The Four Seasons Tea Room
Our Red Hat group visited this tea house which is very attractively decorated, but the service was very lacking. We were not aware that they only served one type of tea (it tasted plain like Lipton), the server did not explain sandwiches (whihc were skippy on filling) but were presented lovely on the tray with edible flowers & garish. The plain scones were excellent, however for this price we expected real devonshire cream, not whipped cream. The desserts were yummy, but out of 3, 2 were lemon. We all enjoyed the atmosphere, but for the price $20, we expected more. Also we did not appreciate them adding $5 for tip/tax, service was not worth it!

Past Tyme Tea Parlour
I had the fortune of stopping by this morning as the owner of 9 years served her last tea service. She was officially handing the business over 8/17. I hope the new owner keeps the same friendly atmosphere. The scones are from a mix, but served hot out of the oven, with real Devonshire cream. The fruit plate presentation is very lovely, as was the sandwiches. We'll have to come back in a month or two and see how the new owner is doing. A must if you're coming to uptown Whittier.

Lady Effie's Tea Parlor
Several of my Red Hatfriends had the pleasure of meeting owner Vonnie who has carried on the legacy of her belowed Auntie. We each got to pick our own tea - all the tea pots & cups were a beautiful matching vintage rose pattern. Her Auntie's recipe for Tea cakes were delightful (more like a shortbread vs. traditional scones). The sandwiches were very substandial & tasty. She does serve store-bought mini desserts which was the only disappointment. We loved the experience, Vonnie's warmth and invitation to tour all the rooms. Well worth the drive! God bless you Vonnie for keeping her memories alive.
