The British Pantry
The British Pantry is one of may favorite places to spend time with tea-minded friends. They provide a bevy of both loose and bag teas (step into the shop if you want to choose 'Off Menu' from the tea canisters), and a good variety of solid British fare whether you want a snack or a filling lunch. I have a hard time avoiding the stilton burger or the eccles cakes. They bake all their goods in the bakery next door, where you can also take home tea, china, and imported British foods. The atmosphere is very British traditional: no chiffon lace or teddy bears, more library shelves and Royal Family memorabilia. Tea arrives at your table in a knitted cozy, with milk and an extra port of hot water on request. They also provide a British Pub experience next door if you want to bring someone who is a little put off at 'going to frou-frou tea.' The menus are extremely similar. During the lunch rush, parking in front is difficult, but there is more in the back. Going to the British Pantry has been a warm, happy place for me, my friends, and family for several years.
