We are a tea room, where one can go back in time and enjoy the lost art of conversation, while enjoying the perfect pot of tea! We have strived over the years to create a unique experience.
The teahouse is located at 20 Old Newark Pompton Turnpike, which is in the historic section of the Township of Wayne. This house is listed with the Wayne Historical Society as the first official post office, which at the time was the Ryerson – De Mott General Store, dating back to 1895. Over the years we have had customers come in and tell us stories of life as it was back then.
Since we are a small tea room, with only have a limited amount of tables, we encourage reservations to insure there will be a table ready for you when you arrive.
Each guest is served their own pot of tea in a lovely hand made cozy. This allows the last cup of tea to taste as delicious as the first cup. We offer over forty different types of tea; Black, Green, White, Rooibus, and Herbal. With each season we also showcase “limited” teas to our guests.

My Daughter took me to the Tea Room for Mother's Day. It was a surprise and a wonderful delight! I really enjoyed everything. Our Server was the most delightful young lady!!!! Wish I could remember her name. :( It is very refreshing to find something so enjoyable in our area. They must be well liked as they were very busy that day. I would recommend the Tea Room to anyone for any time but especially as a lovely celebration for Birthdays or Graduation or Anniversary. 5 stars!!!

Absolutely the best tea house around! I am a very long-time and happy customer. Once you walk inside, you feel as though you have been transported back in time to a Victorian tea parlor. The most amazing collection of loose teas and each customer gets to choose their own pot of tea. It's so much fun to gather with a group of family and friends and everyone can have a taste of each other's teas. The owner goes above and beyond to be helpful, friendly and accommodating. The staff is fabulous -- very knowledgeable and friendly. I love the old world decor and all of the teas and tea-related items for purchase. They have theme parties from time to time which are alot of fun.
The scones are delicious, especially the caramel ones. The salads are fresh, the little tea sandwiches yummy and the china is so pretty and dainty. There is usually no room left in our bellies for the plated dessert at the end of the meal, but you can take it home if you like.
I have called on the telephone to inquire about special holiday teas, and the staff has answered all my questions and let me order over the phone and have the tea delivered straight to my door. I recommend this tea house to everyone I know and always come for tea when my mom visits from Florida.
Reservations in advance are definitely recommended - this is a very popular and busy tea house and they also do lovely baby and bridal showers.

OMG! Attention 'tea party' lovers...High SocieTea House is the place to be!
I just hosted my daughter's bridal shower there this weekend and it was amazing...
Leanne, the sweetest, most knowledgeable hostess in the world, helped me plan everything, even the favors. She was so helpful as we discussed the menu, and she was always available to answer all of my questions. I just love her!
The staff was friendly, the food delicious, especially the little chicken salad with apple sandwiches. Yum! The desserts were scrumptious, especially the mini chocolate tea cup with chocolate mousse! To die for...and everything is served in colorful cups and plates. Plus, there is a cute gift shop on premisis that has the most original little trinkets. I just can't say enough about this cute little place!
It was a magical day for my daughter and her closest friends. They all agreed it was the best party ever! My mom said it was 'unique.'
This place is a MUST see...whether you stop in for a relaxing cup of tea, or have a party, you won't be disappointed!

I'm a huge fan of afternoon teas and make it a habit to try them, this is by far my favorite on many levels. Great ambience (so cozy and cute, love the fireplace!), the food is actually TASTY, the scones are warm, there is a HUGE variety of high quality tea, and unlike some other places, you're not JUST paying for the 'experience' here, it's actually a great value.
I've done the fancy (and not-so-fancy) afternoon teas in NYC, and it's not a huge generalization to say that you pay for the 'experience.' Neither the food nor the tea are stellar (or at least not up to par with the price). You're really paying to sit in a pretty/lovely room and enjoy some gab time with lady friends with no rush or pressure from the staff. While you still get that 'experience' at High Societea, I definitely felt like I also got great tea, food, and friendly service. I love that they have a changing menu the reflects what's locally and seasonally available.
We had a slight mix-up over the reservation but the hostess was very accommodating and was able to move us back 30 minutes. We were only the 3rd group there at 11:30 on Saturday but it was quite full by the time we left around 1pm. I had the Queen's Tea and both my mom and sister got the Princess Tea. It was definitely a lot of food. We took 2 of our scones and all the plated desserts (3 servings, one for each of us) to go.
They have seasonal house-blended teas, I loved my winter tea (Snowflake?) and bought some loose to take home. They also have a gift store area near the entrance with lots of cute tea accessories and nifty gift items. I would definitely recommend a reservation.
My one suggestion would be that I wish they had some sort of email or online reservation system. I would prefer a confirmation and/or other more convenient way of making a reservation.

