Insomnia Coffee Company
Insomnia is not open during the late hours of the night, like the name may suggest, but has been one of my favorite places to meet and catch up with old friends. The atmosphere here is my favorite. Plenty of comfy couches and chairs to relax in, assorted board games and puzzles for all, and plenty of books to pick up for a nice read. The walls are always decorated with art work from local artists and live local music is preformed on Friday or Saturday evenings (cant quite remember). I always get the chai here and its one of the best chai's I've had. The staff is always friendly and cheery, overall the place is very friendly. They live true to their quote, 'Coffee snob quality without the attitude'.

Smith Teamaker
This tea house may be small, but the tea served here is definitely worth it. I came here with a friend and got the Tea Sampler, in which we could pick out 6 different teas to sample and taste. All of the teas offered are loose leaf and have the most interesting home-made assortments and flavors. My favorite was Meadow, a colorful assortment of leaves and flowers that literally look like dried up wildflowers. There is no food served here, strictly tea, except for the tiny ginger crackers that came with the tea sampler. If you're looking for a new flavor and great experience then this is the place to go.

Stratford House
This was the best tea houses I have ever been to, and I am sad to say that it has closed down. Their tea menu was endless and all the treats and food prepared there were savory and delicious. My personal favorite was their very popular Hungarian Mushroom soup which was served in a bread bowl and covered in cheese. The Stratford House had a welcoming atmosphere and was always a delightful experience for me, especially on a typical cold and rainy Oregon day.
