  • The Empress Tea Room & Event Dinning

Visited your new location Wednesday, August 17 with 10 seasoned citizen friends - some of whom had NEVER been to any kind of a tea room, etc. 4 of us had high tea and it was superb, as always. Couldn't eat my dessert (too full) but had no trouble giving it to the other 3. Everyone enjoyed her lunch choice. We all thought the tropical views outside were an added feature. I love the openess yet uncrowded area where we were situated. Your staff was way above my expectations....solicitous, caring, explaining everything to each person. Tongs for sugar cubes a plus....The only downside was the amount of time it took to pay the bill, probably because each person was responsible for her portion of the check. Next time I will ask for a different method. We shall return - SOON. Great to have you in this neighborhood as we no longer have that long drive to Temple Terrace. Thanks for an unhurried time with friends.

  • Victorian Grace

I'm a tearoom aficionada (can't live in England and not delight in proper tea rituals) and Victorian Grace was No. 1 for me. Your scones, made from scratch, no mixes used here, with the hint of cinnamon and bits of white chocolate, were the very best I've experienced thus far. Tea of the day had a blackberry (?) flavor and was worth drinking 3 pots. Big score here. Food exceptional,,,your pastry chef is an artist both in presentation, appearance and taste. Special note: Cloth hand towels for drying one's hands.....lovely, noteworthy touch. Loved using hand cream as well. The soup was a light cream of chicken w/rice. The little heart shaped crouton...you are way ahead of the game. Chicken salad in croissant very pleasing as was everything on the sandwich tier. Thought the little birds (finches?) in their very Victorian home were sweet and an unusual welcome at the door. Thanks for helping us find a place to park...Busy day at the tearoom. The decor is totally in keeping with the name...Neat touches everywhere...teapots on the border paper, a cleverly designed cup/saucer chandelier over the area where one pays the bill. I did buy a couple of things in the gift shop. Big, Big Plus -- on such a busy street, no traffic sounds once you walk through the door. The service was way over the top with questions answered and information offered with every addition to our tea table. Thank you ladies for planting such a gem in the Brandon area. (I'm the person celebrating a very belated birthday - and you gave me a candle to make a wish....)Worth the trip, wherever you live. - Tiss Stevens
