Went for my birthday 2 yrs ago and it was absolutely awesome! LOVE it. Staff was fabulous and the Afternoon Tea was 1) well presented; 2) deliciously divine. My #1 tearoom in the Columbia, SC Area.

Laura's Tea Room made my first high tea experience top notch. I absolutely love tea and appreciated the variety and quality that Laura's offered. The sandwich bites and sweets were also very tasty and pretty. I would recommend this tea room to anyone, especially those wary of trying teas. Enjoy!

I have brought several friends and family members to Laura's and we have had a wonderful experience each visit. Carol is such a sweet and sincere person and the staff is knowledgeable and very professional as well as being very personable.

This is the prettiest tearoom I have ever been to, and I have been to many across the US and England. Carol the owner is wonderful and really makes you feel welcome. The food is awesome and the service is fabulous. They also have a great gift shop, and there are other fun shops in the small but charming downtown.

I had the privelge of enjoying Laura's Tea Room today with my wonderful lady friends! I have never enjoyed something so much! The atomosphere, the service, the food, the OVERALL experience is well worth it. I would highly recommend Laura's Tea Room to everyone!! Come it, try on all of their hats, then choose a tea cup and sit back and enjoy! With each course, there will be a smile and a memory!!!

I had fun there. My favorite part was picking out my own teacup! All the courses in the high tea were great. My only complaint was the devonshire cream. It was nothing like the original. It was too airy and flavored. There was a southern twang in the experience that was not my taste, but it is located in a small southern town so it makes sense. I would go again but I wish there was an option of having a basket of scones and jams along with tea. All together it made for a good time.

My grandmother and aunt raved about Laura's High Tea. We arrived on Sunday to beautiful hats to wear, fresh flowers and an assortment of fine china, chargers and to complete the experience you choose your own teacup. The food was quite tasty and the service impeccable. The iced tea was a little bit sweet for my personal taste but this is the south.
The selection of hot teas was vast but not overwhelming. Staff seemed knowledgeable about the teas when a few questions were asked. The tea was brewed well and tasted delicate, and had great aroma.
I will certainly return again next time I visit from Philadelphia.

Laura's Tearoom is lovely! A comfy atmosphere of casual elegance! Although the building dates back to the early 1900's, the feel is refreshing and charming.
The staff is friendly and helpful and efficient.
The food is yummy and plenty!
It's the perfect place to step away from the fast pace of life and spend a relaxing couple of hours with a dear friend or celebrate a birthday as I did in May with my sweet sister!

Came here from Columbia with a friend for a high tea. Couldn't have had a better experience. The setting has a lot of charm, and we were both pleased to sit in a room that had a lot of windows and light - yet our table still felt private. The tea was excellent - we were offered a delicious fruity iced tea, a pot of starter tea, and then we chose two additional pots from the extensive list to try. Pretty sure they serve Republic of Tea teas, and they were all prepared perfectly - not too hot and not at all over brewed. The food was wonderful, and we were glad we came for lunch, as there was a lot offered between the various courses. Ours included a scone and soup course (it being spring, we were offered strawberry soup), a quiche and salad course, a course that featured a three tier server with finger sandwiches, quick breads, and some sweets, and then a dessert course. Courses were very well timed, giving us plenty of opportunity to relax and chat between each new plate, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Laura's Tea room is my favorite tea room in South Carolina! I drive over 2 hours to get there for special occasions, like birthdays and mother's day! The downstairs is an alluring gift shop, with tea acessories, books, tea, girly gifts and more! The tea room is fun with your choice of hats to wear and tea cups to drink from! Laura's 'tea' includes several courses with the 3 tier server, which makes you feel like you're having a proper tea! Laura's presentations do not include crackers or 'chain' cheesecakes, like so many others. The tablesettings are charming and inviting. You feel very special, as they have your table set up,just for you! You have a choice of delicious hot teas and you're always served a heavenly glass of their flavored iced teas...it's just lovely! It is truly an afternoon of relaxation. A wonderful experience! I highly recommend visiting this adorable tearoom. You won't be disappointed. They know what they're doing.

