Madhatters Tea
Late dinner, wanted something light for my picky senior mother & myself. On the menu was 1/2 sandwich with soup or salad, I got 'egg salad sanwich' on pumpernickle rye(?) with salad which had baby spinich & a great red wine dressing with cold tea. Mother, being the picky eater nowadays, said to some assisted living resident friends that the meal came out & looked so small on the tray & the dark brown bread she thought was going to be dreadful, but much to her surprise, she loved the whole meal. I thought the service was great. Although we were there later than normal for dinner, there were maybe 5 tables of peope - a family, an organization/committee, a couple or two - not too loud, not too quiet. They had a great selection of both cold & hot teas, plus other usual restaurant/cafe drink selections. OH!!!! while ordering at the main counter, to my great surprise in the 'sweets/desert' case I notice a slice of 'buttermilk pie'. This was my dad's vice when he & mom use to visit their getaway in West Texas. So, that brought back memories for me - after we finished our dinner, I asked mom if she wanted desert, 'no', so I went to the counter & ordered the 1 slice that was still there, he told me he could make it 'a la mode' if I wanted - I wanted!!! When he brought it to the table he had sliced the thing in 2 (as I requested) & placed 1 in front of Mom & 1 in front of me. Mmmmm!!!! I LOVED THIS PLACE, FOOD, SERVICE, ATMOSPHERE. You should try it at least once.