Such a charming establishment! You are greeted at the door with the small shop where you can purchase all sorts of things a tea lover would appreciate. They have a nice selection of teas; I am glad they serve traditional black, oolong, green and white along with a host of flavored combinations, plus rooibus and tisanes. Both traditional finger sandwiches and warm savories are served. I have been to this tea room several times and have always had a pleasant experience with the staff. I look forward to going back whenever I can!

High SocieTea was extremely accommodating last week (in iffy winter weather) for my group of 7 women. They were patient and helpful and served us a wonderful tea doing all they could (even taking photos for us) to make our afternoon as pleasant as could be. It was much appreciated and we will definitely be back there again. Thank you.

I love bringing friends and family to High SocieTea House for their first time visit! It is always such an enjoyable atmosphere and the freshest and tastiest food. My father grew up in England so we like to make special afternoon visits which feel like a little trip back home for him.

I've been to HighSocietea for lunch, dinner and private parties. It does not disappoint. It's an adorable restaurant with warm friendly owners and service. Theres a giant selection of loose leaf teas, some of African, English, Irish and Russian origin. Too many to name but I have never had one of their teas I didn't enjoy. If you want a delicious meal or dessert and an interesting experience stop in. I especially love their home mad soups, innovative salads, lemon bars, maple bars and margarita pies.

I just recently went to High Societea with my sister and niece. We have been there many times and always have a wonderful experience. The scones are absolutely delicious and the tea selection is great. My absolute favorite is the chicken salad (wish I had the recipe)!! Can't wait to go back.

High SocieTea House has atmosphere, very welcoming and very comfortable. We sampled several different teas, all brewed to order from loose leaves. They serve scones, clotted cream and delicious sandwiches. My experience brought back fond memories of the tea I had in London. I look forward to going back again.

A disappointed regular
I STILL have yet to find a tearoom that is as excellent as this one. My boyfriend enjoys this teahouse as well. I have been to many tearooms in NJ and in Florida and nothing compares to this place. We will always be loyal customers. ☺

I just love this adorable tea house.. Always decorated so nice for each season, christmas, spring ect.. and they also change the special food items for the seasons as well. The teas offered are so vast that it is hard to pick just one favorite. The scones are served warm and are the best ever !! If you would like to have a special treat you need to visit this tea house !!!!!!!

Great food. Great decor. The owner was vey graciousw but our server was lacking in energy. Another thing, when you make a reservation, check to see if there is a special party going on. Our tea was next to about 10 young and very loud women celebrating a birthday. We couldn't hear our server describing the teas or even have a conversation. Tea is about quiet relaxation, not a game show.

Loved it! My 1st time & it reminded me of tea with my great Aunt Eliza who was English & had a set that looked just like the beautiful rose set at my place setting. I loved the old silver look & the holiday Ginger bread tea, need to go back to see if I can purchase & am getting my Mom a gift certificate for Christmas. Can't wait to go back.
-
Debbie
I have been to High SoceiTea too many times to count. This past Saturday attended their brunch which featured the Christmas Carolers. Everything, teas, the food, service was perfect as always. The only thing I didn't like was that I could barely hear the carolers above the chatting in the room (filled to capacity!). Not much you can do about that. We also never felt rushed, and where that last to leave of the room, even when it was apparent they were getting ready for the next group coming in. Always a joy, friends and I try to do this once every few months!

I love this pretty tea house! Everything is very feminine and beautifully decorated especially around Christmas! There is a wonderful gift shop which I think is a great thing to have...especially after the Christmas House Tour in Pompton Plains....you are really in the mood to buy something...the food is excellent!! Can't wait to go!!

I have been to many many tea houses in New Jersey and by far this was the best! Right when you walk in to the beautiful gift shop then get seated in a cozy wonderfully decorated room at your own table with your own personal setting to every different person. I was there on a Friday afternoon and I brought my friend with me for her first time and she loved it! Being greeted by one of the owners Colleen, to explaining what was on the menu and showing us special holiday teas. She then sent over our two servers Anna and Jaclyn to take our order and help us pick out the right tea (they were very helpful as there were so many teas to pick from). They were so helpful, polite and always right there to see if we needed anything. I was impressed when we asked for some hot water to warm up our tea and the girls brewed us a whole new pot of tea! That was very nice of these two young ladies, we could not have asked for better servers as they were excellent! The Scones were delicious, the caramel and cranberry and white chocolate I even had to take some home. The savories and sweets were so good and filled us up we had to take our deserts home! I will be back and I recommend this tea room to everyone! Very relaxing and great atmosphere, see you soon!