Disappointed we did not get soup and quiche courses even though it was the 21.95 price and in the description. Everything else was perfect and a wonderful time with my daughter. Tea is excellent, atmosphere incredible. Food was definitely lacking.

This is my first experience with a tea room and it was wonderful. I took my mom who loves tea. We had a wonderful time. Carol and all the staff was delightful, the food was delicious and the experience is like no other. I liked being able to pick a hat to wear and pick your own cup to drink from. The place settings were elegant and made me feel like I was being treated like a queen for the day. I highly recommend Laura's tea room for a girls' day out.

All the reviews I just read can't say enough about my experience at Laura's. My sister, Lynda, took me their for my birthday. What an experience.

My friend, Karen, and I have visited many tea rooms. This one was most impressive. Just walking up the stairs to the tea room and seeing it for the first time simply took our breath away. It is SO lovely!
We chose our tea cups from a tremendous and stunning selection, and then were seated a marvelous High Tea experience.
Those of you who appreciate the 'art' of tea will understand why I used the term 'experience.' My friend said it best, 'This makes me happy!'
The staff, the food, the experience - all went way above our expectations. I recommend Laura's to everyone. As a matter of fact, my tea-lovin' cousin and I are going back right after Christmas. I can't wait!

I have been to many tearooms, and Laura's is the best. It is both elegant and friendly. The presentation of tea and food is pleasing. At least six times,I have taken friends, and each time was special because of the variety of teas and delicious food. One unique part of the experience is choosing your cup and saucer. Going to Laura's with friends is one of my favorite things to do. If you want to have a great afternoon, go to Laura's. You will not be disappointed.

I visited Laura's the first time in the Spring with 2 friends. We had decided we were going to visit different Tea Rooms in our state of SC every other month or so. Laura's was second on our list. We have now visited appr. 5 ( 2 in our own town of Summerville & 1 in NC, 1 other in SC). They each had something unique to offer, but Laura's has been best all round for the 'Tea Experience'. In fact, I returned just a couple of weeks ago with my grandaughter & we had such an awesome experience. The food & service was by far the best. We loved chosing a hat & our own cup and saucer. Your variety of hot and cold tea is unbelievable. It was nice that we were allowed to try differnt ones at no extra charge ( we had been charged extra at one place) . It is obvious why you are number one on the Tea Map for SC. Going to Savannah next month, I have a feeling you will still be #1 our book. All Tea Rooms should follow your lead!

Lovely setting - second floor of a nicely-restored dry goods store - airy with lots of natural light and not too cutesy. You choose your own china teacup which is a nice touch. The only fault - the iceburg lettuce salad was not worth the eating. Better to leave it off the menu, maybe a little bowl of cold soup (cumcumber?) instead.

Loved it! Everything was wonderful from the time we stepped in the door until the time we left. I highly recommend Laura's Tea Room in Ridgeway SC. Looking forward to my return visit.

Wow! If you want to impress some one, just relax with dear friends,or be with your family; this is the place for you. It could not be any easier than this experience. In fact, we were sitting there trying to coordinate every one's schedule for our next visit to again celebrate life and family. Our group was an old-fashioned 'hen party' with 10 ladies ranging in age from 12 to 83. One of the participants had some very special needs, to which Laura and her staff were very
attentive without being obvious to any one not in our group thus making our entire group relaxed and comfortable. We had the very best time celebrating our family time together--eating great food and drinking the very best tea ever. Hats off to a fabulous time!!!!!

