  We were accomodated on a day when they were not officially open for tea. It was kind of them, but the service was not entirely professional. We were asked to select a tea while still standing up, encouraged to select a specific tea, and then asked if pre-made tea would be fine. The server did apologize for this and said she only wished to serve us as quickly as possible. She was the one who brought it up, but when I said that, yes, I had wanted to sit down and study the menu, her father overheard me and scolded me, saying 'we don't want any trouble.' The food is really delicious and definitely the highlight of this tea. Gift items are for sale in the tearoom, so customers may wander around looking at things while you eat (probably more noticable than usual right before Christmas). FYI, many of the gift items are Christian-themed, and there are even right-wing political books for sale.

  Dear Margaret,

  It is the policy of Southern Belle's tea room to make all our tea fresh to order. No tea is brewed until the guest makes their selection.

  The 'Ice Tea of the day' can be substituted or added to any tea experience. We offer specialty teas that have been local favorites and also recommend holiday teas, such as Holiday Apple Cinnamon. Absolutely delicious.

  Thank You for pointing out our gift shop. Often our guest wish to browse our wide variety of gifts while waiting on tea to be served. We take our guest tea order and let everyone browse or take group photos while the tea is brewing. We are especially pleased with our large selection of Christian themed items and books, many signed by the Authors. We feel our business is to provide a peaceful and memorable respite from this rushed world in which we live, and offering character building books for adults and children alike has been appreciated by our clientele.

  We love the DC area and have visited many times. Thank you for taking the time to spend a Holiday moment with us.
