating. All the Victorian touches are absolutely charming. I come frequently and even took my 3 1/2yr. old granddaughter here with my stepdaughter and daughter for a memorable time. Kathy and her staff pay extra attention to all details, and each time I go I am pleasantly surprised by a delicious new variety of her tender scones! You can't help but smile when you come here because you will feel totally pampered! Make this a stop for the perfect 'Girls Day Out'. Be sure to call early for your reservation! This spot is very popular and space is limited!

Words can't say enough about the experience that one is spoiled with in the tea room. So many extra's, even the glasses are hand painted. If you are in the area don't miss this delightful tea room. You may even see me there.

What a wonderful time we had at the Calabash Tea Room! If you are looking for a friendly, whimsical, and satisfying tea experience, this is the place. The staff was so patient when we had to make some changes, and made us feel so welcome when we arrived! I highly recommend it!

I have to agree with Pat, this tea room goes beyond excellent. I am a tea room lover and have been to many both in the US and abroad and let me tell you this one sets the standard. Kathy, Anna and Trish do an outstanding job from the time they greet you at the door until they wave goodbye to you.
The savory sandwiches are always on fresh bread and unique to say the least. Each one is a culinary masterpiece in it's own little bundle. The scones are to die for. When I am there, I always take a few home to heat up for family and friends. The desserts? That's a another story. Plentiful, fresh and delicious. Each lunch comes with a pot of tea and the selection is just wonderful, not to mention that these girls know how to steep a pot of tea to perfection.
If you want to eat and relax at a tea room while visiting coatal NC there is not another place that can compare. You will leave here full and satisfied, without a doubt. These girls know what fresh means(home made)and this tea room in all of it's quaint and soothing glory is second to none!! Do not miss it.

Its a shame there is no excellent plus rating - this tea room would certainly earn it! I've beento teas at the Ritz in many cities as well as the Palace in NYC - and the quality of the food and the attention to detail (such as beautiful roses adorning the 3 tier tray) far exceeded those experiences. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon with good company, great service, wonderful and plentiful food and quaint atmosphere. This is one tea house you wouldn't want to miss.

It's been one week since my friend and I visited this wonderful tea house. And we will go back!
From the friendly greeting from Kathy to the wonderful service of Anna--what a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was so pretty that we didn't want to leave. My thanks to Kathy and Anna for picking Calabash to open their precious tea room. A gem by the ocean! See you soon. Fran

A charming find in the middle of Calabash, North Carolina. The room is pretty and the food tastes as good as the presentation. It is a joy to indulge in the tea service with friends or family. It would be a great place for intimate parties.

I must say I had to laugh when I read the three poor reviews that are written below about The Calabash Tea Room. Those reviews are about the farthest thing from the truth about The Calabash Tea Room! I even begin to wonder if these ladies were even at this tea room! This place is EXCELLENT and deserves to ranked number one in NC and I would even rank it number one out of all the tea rooms I've visited across the country. I can't even imagine someone saying they left this tea room hungry!!! So hungry that you needed a snack, wow you must be a BIG eater. I consider myself to have quite a large appetite and I have never left hungry from this tea room. If anything, you may need things wrapped to take home!! The teas are wonderful, the food is out of this world!!! The owner does an outstanding job of making some of the most delicious things I've ever tasted! You must visit this tea room if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed.

This tea room deserves to be number one! I have never experienced anything quite like it. What a treat. The attention to detail is impressive as are the food and tea selections. I had a refreshing Midsummer's Peach iced tea, cinnamon raisin scones, and sandwiches encompassing many different flavors. By the time I finished, I was so full and did not want to leave. What a relaxing and pleasant place to forget the daily grind. I highly recommend this tea room.

As the owner of the Wilmington Tea Room, I can honestly say that this place is a tough act to follow! It has been awhile since I had the opportunity to visit, but I would certainly recommend the Calabash Garden Tea Room to any and all of my customers. I was there with friends and family (including my then 18 month-old daughter) on a Saturday afternoon. Even the husbands enjoyed the event. :) I don't really keep up with this site as often as I probably should, but in light of a few recent reviews, I just wanted to add my 'two cents.'
Your #1 rank is well-deserved, and I hope to have the chance to stop by again soon!

