Tastefully British
Was visiting my parents for their 60th wedding anniversary and my mother, 2 sisters and I took tea at Tastefully British. The owners were lovely ladies, and the food was wonderful. My one sister and I had one of the tea trays, with savories, sweets and a scone. The savories were finger sandwiches with 1. A salmon spread 2. A chutney with cheddar cheese 3. A meat sandwich 4. A cucumber sandwich. There were at least 2 of each sandwich, maybe 3. The scones were wonderful. Warm and very moist/tasty, served with wonderful devon cream and jam. I could only taste one of the sweets and brought the rest home for others to eat. The food was plentiful. My other sister had the cornish pasty, which was to die for. I kept stealing tastes of hers. The selection of tea is somewhat limited, but a nice array of choices between black, green, herbals, tisanes with a white and yellow choice. The teas ordered were very nice. My only complaint is the leaves were left in the pot, only to be strained as you poured a cup, and the last cup was undrinkable due to the leaves steeping in the pot for an hour. Would suggest steeping and then removing the leaves prior to drinking. Lovely gift shop in the front of the shop, with the tea room in the back. Some British ex-pats were having tea at the same time we were, so obviously the local Brits like the shop also. Would definelty return.
