Came for my friends daughter's Birthday. Connie stayed opened for us to come to her tea place. It was just great. Nancy our server was perfect. The food was excellent. Everything we had was good. Can't wait to come back for Christmas. You have to check this place out if you are in the area.

I don't know what tearoom the people visited who had a negative experience. It surely could not be Serendipity. Every single visit I have had (and there have been many) has been wonderful. The food is obviously homemade, the service is perfect, the decor is lovely and relaxing. I recommend Serendipity to everyone I know. The cheesecake in particular is the best I have ever tasted. If you haven't yet visited, do so - you will not be disappointed.

I usually don't comment on websites. But felt the need. Once a month my friend and I try to visit a different Tea Room for a girls lunch out. I use Tea Map to help me choose. When I read the review from Liz, I felt I had to comment. I was there with my friend in February and found the shop quite charming. It doesn't look exactly like the pictures, no seat covers, but seemed brighter, think there are different curtains. From other tea rooms I have been, they will only give you 2 small pots of water and you choose 1 bag per pot. Here we could try as many teas as we wanted. They even would brew us loose tea, if we wanted! I had a great salad with chicken salad on top. I didn't have the soup, but my friend had potato, and said it might have been the best she has ever had. She had some kind of sandwich, but can't comment on that, other than to say she ate it all. We then had a slice of cake for dessert, (some kind of almond) and it was perfect. Crisp almonds on the outside, yummy! I only gave a good rating for food because there could be a few more choices maybe two or more soups. The service was great! Such sweet girls, I didn't meet the owner. Do wish there was a restroom in the Tea Room, it was cold that day and we had to go outside to go to the door right near the entrance. But if I was dining out, and didn't like my food, I certainly would ask for help. I hope to return someday. But we have alot of other tea rooms to try first. But I say try it, you will like it!!

I don't know why the last person didn't like their experience because we absolutely loved it. The food was delicious, including the soup & the service was excellent. The décor was everything you would except for a tea room. It was just lovely. I would highly recommend the Serendipity Tea Room to all my family & friends. We will definitely be back soon.

Very disappointed. We waited quite a while to return only to find the tearoom we grew to love is no longer the same. Entering the door, we felt the tearoom lacked the elegance it once had. The servers assured us that the recipes were the same and we would enjoy our lunch. That couldn't have been further from the truth. The sandwich, salad, and soup (3 frozen meatballs) tasted like it was fast food and not fresh. We were looking forward to dessert and everything tasted frozen and dry. I'm not sure who is cooking and baking but improvements are needed to keep Serendipity's doors open. When we visited last May, we recommended Serendipity to our family and friends. After this experience with the higher food prices and lower quality food, we will be sure to tell our family and friends not to waste their time and money. So sorry to see such a sweet place going down the tubes.

I traveled over an hour to get to this tea house. I was not disappointed when I got there. The server was so attentive and her suggestions dead on. I felt like I was at home here instead of in somebody's tea house. I took a friend who's never been to a tea. She is a very picky eater and for her to eat EVERYTHING given to her speaks volumes to the taste and quality of the food. Never met the previous owners, but the new one is delightful and I really enjoyed talking with her and the server after our tea was over. Experience was well worth the time spent to get here. I will definately be going back here again.

I traveled 2hrs with a friend to this very delightful tea room. A+ on the decor. The food was wonderful. The butter pecan scone was truly the best scone I have had in all the tea rooms I have visited! (and that's a lot)
The server was very personable & attentive.
It was definitely worth the trip & we plan to go another time.
And those who have mentioned former management no longer there, give the new management a chance, I believe you will be satisfied.

I was so sad to learn the tearoom is under new management when I went for lunch. We have been coming to the tearoom for a few years now. Luckily, it looks the same and Nancy is still there, but it just feels different. Just want to tell the Pieris we miss you and wish you well. It's just not the same without you.

We have been visiting Serendipity for a few years now and were saddened to learn that Piper and Don decided to sell the tearoom. Celebrating our birthdays there has become a family tradition. From Piper's delicious menu and attention to every detail to Don letting us sample the wonderful desserts and ice cream, we will truly miss you. Serendipity Tearoom was a Wonderful place to visit. Good Luck to Piper & Donny now that they have sold the Tearoom. We will always remember having Lite Tea at 'Our Table.' We enjoyed coming from the very beginning all the way up until the day they closed their door for the last time.
Piper always had delicious food and paid close attention to every detail of the meals and decour in the tearoom. That's what made it SO SPECIAL. She was so attentive and made everyone feel they were the only people there. Piper definitely deserved all the great reviews and awards she recieved over the years. No one can say Serendipity Tearoom without thinking of Piper Pieri. I know our memories will always be CHERISHED. Thankyou so much Piper.