I recently visited the Calabash Tea Room and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon. I believe we actually overstayed our welcome!!! Not really, we just didn't want to leave. The atmosphere is whimsical, the tea and sandwiches were terrific the desserts fantastic and I loved choosing a hat and boa to dress in. Kathy and Anna were welcoming and I just loved it...I had a choice that day of golf or tea...I chose tea!!!! I can't wait to visit again...maybe next year on my way home from Florida!!! Thanks

I try to come to this tea room once a week since it has opened and have been quite impressed with the variety of the tea sandwiches, desserts and flavored scones. The owner is always cooking up new recipes and nothing has ever been a disappointment.

After taking tea at this new tea room, I was so excited to post a raving review, because everything was fantastic. How anyone can suggest skipping the food and just having tea here is beyond me. All I can say is try it for yourself!

So happy we found this place...it's a new once-a-month tradition, if we can stay away that long! I can't believe some of these negative reviews about the food, because we were above and beyond impressed. This tea room deserves to be #1!

I've been to both Wilmington Tea Room and Charleston Place, and they both PALE in comparison to the Calabash Garden Tea Room as far as quantity and quality go. The sprinkles on the dark chocolate dipped strawberry and the caramel bourbon sauce on the bread pudding were delightful accents to the homemade desserts. Keep up the great work!

Are these reviewers talking about the same place I am?! When I went to this tea room, the food was the best part! We had chicken salad, apple waldorf, and smoked salmon tea sandwiches. Everything was perfect.

On our way from Maryland to Florida, my sister, daughter in law and I had the pleasure of stopping off at a few tea rooms we found on this site. We were very excited to see that this was ranked #1. Although some of the previous reviews were not outstanding, the reputation of this tea room is obviously great. Our review is that the ranking of #1 is probably not deserved. While the food was tasty, there was not much variety and as a previous reviewer noted a lot of flavored cream cheese. Also, we are not impressed with the use of sprinkles (jimmies) as means to 'liven up' the desserts on a tea service.
However, a one star review is also not deserved. We found the staff to be very friendly and the restaurant itself was charming. We had a pleasant time, over all.
I would say that this tea room is about average for what you would expect. It is not nearly on the same level with Chelsea's in Asheville, The Wilmington Tea Room in Wilmingon, NC, or High Tea at the Charleston Place Hotel in Charleston, SC. One option is to skip the food and just enjoy a delicious cup of tea in the lovely surroundings.

I went with friends recently for the first time. I am looking forward to many more English Teas. The service was excellent. The owners made us feel as if we were guests in their home. The atmosphere whimsical and spotlessly clean. For the price of a High Tea I would have liked to have more variety in the sandwich's and larger portions. It was just a bite, and mostly with flavored cream cheese.I would have liked to see a variety of sandwich's. Ham, chicken, egg salad, etc. with a special touch and would have been a more satisfying menu. The scones were delicious as was the fruit and the tea. There is a wonderful tea menu offered.

The reason this tea room is number one is very clear; it is simply the best! Everything from the dainty tea sandwiches, fresh baked scones and home made desserts, nothing less than perfection. Kathy creates and prepares with her heart.
The ambiance, the staff, the attention to detail, there's just no other place like it, sorry. If you truly love tea rooms and you have been to others, there is no doubt in my mind that you will love it as much as my friends and I do.
I go every time I am at the beach.