This place is absolutely AWESOME and always my first choice when choosing a tea experience!
The first time I had tea here was February 14, 2010 and since then I have dined here over 6 more times and I just can't get enough. I've already brought a variety of different friends to this tea house and everyone loved it (including 3 men). The staff is pleasant, the food is exquisite, and the decor divine.
I invited a non-tea drinking friend here a few weeks ago to join a group of us and he was impressed with the special salad he ordered since he doesn't go in for this 'tea stuff.' He is also a very difficult to please person, yet he was pleased.
As long as you have reservations, arrive on time, and are considerate about the fact that you can't stay forever (even though you want to) when they have other reservations coming in you should have a wonderful experience.

I recently had the pleassure of joining some friends at the High Societea House. What a remarkable experience! The service was excellant and we did not want for a thing. The room was filled with lovely customers who seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as our table did. We shared comments about the delicious food being served(items I have never had before like their cumcumber sandwiches and homemade scones with a delightful jam!)Amongst the different varieties of tea,I was so pleased that they had decaffinated as well because I cannot have caffiene. All of the food being served was fresh and filling. I was stuffed when I left.We even bought home the leftovers! After wonderful conversation, great service and great food, I shopped in their adorable gift shop and bought teas for myself(decaf of course) and some gifts for friends, all at a very reasonable price!! Being a Realtor, I know how important good service is to my customers and clients and I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND this tea house to anyone that wants to have a wonderful time with family and friends!! My compliments to the owners and their staff! GOOD TIMES!!

What a Wonderful Experience. I have traveled from Pennsylvania with Friends and family on several occassions to visit this Tea House for holidays, Mothers Day Tea and even an Angel Card Reading with Queens Tea and they never disappoint! The attention to detail, enviting decor, quality food and exceptional service makes this Tea House more then just a place to visit it's a place to create a memory...What a great way to spend the afternoon with people you care about. I'll be back again and again!

I and 24 of my friends go to High SocieTea House two times a year. Once to celebrate all of our Birthdays as we are all from different area's so we combined all our Birthday's, the other is the Holiday of the Christmas Gala's that (along with many more)are absolately wonderful.
Our party started going to the High SocietyTea House with a group of 8 friends 4 years ago increasing over the years up to a group of 24 friends. Over these years daughters, grand children and new friends have joined our group.
We will always attend these events every year as everyone insists we keep this tradition contine to watch our group grow and see each other in a warming environment.
The Food, Teas and Service have been showing us the heart and sole shared, starting with all the owners. Barbara has always been one of the PROFESSION women there along with any 'young' servers there, I can also speak that the girls have treated our party with the same professional and would perfer having them being one of our servers.
This truly is a WONDERFUL experience and would recommend High SocieTea House to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and rememberable day. You'll come to visit High SocieTea House over and over. I wouldn't be surprised if you created your own Memories.
I would also like to mention that 16 of our group attending take the 1 hour and 40 minute drive, as we agree the drive is well worth it.
I would also like to mention Bernadette & Colleen, the other Owners, are also as Professional and Warming.
You walk out of High SocieTea House with a 'Memorizing' feeling as to 'when are we going back?'

I was the guest of honor recently at the tea room for my baby shower. What a disaster!!!!!
To begin with my mother whom threw the shower was told to be there at 10:45. She showed up to be locked out of the tea room and then told to stand on the porch while it was pouring out until the owner was ready. The owner (Barbara) was the hostess that day with her young servers. It was a surprise shower with 24 guests! When I arrived i greeted some of my guests and was promptly told by the owner Barbara that I was to sit down, the food was coming out and that we were on a time crunch due to another party coming in after mine.
I was there for 15 minutes before i was told to open my gifts. While i was opening my gifts Barbara asked me to hurry it up, because it was taking too long.
I asked several times for a glass of water which I never got, and I asked for decaffeinated tea and was told there was none.
The servers took away the food before my guests were done, and the favor basket that was put together by my mother was taken apart and the favors were handed out and the guests were asked to step outside to say goodbyes so that they could clean up for the next party.
The owner's demeanor during the shower was rushed, not pleasant and all 24 of my guests complained that they will never come back to the tea room again due to poor service.
Moral of the story don't book a private party at this tea room!!!!

I love this place! I went for Queen's tea with my sister recently and everything was spectacular. The cranberry and caramel scones are the best, the soup, salad and quiche were all excellent. We also enjoyed the delicious savories assortment and finger sandwiches we were given. The service is top notch - I love that the servers wear cute little aprons! I purchased tea and scone mix to enjoy at home, as well as some gift items - I really love the gift shop area. It is a wonderful place to spend time with loved ones and truly makes for a memorable experience!

