Marlene's Tea & Cakes
Marlene's Tea and Cakes launched in January 2014 and has been pleasing guests ever since! From delicious tea sandwiches, lovely decor that is masculine friendly, to the soups, presentation, and tea selection, this is the top San Diego destination for English afternoon tea. Whether to catch up with old friends or meet with new friends who are also tea lovers, it is a wonderful place to feel cared for and treated to a break. The tea selection has loose leaf mostly and yesterday's favorite was Roasted Almond. We also had Paris (Earl Grey with vanilla notes) and Lady Londonderry-also excellent. They also have other black teas, green tea, and Rooibos. I consider this tea location to be top 10 in California. Check it out. You will be pleasantly surprised.

ROYALS ENGLISH TEA ROOM
The four of us had met through a women's afternoon tea group in San Diego, so I arranged for us to have high tea at Royals. We were delighted with the British decor, and wore hats we selected from the red wooden telephone booth. We chose their house tea, honey lavender, earl grey, and apple chai. I loved their presentation with the crocheted tea pot covers, the creamer and sugar containers were generously stocked, and the tiered trays allowed the food to be the star. The freshly made sandwiches were delicious. The scones were our favorite! The fresh Devonshire cream and lovely jam was also generous. The desserts are beautiful and sweet. Thank you so much. Your taking apart and reassembly of the phone booth was marvelous!