I visited Laura's Tea Room three times during a recent, months-long stay in South Carolina. Each visit was relaxing, even soothing. The first two visits were with a friend, and we both had a fabulous time, enjoying the tasty scones, quiche, tea sandwiches, etc.
One of the best parts of the experience is the staff - attentive without hovering, friendly and sweet. They had no problems with us sitting there, chatting and taking our sweet time while we sipped tea. There was no rush to kick us out at all, which I find quite refreshing.
The tea menu had plenty of selections to choose from. As a result, we have tried several types of tea that we never would have known about otherwise! My husband joined us for the last visit, and he also enjoyed the experience. He loved tasting new teas, and enjoyed the ginger-peach iced tea so much that he had to buy some.
I could go on and on about how much we all loved tea at Laura's. Unfortunately, I am now back home in Illinois and won't get back to the tearoom for at least another year. However, those unhurried hours and delicious teas and treats will always be a memory I can pull up when I need some calm time.

We attended High Tea at Laura's Tea Room today and it was excellent!!!!! What a wonderful experience it was for all of us!!! We really enjoyed it! The food and service were wonderful, the tea was so good we really liked both of the vanilla teas. We had raspberry scones first, then quiche or cornbread salad. A beautiful three tiered tray of sandwiches and fruit THEN we had chocolate covered strawberries, cookies and rainbow sorbet!!!!! We really can't explain the wonderful flavors of the delicious food and tea!!! WE HAD A GREAT TIME!!!! Thanks to Carol, Eleanor and Staff.

Surpassing all expectations in a tea room, I will always come back here when traveling through SC. The antique two story charming store had a most excellent tea assortment as well as tea items!

I really could not say a single negative thing about this. I am very picky about my fine dining and customer service and this place excelled in all of them. It is an absolute must see. I plan on returning several times over.
I especially loved the variety of teas served and the service!

Absolutely delightful!
Although there are some tables downstairs at the rear of the giftshop, the main tearoom is located on the second floor and has a wonderfully light and airy ambience, courtesy of the large arched windows, high ceilings and simple but elegant decor.
Two small touches that added fun to our visit: the large collection of ladies hats which guests can choose to borrow for the duration of their visit (my wife choose a 'spiffy' pink hat) and the ability to chose your tea cup and saucer (I decided on Royal Albert)
My wife ordered high tea, which consisted of the most delicious scones served with Devonshire cream, followed by homemade quiche, a selection of finger sandwiches, fruit and finally a desert of sherbet served with finger cookies and chocolate dipped fruit. All of the courses were very enjoyable and we smiled our way though the entire experience! Portions in each course were modest but taken together, we found them very filling.
When it came to the tea, we were spoiled with the owners' generosity. We began with a wonderfully fragrant Hibiscus tea, followed by 'Lady Londonderry', a mild but pleasingly more complex version of 'Lady Gray' and then by a pot of nicely robust 'Earl Gray'. Finally, we finished with a refreshing mint tea to clean the palate. Oh! Did I mention the peach and ginger iced tea we were served during the meal? Very nice indeed!
Our server was just precious, attentive, very friendly and met our every wish and desire.
My wife and I really enjoyed our time at Laura's Tea Room, everything was truly excellent and we left filled with smiles, more relaxed and deeply appreciative of the experience.

I have been to Laura's twice, both times with relatives from New England. Both of my guests loved it! The atmosphere, servers, and table settings, and food are all delightful. It shows that a lot of thought has been put into this tea room. I can't wait to go back again, perhaps with another relative!

This was an amazing experience!By far, this is the best tea house I have been to. The people here were so friendly and the food was delicious! My grandmother and I came here and it is now a tradition to come back whenever she is in town. I loved the variety of tea(I would suggest the blackberry sage!)The great thing about this tea house is that it has a calm and cozy atmosphere. I would highly recommend Laura's!

Ladies, what a fantastic way to treat yourself! The Timberlake Birthday Club traveled from Chapin, SC to Ridgeway for 'High Tea' in Laura's Tea Room and we were amazed! The lovely hats make it fun, the teas are wonderful and the best scones anywhere. You must allow yourself extra time for browsing and shopping as there is so much to see. Ridgeway has a hidden treasure in Laura's Tea Room and we plan to visit again.