Had Tea Nov. 7th. They food was excellent and plentiful. A very good selection of teas prepared the proper way. The Queen Tea more than enough and good variety. Had taken some home. The service was excellent staff let us stay as long as we wanted and I appreciated the little tea tutorial before ordering.

A tearoom that lives up to the hype! There are very few tea houses that are worth making a special trip for--this is definitely one of them. Just be sure to make a reservation FAR in advance. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to go, but couldn't because there were no available tables.

I dropped into this tea house yesterday with a friend I was visiting, and had a wonderful relaxing experience. There was an excellent selection of teas to choose from, and the food was delicious. I own a tea house in the San Francisco Bay Area and I could not have found a better place to have a nice relaxing time with a friend I had not seen for over 5 years. The service was also excellent. Thanks again for such a delightful afternoon tea experience.

I have visited so many tea houses and this by far is the best. The unique decor, the delicious food and beverage
definitely sets this apart from all the rest. I think the staff here is also remarkable. The hostesses and the sweet young servers add to the delight of dining here. What a beautiful place to fellowship with friends over a delicious cup of tea
and fine desserts. Thank you Barbara
and friends for bringing such character and class to Wayne.

I was recently honored at a retirement celebration held at your High SocieTea House. EVERYTHING was perfect. The attention paid to the details was exceptional(Rosebuds in the clotted cream, for example). All of the ladies in attendance had a wonderful time, and we enjoyed the opportunity to wear our 'tea' hats. They even remembered me with gifts right from your lovely gift shop! It was a memorable afternoon. I'm really looking forward to my next visit. Thanks!

For my 50th Birthday 3 of my cousin's (like sisters to me) brought me to High SocieTea House. WOW what an experience! For start to finish it was a wonderful lunch. From the tea, scones, salad, soup, quiche, assorted savories, sweets, & dessert. The decor is beautiful! The staff, service, & even their gift shop was fantastic. I can't stop raving about High SocieTea House! I absolutely loved it! Everything about this establishment was truly wonderful. I would recommend the High SocieTea House to anyone who truly wants to enjoy a unique experience. I was planning my next visit before I left. I gave 'The Queen's Tea' to my mother-in-law and her mom for their Mother's Day gift. We will be making reservations soon. I can't wait...they are going to love it!

I took my sister-in-law here for a relaxing afternoon in anticipation of her upcoming wedding. This was our first tea house experience. I was nervous taking her to a place neither of us had been before because she is a trained pastry chef and self-proclaimed food critic. We LOVED it. The scones were delicious. The service was pleasingly slow and we enjoyed almost two hours of gabbing, an abundance of tea and tasty treats. We decided we would make it a tradition to treat each other on our birthdays. Cannot wait to come back!!

In reponse to Taylor's review on 11/17/08, I believe the High Societea that Taylor is referring to is located in Brisbane, Australia.
I too had a very similar experience with Taylor with the Brisbane High Societea - the male manager had absolutely zero people skill and tried charge us for meals we did not order. On top of that he refused to refund my $100 booking deposit. It is nice to sea some teahouses doing the right thing and such good reviews from your customers. It's a shame you are on the other side of the globe though or I'd most definitely be visiting you.

I can't say enough great things about High Societea. It is EVERYTHING you would expect in a tea experience. Charming decor, excellent food at reasonable prices and a wait staff that won't rush you. I've been to the tearoom twice and will be back again very soon.
-
Lori
I have been to High Socitea MANY time with many different friends and have NEVER had a bad experience. It would have been interesting for Taylor to have posted the street address or city in which the tea house she visited was so we can stay away -- it certainly was not this one since everyone has always been overly friendly and helpful here!!
-
Andrea
Went without reservation and was greeted warmly and efficiently. Had the 'princess tea' which included soup, salad, scones, and savories-all fantastic! The butternut squash pear soup paired nicely with the salad of feta, almonds, and pomegranate viniagrette. The caramel scones and homemade lemon curd were delightful. Plan to make a third, 4th, and many more trips back in the future.

Bernadette, Barbara & Colleen,
I can attest to the fact that Taylor has the wrong Tea house. Recently I visited several Tea rooms in NJ, NY and PA. You have outdone them all. The food, service and the teas you serve as well as the atmosphere is the best I've experienced. I plan to continue to visit as often as possible. I should also add that my daughter Tara's bridal shower you catered was impressive. My family and friends still talk about it even though it was two years ago! Thanks.
-

If you do not have a male manager I must be mistaken with another store of the same name. If this is the case I am sorry to cause such a disturbance. All I can say is that it is a shame you have to share your business name with such places as I have visited. And judging by the service values you listed, perhaps you could teach the other same name shops a thing or two about customer service.

