The British Pantry
We love the food and products this store has, the baked goods are excellent. The service in the restraunt however are poor, we seem to always be waiting to be served water after asking several times, and the waitress isn't friendly either. For the most part the help in the store are nice, but they need to learn about the goods they carry. When I asked if they had any wine gums he looked at me with a blank stare and had never heard of them. We will definately return just because my husband loves the custard tarts and sausage rolls. The Tea Party
My husband and kids stopped in for tea after playing on the beach in the cold wind. The food variety was excellent, the lavendar scones were a perfect detail for a victorian tea shoppe.. it's the little details that make it special. However, my husband (who is british) didn't care for them, he said they tasted too flowery. My girls and I on the other hand thought they were perfect. We all enjoyed putting on foofy hats and scarves, even my 9 year old son. The only reason why I have a 'good' rating in the tea variety, instead of an excellent, was because they didn't have my favourite tea... Yorkshire Red. My daughter plans to take her friends there, and we plan to make it a scheduled stop everytime we go to Newport area.
