Lady Mendl's
This tea room is pure elegance. I went with my mother this past Monday and we had a great time! The salon where we sat was absolutely gorgeous. We were each on a lush loveseat with a low table in the middle, adorable! My tea was delicious, my mom's was a little weak although they described it as 'winey'. We loved the scones & the tea sandwiches were very fresh. I was impressed.

Cup & Saucer Tea Room at The Pandorica
I have been to about 10 tea rooms in the states and many in both France & England. After seeing all of the five star reviews on here, I was excited to try the Cup & Saucer Tea Room today with two friends. Unfortunately, It did not live up to all of this hype. ... The waitress asked for our order when I had barely even taken my coat off yet. When I asked if they used loose leaf teas, I was told 'no, not for the Afternoon tea party.' The grocery store quality tea bags are just left in the pot with no timer, no nothing, not even a place to rest the bags after brewing. The desserts included blueberry muffins (so odd?) and what appeared very much like store bought brownie bites one would find at costco. Also, they were out of BOTH quiche AND crepes? How bizarre. Not to mention that every table that came in while we were there did not get a hello but rather a waitress just pointing to a table for them to sit at. Again, uncomfortable. Now, the atmosphere had to be the most disappointing of all. Plaid table cloths with glass tops, a dusty piano in the back with board games scattered & really just sloppy in general. Lastly, how can you call it a 'boutique' when it is merely two counters pushed together selling mugs that say 'CRAZY CAT LADY' on them. Beacon is charming but I will never be back to this tea room.
Tearoom response:
I thank you ladies for taking the time to come all the way from NJ to visit the tea room and am sorry it was disappointing to you. It was an unexpectedly very busy day for a Monday (Presidents Day), and Joan my server was trying hard to please everyone, including taking the time to take your pictures and talk to you about the area. I myself was at your table and could have addressed any issues you had. I was oblivious to any discomfort and apologize.
As far as being out of crepes and quiche, as I mentioned it was a very busy lunch and we ran out. I make my food fresh and in quantities I feel will serve the day.
My glass showcases are filled with more than the 3 crazy cat lady mugs you focused on including china tea cups and saucers ,teapots, gift sets, miniature teacups, whimsical teapots, salt and pepper collectibles and a variety of teas and English items.

I must follow up by saying that reviews good or bad can make or break a business, and in this economy it is even harder to please every one.
I understand that customers can be disappointed in many different ways, and I try hard to satisfy my guests given the opportunity.

Alice's Tea Cup, Chapter II
I was just strolling down Lexington Avenue last Friday and Alice's Tea Cup stuck out so I went inside to see if they had room for 1. I am so happy they did! I have gotten tea at many different places and I really enjoyed their interpretation. The Alice's Tea blend that I ordered was delicious and 'The Nibble' did not disappoint either! I had the curried Chicken salad and a buttermilk scone- both great! The place is cozy, but the only downside was that since they also serve upstairs, people were bounding up and down and it was a little distracting. But that's minor- Overall, a delight!