I was here over the Easter weekend...came across this tea room while staying in Sunset Beach with my mother! I wasn't sure what to expect because I had never been to a tea room before, but I loved everything! My mother and I dressed up in hats and boas and took lots of pictures. We ordered the 'Ultimate Tea,' which was brought to us on a tier with fresh flowers and the most delicious food. Everything was bite sized, but surprisingly tasty and it filled me up in the end! I ordered the chocolate hazelnut tea which one of the servers recommended - it didn't even need sugar or milk. The tea was brought to me in a vintage pot, poured for me and was put on a tea warmer so it wouldn't get cold. This tea room thought of everything. The owners and the girl who served me were so nice, and made sure that we were enjoying ourselves. They sat down and talked with us for about 10 minutes about where we were from and how we happened upon them. No one ever takes the time to do this at a restaurant anymore. Needless to say I was very impressed and will be back first thing on my next trip!

As an avid fan of tea rooms, I was so excited to visit this one...#1 in North Carolina. I drove quite a distance to get here and was thrilled with my experience. I must comment on several of the previous reviews that state the food or service is not up to par. I have been to tea rooms all over the world and both the food and service were outstanding. The servers took their time getting to know myself and my company, teaching us about tea and the differences among all the varieties. The server brought the tea to the table after 5 minutes of brewing time, poured the tea for each of us, commenting on color and smell and then delicately placed the teapots on the warmers. For those who do not know what to expect as far as tea room food goes, deli sized sandwiches simply do not exist. A tea is meant to stave off one's appetite before dinner. I must say though, that the 6 finger sandwiches, giant scone and 4 desserts definitely filled me up. Everything was fresh and delicious. The cucumber dill sandwich and apricot sandwich tied with a satin ribbon were my favorites, although all were delicious. I have been to tea rooms where frozen or boxed foods are used, and this is NOT one of them. The homemade bread pudding was fantastic, individually cupped in glass and covered with a bourbon caramel sauce. The fruit was skewered on a jeweled toothpick and drizzled with white chocolate and the strawberries were hand-dipped in dark chocolate and sprinkles. Thank you Kathy and Anna for a wonderful treat - I am sure to be back again!

Had to make several attempts to get a reservation. We should not have bothered. I am disappointed, after reading all the wonderful comments about this tea room. A previous diner made reference to the small portions and poor quality of the food, and I have to agree. Certainly 'tea sandwiches' aren't Big Macs, but come on. And the ingredients just did not taste fresh. I have no complaint about the tea service..our server was knowledgeable and friendly, helping us select a tea to 'complement' our meal. But it is not enough to save my opinion of this tea room. You have a wonderful location, a charming look. But your food is just not up to par.

We have been to this tea room once a month since they have opened...The atmosphere is cozy, the food is exquisite,gourmet...nothing compares in this area!! The service is personal and friendly. Whenever I have guests from out of town, we always go here for a great girls day out!! Keep up the great work!

Having visited many tea rooms, both
here and in England, I feel that my experience at Calabash Tea Garden was a wonderful surprise. The welcome was warm. The ambience was both relaxing and enjoyable. There was a large variety of teas offered instead of having just the tea of that day served. I am looking forward to my next visit. Two thumbs up.

I have agree with my friend, who treated me to lunch at the tea room for my birthday. The food is not bad, but it's not good either. And its skimpy, left us feeling like we needed to get a snack after leaving. The interior photo shows the table where we were seated - four of us crammed in the corner with six more people in a little 'nook.' Not for you if you are claustraphobic or if you like to eat lunch once rather than twice. I would not go again and I will not recommend - sorry. :(

While there is a variety of teas available, there is no artistry to the service. More like drop it at your table and do it yourself. The service is not what one could call overly-friendly. The location and interior are cute, but not really all that impressive - outdoor furniture dargged inside and topped with glass. Also, they seem to be crowding too many people in too little space. My biggest complaint is the food! For the prices charged by this tea room, I expect MORE - more food and BETTER quality. I am sorry, but most of what they serve tasted like thawed bulk-store fare. Serve that if you must, but consider lowering your prices.
If this place is number one, I can't imagine how bad numbers 2-10 must be!

I have visited the Tea Room on several occassions and it has always been wonderful!!! I always make sure to bring my 'out of town' friends to the Tea Room for a special treat and all have loved it!! Keep up the great work girls.