I called from North Carolina to arrange a gift certificate for my friend. They were so lovely and accomodating on the phone. I made sure I went to see them next time I was up. A cup of tea always tastes better when someone else makes it with love. Wonderful place for mothers, daughters, sisters, friends. Will be back again and again.Come to relax, I urge stuffy, uptight people not to come, you may be dissapointed as you usually are..wouldn't want you to mess up the great karma of this jewel of a place .

My sister and I have made High Societea like our spa therapy. We try to go every other week, although we do sometimes end up going EVERY week. We love the featured teas they bring around to see and smell. The food is delicious and the service is always pleasant, Ana is so sweet. It's very relaxing. We go there to unwind from our hectic lives and as soon as we sit down we feel like we can breath...never rushed. Thank you for making such a lovely place for tea. Our only complaint is we wish you were open more days of the week (and were a little closer to us). :)

I had arranged to have my friends bridal shower at this tea house in May. Prior to the party the mother of the bride and I had enjoyed a meal at the tea house to taste to food and make the menu. The food and decor where wonderful but I have to say I was very disappointed with the service. The women who where serving the tea where very slow. I have heard this from many guest. With that said I still had a wonderful time and am now throwing a small baby shower for a coworker at this establishment. I will make sure I am more assertive with the servers about checking on us more, so that my guest can have the most enjoyable experince possible.

I love going to different tea houses, and High SocieTea has (by far!) been the most impressive, and most enjoyable tea house for me. No other tea house has scones that even COMPARE to the ones at High Societea, and the service makes the experience all the more perfect. The owner welcomes you in and seats you, while a pretty waitress takes your order and pours your tea. The food is outstanding, the decor is beautiful, and you'll be planning your next visit before you leave.

We had tea at High Societea on Sunday. It was wonderful and scrumptious! The staff was friendly and explained the teas and the food very well. I love the extra desert to take home. It is a nice surprise! The server did explain that the check was at the front desk when we were ready to leave. We enjoyed it and hope to go again!
-
AJ
I enjoyed my time here, but was very annoyed to find the server never available when we needed to pay. I went here twice and it happened both times. I kind of ruins the event for me. I DID however LOVE their food, especially the caramel scones. So, with the matter of the cashier service changing I would say it's close to the top of my list.

We held a bridal shower at High Societea in January 2008 and had a wonderful time. I have never been to a tea house before and was plaesantly surprised with the amount and presentation of the food. The scones were absolutely divine. I can not wait to go back with some girlfriends or my mother. Service was excellent!!!

What an extraordinary find! My mother, sister, and I thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea at High SocieTea. We ordered the Princess tea, which included scones, clotted cream, lemon curd, soup or salad, sandwiches, and tea of course. everything was wonderful, but the service, the scones, and the general ambiance of High SocieTea were especially outstanding. We will go again soon!

My husband and I had brunch at the tea room today. This is not a usual event, and we didn't know what to expect. Well, there were several courses, each more delicious than the last. There were pancakes, 2 of them pumpkin which is my favorite, fruit, scones, quiche, 2 sandwiches, and 3 desserts. The portions were not huge, but we brought home the desserts and a sandwich. I may have forgotten a course or two! There was more than enough food to satisfy us.
And the waitress kept offering to fill our tea cups. I had Christmas Cookie tea, which is a tasty as it sounds.
There were carolers, as well. All in all, a wonderful way to spend a morning!
-
frustrated with unprofessionalism
I was very disappointed. The service was not friendly, and the food was unremarkable. Lastly, the attention to detail was poor, which is what I believe makes a memorable and enjoyable tea party. For this tearoom being talked up as much as it is, it served to be unimpressive.

THIS WAS MY 1ST VISIT..THE FOOD WAS TASTY....BUT WAS EXPECTING OPTIONS...YOUR CAN HAVE TEA W YOUR CHOICE OF LEVELS BUT THAT IS IT..THERE IS NO MENU IF YOU JUST WANTED A SANDWICH.....THE SCONCES WERE WONDERFUL HAD THE COMPLETE QUEENS TEA ..HER PUMPKIN SOUP WAS VERY GOOD BUT THE CRUSTLESS QUICHE ALTHOUGH TASTY ..WAS REALLY MORE LIKE AND OMELETTE THEN A QUICHE...THE PLACE IS NICELY DECORTED AND THE LADIES VERY PLEASANT ...I LIKED IT VERY MUCH BUT DID NOT UNDERSTAND HOW IT RANKS AS NO1.....THAT SHOULD BE TEABERRY'S...THEN HAVE A MORE EXTENSIVE MENU...INCLUDING SANDWICHES AND SALADS AND SOUPS... AND COMBINATIONS...IT ALSO HAS A MUCH LARGER SELECTION OF ITEMS TO PURCHASE..WHETHER FOR YOURSELF OR GIFTS....BETTER ATTENTION TO DETAILS AND GREAT FOOD SELECTION..WITH MORE ITEMS SERVED WITH THE QUEENS MEAL.....