I ate here today with my Mother and daughter. We have eaten at many tea houses in the area, and we have all three agreed this one is at the top of our list. The food was superb. Piper and Nancy were wonderful, friendly hostesses. Even though Serendipity is about a 50 minute drive for us, we will definitely make a return visit.

My mother and I recently visited Serendipity for a Mother's Day lite tea. We had never been there before, but heard so many great things (all of which were true). Our server was friendly, quick, and fun (she even took our picture at the table). The food was delicious from the scones to the sandwiches. Piper was an excellent host and made us feel so welcome. The decor was beautiful and vintage, there were so many details to appreciate. We had such a lovely time and plan on coming back for lunch very soon.

I took my Mom and sister to Serendipity and couldn't have picked a better time. The holiday decor was beautiful. They even lit the beautiful candelabra during our lunch. The food was amazing (we took chicken salad and scones home), the service spot on, and the attention to detail was perfect down to the floral decorated sugar cubes. We enjoyed our lovely afternoon and will visit again for sure.

I had the pleasure of spending a December afternoon at Serendipity Tea Room with my Best Friend. I was an adorable place with lovely decor and exceptional service (hats too!). I would recommend it to everyone.
We had full tea with salad, soup, sandwiches and dessert. Being vegetarian they did a nice job of meeting my needs, the soup and dessert were my favs but above all the tea was lovely.

I visited Serendipity for high tea with my best friend as a pre-Christmas treat. We had such an amazing time. The ambiance is just perfect - clean and cute. The food and tea was wonderful. I highly recommend the Apricot tea, which was on special that day. It was so good I ended up buying some to bring home.
I think the best part of my experience (besides the food which was really yummy) was the service. Everyone was happy and knowledgeable, willing to go out of their way without hovering or being overbearing. I never felt rushed, which was great because I could have stayed all day! Can't wait to go back again!

I visited Serendipity for the first time in December. I honestly felt like I was in a Dickens Village scene. The victorian decor was beautiful, the food was wonderful (I can't stop thinking about the chicken salad and carrot cake ice cream), and the staff (Nancy) was so sweet. This sweet little tea room is packed with Victorian charm and accents. Beautifully coordinated china, napkins, decorations. I hosted a surprise birthday tea for a friend and couldn't have been any happier with the results. The food, as always, was fresh and delicious. The staff is so very friendly and pleasant. Piper, the owner, was so very helpful and gave attention to all the details I requested - china colors, decorations, napkins, tweaks to the menu - all part of my plan. The guest of honor even had a rose-decorated happy-birthday cup. My lucky guests all took home a half-pound of Serendipity's wonderful chicken salad. A perfectly lovely day!

I had the good luck to find this enchanting tea room while visiting the area. My friend and I stopped for lunch and were treated to the most fabulous chicken salad plate I've ever experienced! We celebrated my daughters 6th birthday at Serendipity Tea Room and throughly enjoyed the experience. The wait staff were friendly and very helpful. The Princess party consisted of a special Pink Lemohenade in their own teapots that they served in their own Saucer and cups. They had grilled cheese sandwiches shaped like hearts and strawberries. The dessert was strawberry ice cream with real strawberries in it. The experience was really enjoyable and we hope to do it again.

I went here with my family for a mother day/birthday tea. Tea here was fantastic involved several courses - soup, salad, sandwiches, dessert, in addition to the varieties of tea. Also included in the group was an almost 5 year old girl. Not only did they handle my mom, and my sister's mother-in-law's mother's day tea/meals, but also they prepared a special Princess tea for my niece which consisted of a grilled cheese sandwich in the shape of a heart, strawberries, and marshmallow treats (and of course her very own little tea pot) as well as a set of stickers to play with. The two men in my group (dad and brother) were also very pleased at the variety of the tea and courses.
The location is also along a river and in a quiet overall area with quaint shops.
It was a fun time for all. We were very pleased. I had 9 adults and 1 child in my group.

I am a very skeptical person who really has to enjoy a place to want to eat/socialize somewhere,and I would eat there everyday if I could-its delicious. I went to this tea room with friends. The decor is charming. It isn't the biggest tea room that I have been to but it was the nicest. The food is good. The tea come in a wide variety. The desserts, especially the ice cream, make it definitely worth your while to make the trip. The hostess is very friendly and knowledgeable.