While visiting Calabash my husband and I enjoyed an afternoon tea at this darling tea room. I was amazed at the ambiance.Very colorful and girly. We ordered the cream tea. The savories and sweets were outstanding. The tea was just the right temperature. The table setting was darling with handkerchief napkins tucked in the cup handles.I invited a new friend I made while on vacation in North Carolina to join me the next week. We had the full tea. We both were very impressed. Presented so beautifully and delicious. I chose a darling hat from the dress up room to wear. It was fun. I and my daughter started an authentic English tea club years ago which is still going today. This would be a deffinate vist for us if we didn't live so far away (Wisconsin). I also have visited many tea rooms and find this to be one of the best. I cannot wait to return next year on vacation.

I stopped by this tea room during an afternoon out shopping and was absolutely delighted with my experience. As a soon to be bride, I am planning on having my bridal shower here...the owners are so personable, their attention to detail is exquisite and the food is by far the best on the beach. From fruity refreshing iced tea to handcrafted bite-sized tea sandwiches and gourmet petite desserts, I was astounded by the quality and unique characteristics of each flavor that I was presented with. I can't wait to come back for my shower (if I can stay away that long). I am so excited to share this discovery with my girlfriends and family. We will definitely take full advantage of the dress up room, donning hats and boas for the perfect photo opportunity. Thank you Kathy and Anna for bring some much needed class to Calabash!

The ambience of the Calabash Garden Tea Room is from my grandmother's era, but the exceptional soup, fancy tea sandwiches, 'melt in your mouth' scones and delectable dessert choices are timeless. This was my first visit, but I am already planning to return with friends and family. I loved trying the various exotic teas; the individual floral teapots complimented the Victorian decor. The enthusiam of the proprietors, Kathy and Anna,is contagious and the service impeccable. I don't have a granddaughter to share lunch with, but after today I am defintely thinking of adopting.

I had the best experience in this tea room. The china, quality of food and ambiance was outstanding. The tomato soup and turkey and brie sandwich was delicious. I had an iced tea made with Earl Grey tea and spices. So smooth and refreshing. This will be a yearly visit while I'm in Myrtle Beach for the winter.
The owners took the time to sit with us and we chatted about Italian cookies. We were sampling their scones with lemon curd and cream. A real treat!! Kathy and Anna asked me about an Italian cookie my family makes. I refreshed their memory by mentioning Napoleons. Don't miss stopping by this tea room. You won't be sorry.

Today was our 2nd trip to this tearoom and we cannot wait to return. My sister-in-law and I are tea lovers and this place was a wonderful treat. The variety of teas is remarkable and can be made decaf for you. The food is excellent. Owners are so very nice and the place is absolutely spotlessly clean

I'ts not a surprise to me that this Tea Room is rated number 2 in NC! I can not imagine what number 1 must be like! I took my mother, husband and neice there after the holidays and was simply in awe...From the greeting at the door by Anna and Trish to Kathy's Secret Garden Dressing, everything was top notch. Kathy's scones are the best I ever tasted and her Tomato Bisque Soup left me wanting another bowl. Their attention to detail is unsurpassed, and I have attended teas in Europe, so trust me, this was as good if not better than any tea I have gone to. And at a most reasonable price! There's a wide variety of savory tea sandwiches that are differnt from anything I have ever tasted. Not your typical fare at all. The desserts are all home made and you can tell. Everything melts in your mouth. And as if the top tier of desserts was not enough, the gals brought out a delightful ice cream that was infused with a wonderful ginger flavor.
While we were dining we saw a woman celebrating her 100th birthday, and she was just beaming. The ladies of the Calabash Garden Tea room gave everyone the same warm and friendly service. Kathy made it a point to come out and speak to everyone on a very personal level.
I can not say enough about this tea room, truely the 'Hidden Gem' of the beach.
I took a copy of her menu home and noticed that she does children's tea parties for a very reasonable price and I intend to book a party there for my grand neice this summer. I know she and her friends will love it as much as we did. If you are in the Myrtle Beach or Calabash area and want to experience this fantastic tea room do not hesitate to make a reservation here. I am sure that this summer will be extremely busy for them as it is becoming so very popular among locals as well as visitors.
You will not be disappointed!!