I visited High SocieTea today with several of my co-workers & it was more elegant & beautiful than we expected it to be. We planned this brunch over a month ago & couldn't wait for this day to arrive. The food was delicious & the teas very tasty. We all bought some of the merchandise to take home. I am planning to return with my three girlfriends for our monthly get together in late October. I've told them about it & they can't wait. It's really nice to find a tea house so lovely in NJ & not have to travel to NY. I would definitely recommend High SocieTea to anyone that is interested in elegance & the prices were very reasonable. The overall theme, decorations, & elegant utensils were out of this world. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate High SocieTea a 20:)

I was introduced to this enchanted tearoom by my best friend for my birthday and can't stop thinking of the wonderful experience, starting with the delicious varieties of teas, those scruptious scones, the caramel ones are especially my favorite. Then the salad that is decorated with a hint of nuts and cheese and just the right amount of dressing is perfect and the quiche that accompanies it is so light. And then just when you think you can't eat another bite...here come the finger sandwiches and dessert. The service was very nice it was such an enjoyable experience I'm excited to visit again.
-
Heidi
The atmosphere is just lovely and is complimentary to the food and tea. Excellent caramel scones compliment the tea. The staff is very courteous and helpful. I especially appreciate the later hours that are offered and give me the opportunity to meet friends for high tea after work. Can't wait to go back!

I was delighted to learn that there was a Tea House in my neighbourhood and even more delighted when one of my closest friends and I visited High Society. The hostess Colleen welcomed us warmly and we felt a beautiful sense of calm and serenity. The scones were warm and ever so delicious and those cucumber finger sandwiches were wonderfully tasty. I ordered the tiberian tea which I simply loved. Choosing from the large selection of teas was a fun part of the evening. It was such a memorable tea-time that I returned the next day with my Mum and three friends who all raved about the experience. We will be returning very soon.

My aunts, mother, grandmother and my sisters went there as a gift for my mother's anniversary present. My father and brother could not be there, so I was the only guy in the whole place so I was reluctant to go, but it was still pretty interesting. We had the $25 deal and the food was good, especially the scones with the clotted cream. And the teas were really good, even though I'm not a frequent tea drinker. Our favorites were the Tibetan Tiger, the Dragon Pearl Jasmine, and the Jewel tea. The place had a very friendly hostess and the waitresses had great hospitality. My family can't wait for another chance to go.

What a darling place! I attended a small shower and was delighted with the event. We had the Queens Tea and everything was yummy...left feeling full! The teas were the best I have had and purchased many to try at home. The Brides Tea, Peach & Apricot & Hawaiian Blends were favs.
Slightly disappointed in the table service, young girls were not great table hosts and looked unhappy..cheerful service with a smile makes a big difference. Non the less I will certainly be going back for another visit!

i brought my mother in law for the queens tea today (may 10)to celebrate mothers day. what an absolutely wonderful place! we started with a delicious broccoli and cheese quiche and a salad of fresh greens with goat cheese, slivered almonds and a delicious vinegrette, followed by cranberry white chocolate scones and their signature carmel scones- so delicious and light! not dry at all, especially topped with their super deeelish homemade clotted cream, followed by a platter of sandwhiches that includes cream cheese and cucumber, eggsalad, an eggplant tapanade one with motzarella cheese, a bagette with warm artichoke spread and an amazing chicken salad one, followed by raspberry cobbler squares, triangles of chocolate brownies topped with coconut and 3 cookies that my 2 year old ate up faster than i could even sneak a bite! finally we were offered a margarita pie slice or a slice of white cake with a chocolate frosting- both wonderful choices. i had the earl grey tea- brewed perfectly and my daughter had the tiger tea that was so flavorful! my mother in law...had the carmel italian soda-she wasnt in the mood for tea. the service was outstanding. the decor is just delightful. everything about this place is truly wonderful!

