Came to the Painted Tea cup for the first time for a celebratory event. The food was delicious, the tea was even better and the atmosphere was amazing. Our little group had such a lovely time. The staff was professional and knowledgeable and had excellent tea recommendations. Will 100% be visiting again.

Took my mother here today for her birthday. It was both our first time here and it won't be our last! Everything was wonderful. The staff was warm and friendly and the food was amazing! We personally told Mary that everything she prepared us was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the Painted Tea Cup!

This tearoom is a hidden jewel in Delaware County. It is not just a meal but an event. The attention to detail is extraordinary. The atmosphere and the unhurried pace make you feel like you are in someone's home for the afternoon. The food is amazing! It is more than delicious and the presentation is unmatched. I have been to other tearooms but this exceeds them all. You will not be disappointed but will come back time and again.

I have been to several tearooms, but The Painted Tea Cup, located in a Victorian House, is by far my favorite. It's a great place to enjoy with friends or family. My daughter and I were there just three days ago, for some Mom and Daughter time. All the food was wonderfully delicious and artistically presented. My daughter is vegetarian and thoroughly enjoyed her meal.
No matter which type of tea you prefer: black, green, white, red, herbal or chai
you have over 100 teas to choose from around the world. Most are loose teas and available for purchase, while others are in tea bags. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and very delightful. The gift shop carries all types of tea cups, infusers, recipes, home-made jellies and preserves, scented candles, jewelry, scarves, decorative wreaths, and so much more, I am already looking forward to going back to The Painted Tea Cup.

I discovered this jewel quite by accident and have been returning ever since. My goddaughter who is now 8, has been my companion since she was 5 and this is her fave tea house. She now knows and enjoys a variety of teas because she has been exposed to all of them from each visit. (fruit teas and red are her favorites right now!) The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. I cannot more highly recommend any tea house than this! In fact I will be going again hopefully in a few weeks to celebrate my birthday :-) Try it, you will LOVE it!

My friend, Cheryl, and I always celebrate our mutual birthday at The Painted Tea Cup. It makes our special day even more special. This is a place like no other in terms of atmosphere, hospitality and wonderful food. Their blueberry tea is really special. Not only is it delicious but it perfumes my entire kitchen!!!

This tea room was amazing! I have visited over 30 tea rooms amongst the PA, DE, MA, and NY area and I loved this one. Her food was amazing and thoughtfully prepared. She has a great sense of taste, and her combinations are things I would never put together BUT now I'm trying to replicate! There is a wide variety of teas, ranging from green teas to oolong and traditional black. The presentation was gorgeous, and the atmosphere was very nice. There is a lovely gift shop, and I bought a beautiful antique tea cup to add to my collection. I would recommend this tea room very highly, and would not hesitate to go back!

This is a little gem hidden in the outskirts of the city. Delicious savories & treats freshly prepared each morning -- great variety and very filling. Kind, friendly, attentive service. Did a great job of serving our party of 18 people. Extensive gift shop, beautifully decorated. Loved the Royal Wedding loose tea. Highly recommend!!!

Fabulous! Absolutely lovely service from start to finish, beautiful quaint rooms, an abundance of tasty and well prepared plates and a true gem in Delaware County not to be missed. My mother treated three generations of her girls at Christmas and it was a truly memorable day. We have plans to be back next month and will visit the gift shop today!

The Painted Tea Cup serves a wonderful variety of Teas with a knowledgeable staff to assist you in deciding on a tea. The tea was sooo good I purchased it to take home. They served the tea with orange slices, cinnamon sticks sugar cubes and cream on table if you opt to use. The butternut squash soup was amazing and wanted to lick the bowl clean!! Then they served a big variety of tea sandwiches and scones that were fresh, homemade and delicious!!! Just when i thought it couldn't get any better-dessert was fabulous! The atmosphere is warm and cozy. Beautifully decorated. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There is also I gift shop that I was able to purchase the tea I enjoyed sooo much during my experience. I would highly recommend The Painted Tea Cup!

Having visited quite a few tea rooms over the years, The Painted Tea Cup was a pleasant treat! Everything on our plates was homemade, and it showed. The soup was divine and I'll admit I licked the bowl! The scone/sandwiches had nice variety and flair. The desserts unique and flavorful. The teas were good too. Served with cinnamon sticks, slices of lemon and orange, and candied sugars you could add to the tea. The staff was knowledgable, accommodating (we arrived an hour early) and on top of things! The decor is homey, inside and out... linens, china, holidays decorations, samples, knick knacks to purchase. I'd highly recommend!