We went to celebrate two birthdays and had a wonderful time. Kathy and Anna were friendly and informative. The teas were wonderful and we learned about their production. The food was varied in flavor and presentation was beautiful. They even had a camera and gave us all a photo to remember our day! I have been to tea rooms in Georgia and Michigan that were very nice but this was my favorite! Nancy

my girlfriends and I frequent the Garden tea room. It's our favorite place to go. The hosts/ owners Kathy and Anna are the best. I love too many teas to name them all and the food is too good for words, Kathy has always got something new to surprise us with.

Thank you for the delightful experience I have had over the last three weeks. First time I wandered in by myself. Found it to be very unique and friendly staff awaited me. Next week, I went back, took my three friends, and today returned with my daughter-in-law. Each time I found lunch to be exceptional. Highly recommend it to all if you want to share an event remembered!!

Today for lunch I had the Ragamuffin tea along with a house salad and tomato bisque. To finish I enjoyed a chocolate-chocolate cherry scone. It was all amazing! I have never been a fan of scones, today I realized it's because I have never had a good one. The tomato bisque was mouth watering. The attention to detail throughout the tea house was impressive, right down to the hand cut sugar cubes. Kathy and Anna provided wonderful service and were delightful hosts.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I visited the Calabash Garden Tea Room with two friends and it was wonderful! We started our 'Ultimate Tea' with a delicious Tomato Bisque. This was just the beginning of our 'Valentine Week' tea experience. Our tea sandwiches continued the theme with a heart shaped gorgonzola sandwich, a red ribboned apricot sandwich and four others that were equally as wonderful. Our chocolate scone with cherry chips was perfect and the desserts of dark chocolate covered strawberry, chocolate mousse in a chocolate cup with cherry on top, fruit skewer, and mint brownie were scrumptious! As you can see, I cannot say enough about this great tea room. If you are in the area, you must visit!

I loved my time at the Calabash Tea Room. The atmosphere was charming and cozy. There was a large selection of hats and boas for guests to use if you wanted to dress up, which i thought was really fun. The sandwiches were delicious and there were 5 varieties for each tea member. All the desserts were tasty and the presentation was pretty. I had a wonderful time and highly recommend the elegant, yet comfortable tea room.

I went to the Calabash Garden Tea room for the firat time over the Christmas holidays with two friends and we found it to be enchanting. The selection of teas was large, the food was very good and the service was excellent.
The ambience was wonderful - I felt like I was in a fairy tale world. I plan to take any guests there for the experience in the future. I loved it !

I had a lovely experience. My sister in law and I enjoyed a wonderful escape from the Christmas bustle and spent a few hours pampering ourselves at high tea. The atmosphere is absolutely charming, the server was extremely friendly, food was marvelous and the tea was comforting. This will become a habit! Dec 2009

It was like a day at the luxury spa. We love the shop. It would be more nice if you have separated section for ladies only that likes to dress up like wearing hats and gloves. We will bring couple of friends next time we visit. The presentation was exquisite. The food was so fresh and the tea was very delicious.

We visited the Calabash Garden Tea Room during a trip to Myrtle Beach to celebrate our 40th anniversary. My wife enjoys tea rooms and we have been to a great many across the country. We both agree that this tea room is among the best, if not the best, that we have visited. First, we were warmly greeted when we arrived and, during our visit, the owners stopped by our table to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. Second, this is a real Victorian style tea room and not a just a tea room in name only that offers lunch. They served great tea sandwiches, scones, and a variety of deserts. In addition, a fresh salad was included and we ordered the soup of the day. Everything was fresh and tasted great. They also offered a wide tea selection. I had the Earl Grey Supreme (because real men only drink Earl Grey tea!) and my wife had Ragamuffin, a specialty of the room, which she thought was outstanding. My wife was also very impressed with the presentation of the food—the best that she had seen. Finally, not only was everything great, but the price was very reasonable. Needless to say, we will plan to visit the Calabash Garden Tea Room whenever we are in the area.