My sister and I visited High SocieTea on Sunday, May 6th for the very first time and we very much enjoyed ourselves and will most defintely be back.
The tea selections are fabulous! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the caramel scones which were just to die for! The tomato-basil soup was excellent also! We can't wait to go back.

I held one of my bestfriend's bridal shower here in mid-February and everything was absolutely fantastic. Colleen was lovely from the beginning to the end, she offered suggestions on the menu selection, coordinated the entire event and made it stress-free for me. I recommend this place for small intimate get togethers! It was worth it.

My friend treated me to a wonderful afternoon at this tea house. An extremely pleasant and memorable time thanks to the victorian decor, the exquisite food and the superb service! A very quaint restaurant that is sure to impress the most discerning critic! Absolutely loved it. Colleen was our hostess and was as pleasant and helpful as could be. She even brought out samples of different tea leaves on a little brass plate for us to smell the aroma of before ordering our selection of tea.

Our family has been enjoying tea houses and tea rooms in NJ and Pa. We have voted High SocieTea House in Wayne, NJ #1. Colleen one of the 3 owners greets & seats you. She then passes 3 dishes of tea leaves for you to observe and enjoy the fragrance of as she tells you about each. You may select your special tea from among many offerings. I chose the Queens Tea that offered soup/quiche or soup/salad, scones, cookies, assorted finger sandwiches and so much more. Believe me, you won't go away hungary! Jolie, our server, was a delight and most helpful in our selections. The rooms are beautifully decorated in the victorian manner. The tables boast linens and lace with linen napkins to protect your clothing. Do try High SocieTea. You'll be as favorably impressed as we were.

Sorry to say I was extremely disappointed in your teahouse.Sandwiches were soggy and my tea was served lukewarm. Inelegant to say the least! I have visited many teahouses throughout the world, and know true artistry when I see it! You are nothing but a pretender to the throne!

I was very disappointed in my visit to this tea house. The place was charming enough, but the owner had to be one of the most rudest service industry person I have ever met. Our server was nice enough. The food and tea was tasty. Someone forgot to make one of our guests order (not sure if it was the server or kitchen person), so she had to wait. When asked about the order again, we were told that it was coming out shortly. Upon the third time asking about it, my guest said that she had to leave soon, and could not wait much longer, so unless it was ready then, to cancel the order. My friend left about 15 minutes after that. The owner came to us and asked who was going to pay for that order. We told her that it was never brought out on time and we told the server to cancel that. The owner told us we would still have to pay. I told the owner that we would not pay for it. Upon leaving, the owner would not allow us to see the bill - she just told us how much each person owed, saying that she split the bill for us so we wouldn't have to. I told her I wanted to see the bill anyway, and she refused. The total was a little higher than I thought it should be so I think she charged us for the order. We didn't want to continue fighting with her, so we all paid and left. It's a shame because this place is very close to where I live and I love going out for tea. There aren't too many tea houses around. Still, I don't think I would visit this place again.

I attended a party here recently and while the tea was wonderful, the food was very sparse, the air condioning inadequate, the attitude of the hostess was dismal , and from what I heard, it was overpriced for what you received. I wouldn't recommend this for an event, but rather an afternoon visit.

Finally, a charming, wonderful, original place to lunch in Wayne! I've always traveled far from Wayne to have lunch with girlfriends because of a lack of unique places to eat in town. Now I am proud and excited to invite my friends to this wonderful tea house! You will have a delightful time and enjoy the best lunch in town! Can't wait to go back!!

My mother and I went to the High SocieTea House in Wayne, and we loved it. We met up with one of her friends, who had already been there once before, and we had a blast. While the three of us chatted and caught up, the teas we ordered were served in a very prestigious manner. The server was extremely kind and didn't mind that we took a few extra minutes to decide on our orders. What we chose were the New Orleans something or another tea, the Tebetan Tiger, and the Irish Creme. If you like strong tea, go with the tiger, but if you would like a more bland tea, try the Irish Creme. I'm not a big tea drinker, and I loved the varieties we got so much that I had 5 cups of tea. With our tea, we ordered the light tea and the high tea. This came with scones(caramel were fabulous!), finger sandwiches, and a dessert. Yum!!! And to top it all off, the price was none to bad either. My advice, go there for a late lunch or early dinner. Trust me, you may come early, but you will definitely stay for a long time. I hope to come back really soon!