My friend and I have traveled to many tea rooms over the years and I can not say enough wonderful things about this one!! The atmosphere was so special when you walked in the door. There are delights around every corner. Once we sat down and were served our tea it was the best service and the food was absolutely heavenly. The roasted butternut squash with creme and a dot of fig jam was to die for. The finger sandwiches and deserts were wonderful. I will defiantly be making the 2 hour trip back to the painted tea cup in the future!!

My lovey wife and I enjoyed high tes for the first time in June 2012. It was the most wonderful exoerience with a very pleasant atmosphere. We have arranged for another visit in July and will continue to have high tea once a month as time for us to get away and enjoy the finer things in life. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to really have a great experience of jolly English high tea. Everything from begining to end was wonderful. I have told everyone I know to make sure they go and experience it for themselves. I cant wait till Saturday to try another great tea.

This is an exceptional tea room. The place is spotless. As soon as you walk in the door the smells are soothing and inviting. There are many different teas to choose from and the food is delicious. The service is GREAT! Very helpful and caring staff. Everything is presented on beautiful china and the food is described so that you know exactly what you are eating. Please don't let the location stop you from coming. There is parking just outside the door. You must make a reservation for tea especially on Saturday.

We were welcomed and served by Mary Hawkins, the owner of tea room. Absolutely lovely experience. Mary is very well informed about the art of tea and our party of four had a wonderful time together enjoying the delicious tea choices, the delicious food and the excellent service. All of this was offered at an outstanding price. I give them 5 stars for our time with them this past week!

A close friend introduced me to this outstanding tea room recently and it was so excellent I returned with my husband and mother-in-law for Mother's Day and plan to return very soon to introduce my daughter and granddaughter. It's the closest I've found to the teas I experienced and enjoyed so much when I was staying in England. I have sampled nothing locally or even out of the area that comes close to the authenticity of decor,to the finely prepared (and delicious!)food and friendly attentive service. I am so glad to have found the Painted Tea Cup!

A spot of tea at the Painted teacup is a must for those who enjoy a serene and cozy atmosphere, excellent service, a wide variety of teas and delicious bites. My two daughters so look forward to their once a month treat at the tea house. I call the day before to let Mary know we are coming and she makes sure she has soy milk or creamer available. The pumpkin and oatmeal breads are to die for. If you like retail therapy, there is an assortment of reasonably priced trinkets for sale too. WE LOVE THIS PLACE!

For the 3rd year we have celebrated
my sister's birthday at The Painted
Tea Cup; what a lovely afternoon! The quality of food served at high tea is superb, and the service is wonderful. Treat yourself and visit
this treasure of a tea room in a beautifully restored early 1900's
home.

Thank you Mary!! My mother and closest girlfriends just threw me a bridal shower this past weekend. The house is a lovely intimate setting for a girlfriends gathering or a special occasion. There is a sitting room upstairs for guests to gather that is warm and cozy. The variety of teas are overwhelming but Mary helped us narrow down the choices to two flavors I think everyone enjoyed. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of food offered...it's not just the typical tea sandwiches and scones and it was tasty. I love afternoon tea and would recommend The Painted Tea Cup for a special occasion where you can relax amongst friends and not feel the stuffiness of a high end hotel tea. The pricing is also very reasonable when compared to other afternoon teas.

I want to thank Mary and her wonderful staff for a lovely time. We recently had my daughters baby shower at the Painted Tea Cup, and it was a very nice experience. Mary and her staff were very accommodating in every way. All of our guests raved about the food, tea, and ambiance. Mary and her staff did a superb job of pampering us from beginning to end. Thank you again, Mary! A great time was had by all!

Every time we go it is a magical experience. We are pampered from the minute we arrive till the minute we leave. It is such a great break from the hustle and bustle of life. Wish we could get there more often. I have teenage daughters who love to come along, which says alot! Can't say enough about the experience, food, service, etc. Thanks so much!

My co-workers and I had a lovely Christmas Tea last Tuesday evening. The food, service and teas served were superb. Mary prepares everything fresh and from scratch. She is the perfect hostess and you feel right at home.
The century-old Upper Darby Victorian home is the perfect setting. It has been lovingly restored and you are seated, surrounded by holiday items and scents.
The room is filled with gift items, which are reasonably priced. Also, the teas that are served can be purchased as well.
With my daughters wedding planned for October, 2011 this tea house will be the perfect spot for a Bridesmaids Tea and/or Shower.
It's nice to have such a treasure close to home. There is plenty for free parking just outside..no need to travel into the city and deal with the crowds and expensive parking fees.
Thank you, Mary for a wonderful experience ! See you again !