I didn't think it could get better, but you need to see this tearoom decorated for Valentines Day. So sweet I didn't want to leave. We visited the other day during the snow and I felt like I was in a Dickens Village scene! Enjoyed a white chocolate sconce and apricot tea. The chicken salad was wonderful as usual. We always spent afternoons sipping tea in my childhood, making me feel grown up. Now as an middle aged adult, Im repaying my mom for those special moments! This close to the holidays you managed to come through with such welcoming and honest service. We couldve spent hours looking around your shop at all the amazing collections you have. As well as being able to actually cross off a few from my xmas list with your available gift arrangements! We LOVED the selection of teas! And being able to actually unwind with conversation and very well prepared food brought back old memories!

WOW! My mother and I attended 'Lite Tea' with 4 courses this past Saturday. The entire experience was amazing... 1st, White Chocolate Scone. 2nd, Homemade Creamy Chicken and Dumpling Soup. 3rd, Homemade Chicken Salad Sandwich with Homemade Cranberry Relish and Tomato Bacon Basil Grilled Cheese. 4th, Cranberry Cookie, A Peanut Butter Truffle and Homemade Cheesecake. We enjoyed every last crumb of the meal. They have an amazing amount of tea to choose from, including decaf. The decaf 'House Tea' Apricot was delish! We look forward to going back in December 'just because'. Wonderfully decorated. Pleasant and cheerful staff.

My friend and I just happened to find Serendipity on the internet... We are so glad we did! The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. There was a huge variety of teas including decaffeinated ones. I personally had the decaf Apricot tea. I ordered the special of the day which was 1 chicken salad sandwich, a raspberry salad topped with feta cheese and walnuts, and a scoop of ice cream for dessert! In addition to that, both my friend and I ordered the homemade Raspberry Cheesecake... It was WONDERFUL!!! We are definitely spreading the word to our friends and family. It was truly a great experience!

Wonderful experience. Atmosphere charming,relaxing. China cups, tea pots and dishes accessorized with linens and candles made it especially inviting. The variety of teas(bags) to choose from was extensive. Apricot and Ginger- Peach (Ashby) brand were delicious. We had high tea and taste and presentation left you satisfied and excited for the next course. The chicken salad sandwich with the cranberry relish on the side was scrumptous! Yummmm...so good. The 'grilled cheese' sandwich with balsamic spread was absolutely wonderful too.(Served hot). Beef vegetable soup with noodles was delicious. Great pairing if you choose to do lunch instead of high tea. Can't wait to go back for either. Our server was pleasant and very attentative. Courses kept on coming. Always attentative to our tea pot and water always hot and full. Had to get the dessert course to go. Full. She packed up a high tea to go. My sister said' you brought everything'; went straight for the scone.Thought the apricot tea was great. She enjoyed it as well, but unfortunately we couldn't take the ambiance to her. Plan to return for lunch or high tea for her birthday celebration in Dec. Well worth the one hour and 15 minute drive. Enjoyed Serendipity. Would recommend you take your best friends for a treat. Shopping in quaint little block too.

I've been to tea several times with my girlfriends, but this time I talked my hubby into going. He admitted he was pleasantly surprised. We loved our lunch and dessert and took a pound of chicken salad home. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and will definitely be back!

For my sister's 60th birthday, I took her, myself, and 2 adult daughters to The Serendipity Tea Room. Now, we have been to 3 other tearooms; however, this is BY FAR #1 on our list. Even though it was a 2 hour ride for us, it was by far so worth it! Decorations - Adorable, Cleanliness - Perfect, Food - To Die For, Hostesses - The Best Part. We will now make this 2 hour trip for special occasions such as Christmas Tea and Mother's Day. All my sister said all day was I had the best birthday ever. Thank you for making her day so special!

I had plans to meet a friend for lunch. When I opened the door I was greeted with a surprise bridal luncheon tea. My Mom, future mother-in-law, and bridesmaids were sitting at a beautifully decorated table with touches of my selected wedding color! We were served a wonderful lunch (I have been craving the lemon cranberry scone ever since)!!!! What a nice surprise in such a beautiful establishment! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! Hidden wonder! My mom and I accidentily found this wonderful tea room. We came to see my fathers family in Allenport and drove by this area twice before we turned in. The place is an oasis away from the hustle/bustle of life. When you enter you are greeted by a delightful young lady (who will be going to college this fall). Guys, she is beautiful inside and out - a rare quality in our young girls of today. The food was delicious and presented in a beautiful manner. The atmosphere was so peaceful we felt at home as we love these types of resturants. The owner was delightful and came out of the back to visit with her patrons. One of the ladies coveted an item and we all teased the owner to frisk her before she leaves. Next thing we know, she is bringing out the item in a bag to give. That is great business and a big heart. As we left, she gave us a wonderful portion of chicken salad, rolls, and cranberry sauce for mom and I to take to the hotel for a late night snack (delicious).
If I lived closer this would be the place I bring my friends and family or a place for me to run away to. You are doing a great job; good luck to the daughter in all her endeavors. God Bless.