Great little gem of a place with adorable ambience. They offer cute and unique reasonably priced gift items for purchase in the front. This would be a wonderful place for a shower. Hosts are friendly, waitstaff effecient and the tables are set up so lovely. Best part about it is the food and tea selections- excellent presentation and taste. Everything was really delicious. The scones with clotted cream were out of this world! If you get a dessert, the chocolate eclair cake is heavenly. Also loved the assorted savories, in particular the chicken salad and cucumber sandwiches. I had the Queen's Tea @ $25, and couldn't finish all the food given. It replaced my dinner that evening, so the price is really justified. There are several choices on the menu, all less expensive than the Queen's Tea.
On two separate visits (one in May and one in June '06), my experience was equally outstanding... going for a third visit in the near future. On my Saturday afternoon visit they had a harpist- wonderful touch!
I went with a group of 8 or 9 each visit- bringing 2 or 3 men each time and they loved it, didn't feel out of place at all.
I can confidently recommend this place- you will love it.

I am still gushing to anyone who will listen about my experience at High Societea...and what an experience it was! Elegant and cozy at the same time, and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. There were 8 in our party and we all ordered a different tea so we could all sample. There wasn't one tea in the lot that wasn't simply delicious. The caramel scone is worth the trip all by itself-warm and almost velvety in texture. The finger sandwiches a wonderful compliment to the teas. The tea filled us up so much we were full on three finger sandwiches! Great for the diet. Here is a place for women to come together to celebrate over something so simple as a pot of tea and some good conversation. I will be back again and again!

A beautiful tea room--cozy and nicely decorated. We had the light tea, which included a big pot of tea each (there were 4 of us), 1 caramel and 1 raisin scone each with clotted cream & lemon curd, carrot ginger soup and a slice of crustless quiche, and a small muffin. This was more than sufficient for a light lunch-- Only complaint would be that it was rather noisy but we were sitting next to a large party. Also a little background music would be nice.

The teahouse is a delightful charming place to bring friends and family.
The food is excellent. We were greeted with a smile and everyone was accommodating. It brought us back to when we were young and had our very own teapartys.
Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I have always wanted to attend or even have a tea party but did not know where to go. The shop is wonderful, staff friendly and courteous-with a willingness to serve and satisfy you. Greeted with a smile and they were able to accomodate a large party of 12. The desserts, sweets and finger sandwiches were excellent. I highly recommend this establishment & look forward to having a gathering of my friends here.

This tea house is exquisite. The variety of teas are great, the presentation was awsome the victorian style interior design is pleasant, very detailed and not to gaudy. I loved the atmosphere, the service, the caramel scone and the orange coconut scone. I enjoyed the finger sandwhiches and the variety of decadent dessert. The Broccoli and Cheese Quiche and the pear walnut salad was devine. Of course I had to saved the best for last, I experienced the Caramel Chai Tea and that was heavenly. I HIGHLY recommend this tea house to anyone visiting the North Jersey Area. The experience is worth it. I can't wait to go back.

My sisters searched for weeks for a special place to host a bachellorette afternoon for me. They visited tea houses within 70 miles and chose High SocieTea. They could not have picked a more special place. Every bit of our visit was perfect. The decor, the service, the food, the tea selection, the gift shop... I instantly fell in love. I plan to visit again and again.

I have visited the tearoom twice, with different guests. We were all very impressed & pleased that such a wonderful tearoom exists within my community. I have shared the experience that I've encountered at the Tea House with others. The ambiance, the quality of professional service, the quality of quiche, wonderful soup, scones, etc, as well as the delightful flavors of tea, and gift selection makes it a wonderful relaxing, very pleasant respite from our busy, hectic lives.
Thank you for bringing High Societea House to Wayne, NJ.

Recently I visited the newly opened “Tea House” with three of my friends and was amazed at how quaint it was. From the moment we opened the door, until the moment we left, we were renewed.
For the short time that we were there, we were on a mini vacation of sorts; no longer in New Jersey, but some little teahouse somewhere in Europe.
The atmosphere lent itself to days gone by; times when people had time to sit and really relax. Once we seated ourselves at the Victorian embellished table, I immediately felt the tension leave my body.
The service was excellent! Barbara, Bernadette and Colleen were most informative and friendly, knowledgeable in all aspects of an old English teahouse.
The food was artfully presented in a way I have never experienced. A different fresh flower accompanied each plate. The servings were perfectly proportioned for an afternoon tea. The flavors were to be savored not rushed.
The china and teapots, wrapped elegantly with tea cozies, were adorable.
Every tablecloth was different. The scones, the tiny apéritifs and the finger sandwiches were just different enough to be delightfully scrumptious.
The walls are lined with beautiful paintings, Victorian hats, and delicate dresses of times passed.
As if all of that weren’t enough, the elegant gifts and baskets that surrounded this haven were meticulously displayed and featured.
I cannot wait to go back there. Once you go there you will feel the same.