Myself and a friend gave a baby shower on Saturday. Everythiing was excellent. The tea, food and the exceptional service. The guest of honor was so happy and our other guest were extremely impressed. In fact a couple of the guest said it was the best baby shower they've attended. Marie and her staff do a phenomenal job. 9/13/2010

A group of 5 friends had a delightful experience at the Teacup. Two of us had visited previously and as before we loved it. Our friends who were there for the first time could not rave enough about the food, ambience, gift shop and most congenial service. Mary, the owner, and her servers add to the overall wonderful experience. Everyone came away saying we can't wait to go back!

This is an update to my previous review, because we have visited the new location. It is as charming as we expected, and the food and tea just as good. However, we were dismayed with the plastic over the tablecloth, which detracted from the ambiance. Also dismayed that each person isn't allowed their own choice of tea, but two made to choose the same one and share. For $19/person, we expect our own. This tea room is different from all the others in that the owner chooses your menu and your only choice is tea, but this is not a problem since we always enjoy what she has chosen for us. Always excellent.

Not only great for in house service, they made a take out order for my mother-in-law in Bath, PA. It was as perfect as could be. The sandwhiches and deserts held their own. Wish my M-I-L could have had the tea service experience, but the Tea Selection was satisfying. Thank you, we will be back again for another High Tea, soon.

I have been to the Beautifully decorated, Friendly and Lovely Tea house many times. The old location and the new. Each time I am Delighted, with the Atmosphere, teas and wonderfully delicious treats that are presented in a very exquisite and creative manner, with much variety of (yummy)flavors, textures and scale blending so nicely... Much thought is taken into preparation and presentation. The scent, music, lace and china ,send you back in time, when we actually took out the time to visit with friends. I always leave with a big smile on my face, plus pick up a few homemade jams, jellies. The candles are also wonderful. Great gifts for Christmas. My children bought me a gift certificate to spend however I wanted at the Tea House and it was the BEST gift for someone who has everything.

The Painted Tea Cup is an excellent tea house. It is homey with a Victorian twist! I have been to many tea rooms and they do not compare to The Painted Tea Cup in food and service. Plus they have a wonderful gift shop too! I can't say enough good things. The owner is very accommodating with special requests. Anyone with dietary restrictions only needs to call ahead.

Overall, the food and tea offerings are good. However, for those who are vegetarians, beware. Prior to receiving my tea sandwiches, I requested vegetable sandwiches only. The server (whom I believe is the owner) expressed her annoyance with my request and mentioned to give her at least a day's advanced notice so that the accommodation can be made. Typically, when I make such a request at other tea rooms, they were accommodating without issue. I was fine if I had to pay more due to it is a special request and/or having less tea sandwiches due to the last minute notice. Despite I informed the server that I'm vegetarian, she included meat tea sandwiches on my plate! I took this as an insult and lacking in customer service. Thankfully, my friend was willing to eat the meat sandwiches. It's disappointing my request could not be accommodated at the last minute but it's outrageous to serve a vegetarian meat sandwiches!

I have been to all who serve tea on the Main Line and this is the best. The teas are wonderful, loose of course, and served in china tea pots. The food is excellent and lovingly prepared by very pleasant owner and servers. The atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant. Cannot say enough about this wonderful tea house.

My Mother & I had a wonderful experience at The Painted Teacup. Mary the owner was wonderful. It is a very intimate tea room, and she makes you feel like friends she invited to tea. She doesn't hover over you however. The Butternut Squash soup was exceptional! Give yourself at least 2 hours to enjoy your experience. Can't wait to recommend it to my friends!

My husband and I recently had High Tea and what a memorable time we had. The owner, Mary, prepares all the fantastic food (little sandwiches, quiche, scones, fruit cup and mini desserts) and of course your choice of tea which is beautifully presented and graciously served by her. She also makes all her own jellies & jams which she uses and sells in her gift shop (needless to say, I had to buy some jam plus a few other items). Can’t wait for our next visit which hopefully will be very soon and we will be bringing a friend along.

The Painted Tea Cup started out as a place to celebrate special occasions. Now I go to make the day a special occasion. The atmosphere is very relaxing and once you are seated you don't want to leave. You are always greeted with the best service and the food is always a wonderful surprise. I always go for the High Tea.You need to make a reservation at least one day in advance. The cost is very reasonable and the food is fresh and delicious. There is also an extensive list of teas to choose from and the server continuously freshens up your cup. It also has a lovely gift shop with teas, homemade and handmade crafts. I always look forward to my next visit. Once you go your hooked.