My mother, sisters & I had an amazing time at the tea room. We were there on Fe. 27 for a double birthday celebration and couldn't have had a better time. The owner & staff were all so sweet and just made us feel so relaxed. So much so, we have already made a reservation for June for another party. Thank you to Carol and the whole staff!!

Laura's tea room is a spa for the soul, spirit and mind. Step back into an atmosphere of yesteryear that will bring charm and delight to your senses. From the moment you view the lovely old mercantile building from the outside until you leave, you will be delighted and soothed with lovliness.
Allow time to leisurely shop in the store as you enter or before you leave. There is something unique there waiting for you to take home or a special gift to bless someone else with.
The charm of the store is that it has been rennovated true to it's original design and purpose. As you meander the shelves, cases and aisles, you can't help but think of an earlier time when locals depended on this mercantile for the goods they needed to maintain daily life and business.
Beneath the glass of the big square table, you can read orders folks in the area had placed on scraps of paper recently salvaged from an old desk drawer. Their quaint wording and way of handwriting help you understand the people who once relied on The Thomas Company Store.
Besides the charming appeal of the building, historical interest and items for sale, is the atmosphere of Lauara'. A graciouness and caring abound. You are truly welcome at Laura's Tea Room.
Once the time comes to go upstairs fo your tea, be prepared to have fun like a little girl in grown up skin! On the 1st level you will find charming display of hats etc. to choose from. DO choose a hat to wear! It truly sets the tone for your tea room experience.(A hostess will gladly take your picture for you and your party.)
At the top of the next set of steps is a beautiful display of teas cups and saucers from an extensive collcetion. Here you can choose one to match your outfit or one that strikes your fancy. This is all part of the fun!
The large room with a ceiling that goes on forever is separated by an array of white columns. Within each section are tables of all shapes and sizes done in a very frou frou eclectic style making your setting special from the rest!
Your hostess will explain the tea rictual and advise you on each course that will be served. The 1st course consists of quiche or soup. Either choice is a winner. The tray of tea sandwiches are tea party dainty, delicious and delectable. More tea is served and then dessert. A sweet delight topped off with another tea - this one special just for dessert!
By the time you leave Laura's you will have been entertained;served by charming servers; whisked away from strees and transported to a time of slower and simpler days. And to top it all off, you will be refreshed to face the next week because the experience at Laura's, like a trip to a spa with lasting effect. It is an 'Awwww-some experience!'

We had a fabulous time in Laura's Tea Room. The teas were subtle and varied, the food was wonderful and the atmosphere relaxing and inviting. We especially loved the extensive hat selection and trying on all different sorts before settling in for our 3 hr tea. I've been to High Tea in at the Empress in Victoria BC and I highly recommend Laura's Tea Room as an equally high quality experience.

For an after Christmas girl's retreat, seven of us enjoyed the high tea. We all had so much fun wearing our big hats and sipping tea in our beautiful china cups. The food and tea were very good. We definately will be back for another venture.

I am from Pennsylvania and this was my first visit to Laura's Tea Room with a good friend who lives near the tea room. The food and tea were excellent from the scones to dessert. The owner was so personal that you felt at home instantly. Her mother prepares the food from her own recipes and 'wow' - so good! I would love to have those recipes. The first floor has a really nice gift shop too. Next visit to my friends the tea room is at the top of the list.

I have visited Laura's Tea Room on several occasions and have always had a wonderful experience. I recently took a friend for her first visit to the tea room and she loved it! The owners take great care to establish a warm and welcoming atmosphere, their choice of tea is always delightful, and the food is delicious. Laura's Tea Room is a real treat! Please don't pass up an opportunity to visit.
The Thomas Company, located with Laura's Tea Room, continues to have a lovely selection of unique items and gifts. Plan your visit to include time for the Thomas Company also!

I've enjoyed high teas in London and Oxford, but Laura's Tea Room out shone them all! Tastefully decorated, and beautifully served, Laura's will definitely be a place I'll take visitors and family alike in the months ahead.