I celebrate my 60th birthday with a week long party here at the beach and one of the events was tea party with my daughter and a few of my good friends from the north. Everything was wonderful and my friends were duly impressed. I have frequented the tea house several times before and it has always been a treat. Kathy and Anna outdid themselves with the food (especially the tomato soup). Everything was just excellent. Carol Humphrey 10/09/08

My sisters and I had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful tea room while spending the weekend in Myrtle Beach. What an experience! The food and teas were absolutely delectable! The scones were definitely the best we've had yet. Kathy and Anna were so friendly and attentive. The tea room was so beautifully decorated and the dishes and pretty hankies reminded all of us sisters of things our Mom had when were were growing up. After tea we visited the Tea Room Gift Shop and bought some of Kathy's WONDERFUL salad dressing. Afternoon tea is a special part of our yearly 'Sisters' trip and this year our experience at the Calabash Garden Tea Room was TOPS!!!

Two local friends treated me to a perfectly wonderful treat at the Calabash Garden Tea Room & gift Shop. The variety of taste treats was tops, the tea was so good we drank an additional pot, Kathy and all the others were just as nice as could be, and literally everything was charming, lovely, delightful, and delicious. Even the restroom was above and beyond. I look forward to visiting this tea room as often as I'm in the area.

This tearoom is absolutely out of this world! I live in Myrtle Beach and was delighted to find a tea room so close to home. I brought my daughter and grand daugher there while they were visiting me this summer and it was nothing less than a magical moment that we will all remember for years to come. They even offer a children's platter that is delicious and almost too pretty to eat. The food, the ambiance and the service were well beyond our expectations. I have been to tea at several well known tea rooms during my travels and let me assure you, this one is right up there with them. I suggest that anyone looking to enjoy the finest teas and food in this area, whether you are a local or guest, visit this fabulous tea room. You will not regret it! And don't forget your camera..

What a surprise to find a tea room in Calabash, NC. We drove by the tea room on our way to N. Myrtle Beach while on vacation at Sunset Beach. My husband actually saw the sign and made mention of it. We drove by the next day and found out the hours of operation and we were able to come for tea the very next day. Luckily, they were able to take us walk-ins. The tea room had three distinct areas decorated in soft victoriana. Just right and not overpowering. We started with water served in hand painted water glasses. I just love the unexpected things. The slice of lemon served in a bird squeezer. You have to see it to understand. The food varied from scones, savories and sweets and the presentation was supurb and detail oriented. One of the tea sandwiches was carefully tied into a lavender bow. What a wonderful touch. The teas we chose were loose leaf which is what I have come to expect from the finest tea rooms. My husband and I had such a lovely experience that we joked about making the trip every year (with my in-laws) just to have tea in this lovely tea room.

My daughter celebrated her fourth birthday with thirteen boys and girls we have had the pleasure of meeting over the past two years in this unique area. They had such a time dressing up in ties and jackets, hats and gloves, and of course feather boas. My duaghter thinks cake is yummy but the idea of something different like a scone was so intrigueing to her. Beautiful family memories were created here and we are so greatful to these special ladies for taking care of the people who have touched us during this special time in our lives. Who would have thought table manners could be so much fun to learn?!

I had the wonderful pleasure of having my sister and two nieces visiting me for a week at the beach and I took advantage of them being here from Maryland to take them to the Calabash Garden Tea Room, which I have been to before. We had such a wonderfull time and lots of fun. We had the fun of using the beautiful hats and boa's and there was a beautiful pink sweater with a fur like collar that looked beautiful on my 17 year old niece. We had a wonderful time and we can't say enough about the service, FOOD and TEA. We order different types of tea so we could taste what each other had. EVERYTHING WAS JUST GREAT. After we left the TEA ROOM we visited the gift shop and we purchased the salad dressing that is home made by Kathy (one of the owners)trust me you can't go home without it. Too bad they don't sell the sconces too. After several hours of leaving the TEA ROOM someone asked if everyone was ready to get something to eat and my 17 year old niece said 'THERE IS NOTHING I WOULD WANT THAT WOULD COMPARE TO WHAT I HAD AT THE TEA ROOM. She also wants this to be a yearly tradition. My family only gets here once a year. Thank you Kathy and Anna for having the TEA ROOM here at Calabash.

