Witches Brew
the brew is amazing. i've been going since high school. it used to be the home of the goth/punk scene on LI. sometime around 2000-ish the 'normal' kids stopped harassing the freaks who frequented the place and came in. even though it's gained popularity and expanded clientele the owners and employees haven't really changed their dream. i don't begrudge them their success, but the long lines are annoying. if you hate crowds avoid weekend nights during the school year, most nights during school breaks, and arrive during the day or before 8/9 pm on those nights. it's still a place where you can sit for house w/o any pressure from servers what want a high turn over and more tips. the teas are fantastic. each order is made fresh from loose leaf tea in a cast iron japanese tea pot. the tea cups are kitschy and delightfully mix-matched. i believe that all baked snacks are made on premises, and include plenty of vegan options. my favorite is a peanut butter brownie. no official tea parings are offered. the servers are wonderful people and very professional and friendly. i've been a patron for over ten years and my business and company has been well rewarded.