My friends and I had a truly wonderful experience at this tea room. This was the first tea room that actually warmed our tea cups with hot water before our tea was served. I wished we could have seen a list of teas that we could have selected from; instead, we were offered tea of the day. I really appreciated that we were allowed to play bridge after having our savories...we saved desserts for later.

Laura's Tea Room is reminiscent of High Tea in Europe. The service is impeccable and the foood is truly a delight. What an exceptional afternoon and a wonderful treat for my Mother from Chicago and our very dear neighbor in Cayce.
We wish Carol and her family all the best in this new endevor and wish them the best of health and happiness in the future.

Laura's Tea Room is one of the best! I took tea there with a friend in from out of town, and we had a lovely afternoon of tea, treats, laughter, and shopping.
Since I was not able to get a last minute reservation in the past, and almost didn't get in on this Wednesday, I went expecting a fabulous tearoom. And what I found far exceeded my expectations.
We were greeted by Carol, the owner, as soon as we walked in to the beautifully restored Thomas Company Store that fills the bottom part of this historic building. We enjoyed a few minutes of browsing the lovely array of gift items before we were personally escorted up the stairs to the Tea Room.
Our hostess stopped at the landing for us to pick out a hat to wear for tea, and that was an unexpected moment of fun! After a few minutes of very necessary modeling and primping, we donned our hats and continued to the top of the stairs where, to our delight,a table full of gorgeous teacups awaited our choosing. We then carried our beautiful selections to our awaiting table where we were handed over to our wonderful, attentive server.
She had a charming Russian accent and took care to explain the cup warming ceremony as well as to describe the tea that was on the menu for that day. My friend and I both delighted in the delicious Lady Londonderry Tea. It was a fragrant and flowery loose leaf tea, and I enjoyed a change from my typical 'safe' choice of Earl Grey. We each took a bag of Lady Londonderry home with us along with another blend, Blue Lady, recommended by our knowledgeable server.
Our first food course was a delicious orange pecan scone served with their version of a devonshire cream. Next, we were served a warm piece of broccoli cheese quiche followed by our much anticipated tiered tray of tea delights. We thoroughly enjoyed our assortment of tea sandwiches, cakes, fruit, and cheese.
Our lovely server (and I'm embarrassed that I forgot her name) kept our cups promptly filled with fragrant, hot tea; and she patiently answered all of our questions as she described each course to us. I almost forgot to mention their special iced tea blend that was set at our table, an unexpected and refreshing addition to our afternoon.
Our tea ended with a demitasse cup of an interesting blend of peppermint tea to aid digestion... another unexpected delight!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Laura's Tea Room. We had a leisurely visit with the owner, Carol, at our table at the end of our tea. She was very gracious and candidly shared about her tea room. We enjoyed looking at the other beautifully set tables, uncluttered and set far enough apart to allow for intimate conversations, before we headed back downstairs to finish our browsing of tea and non-tea related gifts. We finally bid farewell to the lovely staff and owner, and I am now impatiently awaiting my next chance to visit this lovely tearoom.

Gift yourself and a friend with a visit to this delightful tea room! I felt as though I had stepped back in time, when the tea room was the place all 'genteel ladies of sensibility' met for the afternoon. Friendly, professional service; ample, if somewhat ordinary sweets and savories. I nonetheless recommend this tea room and its precious shop. I will certainly return!

My friends and I (a church Sunday school class) made made special arrangements to go to Laura's for 2 birthdays. We were so excited about our outing as the newspaper review had caught our interest. We were in high spirits, expecting a terrific experience. There were 10 of us. When we first arrived, we walked through the gift shop, each of us exlaiming over the unique selections. We could hardly wait to start purchasing. We went up the stairs to the tea room. The hostess told us we could put out gifts on a table set up for us. We picked our hats & tea cups. /we were seated at 2 round tables next to each other. We were very disappointed when there was no selection of teas - the hot tea of the day was vanilla almond and the drink on the table was lemonade, tea, and ginger ale. The hot tea was served to us, no tea pot was left on the table (!). The scones were okay, the quiche was cold, and the tea sandwiches were okay if you really like cucumbers. After eating, we went over to the area set aside to open presents. We were taking pictures and laughing. After about 30 minutes, the hostess came over and told us we were making too much noise and basically asked us to leave. We did...without making any additional purchases. We will not return, and have told our experiences to any one who asks.