Offering a variety of teas (both classic favorites and unique blends), the Calabash Garden Tea Room is not to be missed. To complement the excellent tea selection is an array of ever changing treats. Beautifully displayed on three tiered serving trays and garnished with fresh flowere, the scones, sandwiches and desserts offered something for everyone. The petite skewer of grapes and berries with a white chocolate drizzle was my favorite.
But most important to us was the hospitality displayed by our hostess and servers. They made the experience special. Our group of women ranged from my niece who is twelve to my mother-in-law who is turning 80, and we all had a wonderful time.

We would like to thank you for having such a lovely tea room. My family travels from Florida and Ohio every summer for a weeks vacation on Ocean Isle Beach. As every year the guys get to have a 'TEE Time' for a round at golf and every year the women wonder what to do....So this year mom decided to have a 'TEA Time' for us girls. As we arrived to the lovely tea room we were asked to try on boas and hats, we had a ball for literally 30mins (atleast) we giggled and took pictures and just had fun.We ate a lovely variety of treats, we loved the scones.Tried 2 of the neat tasting teas they had to offer out of a variety of teas. Before we headed back to house we did stop by the gift shop. What a lovely day and a load of memories for us ladies to share and can't wait till next year for another 'TEA TIME'>THANKS, Mom Bittinger, Jessica,Amy & Sara

An exquisite experience for your senses! This tea room is not to be missed. I took my mother and brother here when they were in town and absolutely fell in love. Kathy's 'Ultimate Tea' creation is not only beautiful but the most delicious food I've had in the area. The tea was brewed perfectly and the fresh-baked scones are positively mouth-watering! The shabby chic cottage is decorated perfectly and dressing room with hats, boas and gloves provided my family and I with much entertainment. What a relaxing treat! Kathy and Anna treated us with unending hospitality and generosity. The Calabash Garden Tea Room is not only the perfect place for a tea lover, but for anyone who wants to be pampered.

Tea is a sister affair. My sister, Peg, and I love visiting tea rooms. We have searched them out from CT to VA to NC, and I can truthfully say,'Calabash Garden Tea Room is my absolute favorite.' From viewing the quaint little cottage's exterior to the last little nibble of a chocolate covered stawberry, the experience touched all my senses. I look forward to my next scone and clotted cream with weloming taste buds. This tea room was the highlight of my trip.

My sisters and I heard about the tearoom near the end of our visit to Sunset Beach. We went with my nieces on our last way of vacation. It was a wonderful experience and the girls stated it was one of the highlights of the trip. Tea is in a small cottage and is very intimate. The owners serve so you get a chance to hear their story. The girls loved picking a hat to wear for tea from a collection offered to guests in an old fashioned bathroom. There was time for pictures. The food and presentation were exquisite! The owners pay attention to every detail; each tea sandwich had its own personality--some time with satin ribbons, the chicken salad in an edible hen's nest. The butterscotch toffee scones with clotted cream and lemon chard were to die for. In addition there a number of other desserts that were all scumptious. I had the Ragamuffin Tea which was excellent. There was an assortment of about 35 teas. The ambiance of the place made for a perfect afternoon and way to wrap of the week. This will definitely be an annual tradition for the girls in our family!

My sister and I started and ended our vacation with having had two teas a week apart. We enjoyed our first tea so much we had to go back. The food was delicious and the decor had a Victorian flair that was very comfortable. The Ragamuffin Tea was our favorite. The salad dressing was so good we had to take a jar home to share with others. The scones were some of the best I have ever had.
I am a local resident on the SC side of the line and I plan to return with my daughters when they come to visit.
If you are in the Myrtle Beach area and love to have Tea make your reservations to visit this lovely tea room. You won’t be disappointed.