Attended a princess tea party held in honor of my 5 year old granddaughter's birthday. The attention to detail was amazing. The owner and staff entertained the children while the adults enjoyed a buffet luncheon. Everything was so organized and adorable! What a delightful experience my friends and I had this Saturday. Piper and her daughter made us feel like family welcomed and making sure we had what we needed. The high tea was wonderful from the homemade scone,cold peach soup and the dessert trio was over the top.We meet a daughter and mother who were visiting the area and next thing you know we where all talking and enjoying tea and the lovely atmosphere-makes you feel like a 'little girl' again. The table was set with tiny teacups and teapots, princess linen napkins, and a cute craft to keep the girls busy while we waited for our lunch to be served! We decided to make this an annual event! My daughter-in-law and I started a very special 'girl's weekend' at Serendipity on 6/18/11. We selected Serendipity from 3 choices in the area based on their friendly conversation when I called for reservations. We loved the beautiful decor, the vast selection of teas, the continual good service in keeping us supplied with fresh hot water, the delicious food included in our high tea, and the excellent service we received by the entire staff. We had a chance to meet the owner who stopped at our table to make sure we were pleased. It is obvious that she takes pride in her establishment. We can highly reccomend Serendipity!!!

My friend, Maddy, introduced me to this delightful tea room recently to celebrate our birthdays. What a beautiful afternoon! We had high tea with each course being an amazing gift to unwrap and devour with pleasure. I was very impressed with every aspect of the tea from the awesome service (thank you Bridgette), the tranquil atmosphere that took me back to another time and, of course, the beautifully presented and absolutely scrumptous food. The only thing that caught me off guard was the fact that I was too full to finish my dessert??? That never happens! The Serendipity is the best kept secret in the Mon Valley. . .but no longer to me. . .I will return.

My grandmother has been taking me to tea shops for over seven years, and I have always loved going to Serendipity. The owner is lovely, and very welcoming to all her guests. The room is always decorated beautifully, no matter what the season. And if you get the chance, try sitting outside on their deck in the early spring or late summer. It's very peaceful along the river. I will admit, I have seen a better selection of tea before. But I have never had such delicate foods before. My favorites are the strawberry soup, which is a creamy summer treat, and their white chocolate scones. The atmosphere is laidback, and sure to be a smash with young ladies and grandmothers alike.

My husband and I were looking for a different place to have lunch today and I suggested we try Serendipity Tea Room. Although we live less than 5 miles away we had never visited. Boy have we been missing out!! He had the chicken bacon wrap and the homemade chicken tortelini soup and I had the chickan salad sandwich plate. The food was excellent. I loved the pomegranate iced tea. We then split a white chocolate scone which was out of this world!! The service was delivered with a smile and friendy conversation. We sat outside since it was such a beautiful day and really enjoyed our rare time together. I only wish I would have visited the inside of the tea room. We can't wait to visit again.

Everything about our visit was excellent. We had a peaceful, fun time. I truly enjoyed my mini-mind vacation as my senses of sight, smell and taste were pleased. I had my camera along and snapped beautiful pictures inside and out. After they were developed, I saw my friend's reflection in the mirror on one of the dressers which I didn't expect. Wow...really. I found Serendipity on this website while looking for a good stopping place along I-70. I am so glad I did! I didn't have a GPS so I had a little trouble finding it. It is tucked in some shops along the river. One thing is for sure-it is so worth finding! The room itself is small and wonderfully decorated. The menu offers all the things you would want for a 'tea' lunch so we had a very hard time ordering. We chose the chicken salad sandwich and it was heavenly. Even better than the chicken salad was the peach soup. I will crave that until I can go back. To finish we had a coconut cherry scone. I have eaten a lot of scones in my day (being married to a Brit), but this was incredible. I also have to give major props to Piper and her staff for looking after our girls. We had four with us ages 5-9 and they had a blast. Piper set them up with their own tea pots, a cute lunch complete with pink marshmallows and FANCY HATS! It was adorable and they loved it. When the girls got restless and we feared our tea time was out to soon, but Piper brought the girls out crafts to do so we could enjoy another cup! Really, as you can tell, we couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Serendipity Tea Room and Cafe is truly the best Tea Room experience I have ever had each time I return. I call myself Serendipity's regular 'holiday' customer. I have had the opportunity to visit Serendipity on Valentine's Day, Saint Patrick's Day, and now during the Easter season. I await in excitement the decor of the upcoming season or holiday. Piper is continuously changing her decorations and table arrangements according to the season or holiday. The food is far superior to any other tearoom I have visited thus far (my family and I have gone to at least six others in the surrounding Pittsburgh area). I couldn't have chosen a finer place for my retirement luncheon with my six dearest friends. We chose the Light Tea and all agreed that we would never have been able to finish the High Tea. The Peach Soup was fabulous as was the chocolate mint scone. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious and the desserts were definitely 'decadent'. Finishing off with a chocolate covered strawberry was over the top. My friends have said they will go back for their get togethers and I certainly will be back whenever I'm back in Pennsylvania. The entire experience was wonderful.