I took my wife for a special mothers Day treat. What a wonderful experience. The service was excellant, the food was great and the tea was good. My wife loved the decore and the bright airness of the upstairs room. She loved the food and the tea, she went crazy over the gifts downstairs.
I would highly recommend and will be back again.

What a wonderful and fun experience we had in Laura's Tea Room as we celebrated my mothers birthday. The decor is absolutly beautiful and the quiche, tea sandwiches, scones and assorted desserts are all delectable! In this day and time it's hard to find good customer service, but the servers in Laura's Tea Room are exceptional!
We also enjoyed browsing around and looking at all the beautiful gifts in The Thomas Company Store.
Carol, we miss you here in Blythewood, but you have something very special going on in Ridgeway. Thank God it's just right up the street.

Laura's Tea Room is a very special place. I have been here both on my own and with friends, and felt comfortable and welcome each way. The owner and staff are so nice and friendly, and really love providing a quality experience for everyone. They serve you both iced and hot tea, and the food was fabulous. It's also one of the prettiest tea rooms I have ever been to, and I've been to a lot. Laura's is now my very favorite tea room of all, and I plan to go often.

If there was a rating above excellent, Laura's Tea Room would be beside the dot! The beautifully restored I.C. Thomas Company building is a beautiful backdrop for this newly founded tea room and gift shop. The blackberry sage hot tea and the fresh peach iced tea were excellent compliments to the scones/devinshire cream, cheese points and chocolate diped strawberries. An absolute must visit!

A real class act. Hardwood floors; a lovely staircase opening to a modest mezzanine and then leading to the spacious galleria that is the upper floor dining area; a large table filled with beautiful teacups of all designs for your individual selection; huge windows filling the room with sunlight; wall art; vintage furniture pieces; ambience music; an introduction to your Server by your Hostess; and service to the degree that you feel this visit is all about you -- echoed by the Hostess' reminder that your only task while there is to 'relax.' Delicious menu choices, fragrant tea selections, combined with fanciful and unique items available in the gift shop downstairs complete this indulging experience.

The most beautiful place I have ever met in South Carolina for the past two years. This is the the real Eurpean/English style of restaurant/cafe. Very good gift shop. Excellent service and prices!

We had an excellent time visiting Ridgeway, SC - and Laura's Tea Room was by far the highlight. Between the six of us, there was not a single complaint. Even our 7-year-old companion ate every bite on her plate...except the tomato, which I ate ;-) The service was exceptional, the atmosphere was perfection. Thank you!

If you want to escape the fast-paced world and really enjoy a lunch at your own pace, you must go to Laura's Tea Room. The food is excellent; the service is super; the decor of the room takes you back to a time that no longer exists for most of us today. It is a wonderful experience. Sampling all of the teas of the day is fun. My favorite was their special ice tea with peach slices. After lunch, stop downstairs and check out the variety of gifts in the beautifully restored old store. You will be happy you took the ride to Ridgeway, SC.

I love this place! I try to escape my world once a week to this wonderful place to feel pampered. The food is excellent, the warmth of the place is awesome. You will not want to leave. I really can not describe the way you feel when you join with other friends around this place. Every chance I get, I take someone there because words can not describe the atmosphere. Carol is the owner and is unique in her service and her food offerings. The service is like none other. I love to shop there, great gifts at VERY reasonable prices. I am doing a birthday High Tea for my sister. I just love this place! Thanks Carol for your wonderful way of making people feel so individually special!