After dropping family off at the airport Dana and I actually waited over 2 hours for this tea room to open just so we could dine there, and it was well worth the wait...The owners are 'Jersey Girls' so we fit right in. The decor was Victorian Shabby Chic, vintage table cloths and hankies, pretty table settings, fresh flowers. Food over the top. Salad dressing outstanding as well as the scones. Desserts melted in your mouth. If you like to 'thrift', do not leave without talking to Kathy. You could easily make a day of it. We loved our first visit and will be back. All the best to this wonderful tea house.

I am a local of Brunswick County and had my sister visiting from Texas. Me, my sister, Aunt and cousin visited the Tea Room and had a blast, spending almost 3 hours after our tea party trying on hats and taking pictures! The tea and food were great, the owners were super nice and the service was more than excellent! Thank you for making our our visit so memorable! We will be visiting again!

I had the pleasure of taking tea at this exceptional tea room over the holidays and it was such a wonderful experience, the tea, the service, the food and especially the scones were just amazing.
We had the holiday scones and they were quite yummy as was everything else. Kathy's Secret Garden Salad Dressing is also wonderful. You must try this. I bought some to take back to NJ with me and as gifts.
What a treat it was to see all of the guests dressed in hats and boas. I can't wait until my next visit. I highly recommend visiting this tea room, you will not be disappointed. And don't forget to stop in the gift shop on the way out.

A friend and I stumbled upon this tea room quite by accident and we were absolutely delighted with the experience! The victorian ambiance was wonderful with all the right touches--evoking memories of times gone by. We had the ultimate tea and found it was excellent with outstanding attention to detail. The owners were most welcoming and sincerely shared their enthusiasm for the art of tea, making it a 'must' stop for afternoons in the future.

On our visit to the beach, my daughter and I 'introduced' a friend and her daughter to the 'tea' experience. This was a wonderful tea room for their first tea. They are not 'girly' girls, by their own admission, but enjoyed the tea immensely. The apricot tea was delightful, as was the English Breakfast. The food was superb; well-prepared, and beautifully presented. I didn't like the 'drip prevention' devices they used on the teapots. They distracted from the charm. I would rather have had a few drops of tea on the table than those tea soaked foam pads. The decor was feminine and sweet and the atmosphere was cozy without being cramped. We never felt like the neighboring table was eavesdropping on our conversation! Even the music was well thought out and added a backdrop of peace and tranquility to our experience. Thank you, ladies! We have already recommended you to our family and friends.

I brought my husband and two friends to this wonderful tea room. We had the 'Ultimate Tea' complete with delicious home made scones, delicate sandwiches and drizzled fruit. We had three varieties of tea served graciously in beautiful teapots. Proprieters Kathy and Anna were very warm and attentive. I plan to go back each time I'm in Calabash. Make sure to pick a hat and boa to complete the experience! Thanks Ladies!

My three girlfriends and I went to have a 'full tea' and we were not disappointed. The savorys were just that, the scones the best I've ever had and the deserts were to die for.The owners could not have been more gracious. I am a well -travelled tea room visitor and this is on par with high tea in London. They also have hats and boas and will take and print a picture for you. What fun.

from the moment you step inside you are transformed into a fairytale setting- calming and lovely, like a grown up tea for the little girl inside us. no detail is overlooked! The food is a delicious masterpiece, and the scones are the best I've had! A large tea selection and beautiful presentation! The ragamufin and dessert teas are delicious. It is truly a spa for the soul, I did not want to leave! There is no other place like this in the area!

What a delightful tea experience! The atmosphere and decorations were charming. The food was delicious with great variety and high quality. I loved the scones with white chocolate and lavender. They offer a wonderful variety of tea, brewed just right -I recommended the Ragamuffin blend. Anna and Kathy were warm and friendly, offering true hospitality. Thanks for a terrific tea experience!