I would describe the atmosphere as Elegantly whimsical and Stacy and her staff go beyond expectation to make sure everyone enjoys the Teahouse. Since we knew it was a girl, Serendipity covered the tables in a pink and black baby motif linen, along with linen napkins and a pink pacifier napkin ring. So sweet!
Our menu started with a lemon cranberry scone served with lemon curd and homemade devonshire cream. Which my daughter said,'was to die for.' She is now craving them back in Las Vegas. Followed by a salad, loaded potato soup, chicken salad sandwich, and a apple turkey croissant. We ended with the most original brownie cut into the shape of a baby carriage. I would highly recommend this tea room for any group event as well as a delightful afternoon tea. We plan on going back every time we are in town.

For Mother's Day, my sister took myself, our mother and my neice to Serendipity's for an experience we will never forget. As you step through the door you are greeted by pretty pink walls, a beautiful mural, tables that are as unique as the guests that enter in, and a wonderful group of women greeting you with warm smiles and an inviting hello. They have a wide assortment of hot teas, a tasty 6 course meal at their High Tea parties and an atmosphere that is warm, enviting and second to none. It was a fabulous afternoon with a group of ladies who each told stories that touched my heart. Thank you to Stacey and the staff for making my first High Tea party an experience I will always treasure. I am now a customer for life and would love for everyone to make their own memories here at Serendipity.

I have visited many fine tea rooms in the tri-state area and Serendipity is one of the highest on my list. I was disappointed that the hot tea was served with tea bags, but the outstanding food and its presentation made up for it. Stacey offered warm and gracious hospitality to my group. From the table settings and window treatments to the hand painted mural on the wall - everything was beautiful. It was an experience I would highly recommend.

My friends and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon shopping and then having a wonderful luncheon tea. The service was great and the staff was so hospitable. We will definitely go there again, and would definitely recommend it to friends. It was a very pleasant surprise and a perfect ladies' day out.

I recently attended Serendipity Tea Room with 5 of my good friends. We had an absolute blast. The decor was terriifc. We all chose a different hat to wear during our time there. They had these hats in the tea room. I had a cup of Cinnamin Plum tea that was out of this world. The food was really, really delicious. The chicken salad with cranberry topping was to die for. Also the scones were very good. The women who waited on us could not have been nicer. They even had the name of our group The SO and SOs listed on their welcome board when we arrived. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends. I will be back for sure and probaby bring another group of ladies. Thanks Serendipity Gals for a wonderful day and Happy Holidays!

I attended a bridal shower for my nephew's fiance today at Serendipity tea oom. I HIGHLY recommend this fine establishment! The food was incredible, the chicken salad was my favorite!! The service and decor was also wonderful. They showed pictures of having a cinderella tea party for children, and I am definatley going to have my little girls next birthday there for her and her little friends, they will love being treated like a princess.

I recently hosted a bridal shower for my cousin at the Serendipity Tea Room. It exceeded my expectation for the shower. The atmosphere was perfect. The food was wonderful. The Terry sandwich and cranberry chicken salad sandwich were heavenly. The desserts were amazing. The cheesecake squares and the lady fingers were delicious. We all left with our bellies full. The owner and the server were such a delight. I would definitely recommend Serendipity Tea Room to any one that enjoys a proper tea party.

My sister, a friend and myself went for lunch to Serendipity today. This was the first time they had been to a tea room and Serendipity fulfilled all their expectations. We all had the chicken salad sandwich served with a cranberry relish which we highly recommend. Dessert is lucious and the graceousness of the hostess and waitress were superb. We will be sure and go for lunch there again soon.

I have been to Serendipity 3 or 4 times now and I had a baby shower there for a dear friend. The food was great along with the atmosphere. It is so cozy and I will be going again for my birthday. Their scones and devonshire cream are the best along with the Chicken Salad sandwich - awesome!!!!
