My husband and I went to high tea here and it was the most wonderful atmosphere, food, service EVER! I have also taken my daughters and friends there. The sandwiches are heavenly, the scones are melt in your mouth, and the pastries-OMG-the BEST! The atmosphere is like stepping back in time-a time we all want to relax in!

Had a great lunch at Steeped in Comfort today with my daughter. The tuna sandwich was delicious, the soup is the best ever and the scone was a great way to top off our lunch with our pots of tea.

I absolutely love this place! I went there with a work colleague and fell madly in love with Steeped in Comfort. My fiance and my daughter also love it. There is a huge variety of teas, the chicken/wild rice soup is a phenom. And the scones, lemon butter and raspberry...I gotta stop myself! It's a place you must visit, it's like walking into your grandmother's kitchen on baking day.

My daughter and I met to celebrate the news of she and her husbands first pregnancy. A very charming appropriate traditional setting. The teas were replenished often and the full Butlers lunch, consisted of a large slice of quiche, soup, scone and tea, an ample treat. We didn't have reservations...(as it was our first time there),well received and much enjoyed, will return soon!

Owner is very nice and welcoming. My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful tea we had the Queen's High Tea for 2 which included a pot of tea for each of us and we each had a 3 tiered display which included two of each type of finger sandwiches and even a slice of warm quiche, a tier of savories and the wonderful top tier (I had to take home half of it, I was so full) house made chocolate crossant, cupcake, homemade chocolate chip and a snickerdoodle cookie and a raspberry tart. Very reasonable prices and the quality is excellent. The fresh pastries and fresh made desserts made such a difference. The owner and servers make you feel welcome and invite you to stay a while and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. They offer loose leaf teas. I had the Yorkshire Gold which was excellent, not too strong but very flavorful. There is a small gift shop area and the teas are available for purchase. Wonderful experience and I will definately return and introduce more of my friends to Steeped in Comfort.

Owner, Margie Todd and Pastry Chef, Heather Todd work hard to provide a lovely experience. The scones are wonderful. Tea services range from tea and scones to a fancy high tea. My family enjoys tea here several times a year.

The owner is very nice, she told me what might react with my lactose intolorance. Wonderful pumpkin scones. I have been there several times and have enjoyed it.

It was very comforatable. I would call and make reservations.

My sister and I went here, as we have been trying different tea rooms. The employees were not as friendly as I would have liked. If you didn't have a reservation they pretty much ignored anyone who came in. We watched as some other people who had finished wanted to buy some scones and were told they don't have extra you have to pre order. Not the friendliest place for sure. Also service was pretty slow!

My friends and I have been here several times and it is always such a pleasure. This is a charming and lovely tearoom. The food is wonderful (especially the scones - try the pumpkin!). Great lunches and reasonable prices. The service is always good and they have a nice selection of gifts and teas to purchase.

I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to find this tea room and to know it was close. I was most impressed with the food and how everything was made from scratch. The food was delicious. I enjoyed drinking out of fine porcelain China because I think tea tastes better, and I think a reasonable selection of tea was offered and the prices fair. The service was slow, and it would have benefited having more than one server. I would have liked to have been offered a warm up on my pot of tea after sipping for 15 minutes or so. I will return and bring new guests as it was worth it to me for the food and the environment.

We had a lovely afternoon tea and sat by the fireplace for warmth. Steeped in Comfort lives up to its name by brewing a perfect pot of tea. They even add a tea cozy to keep your tea at the right temp. They started us off with a home-made fruit tart which had a flakey crust and soft custard topped with ripe strawberrys. The afternoon tea came with a bacon and cheese quiche which was baked to perfection. There were four types of finger sandwiches which was more than enough to fill a hungry tummy. Normally, I never eat the sweets because they are boring and overly sweet. However, this time I wanted to finish all the sweets-pecan pie, sugar cookie, chocolate cake and pumpkin bread. The best part was the scone. The scones were described as 'melt in your mouth' It was a perfect description for those heavenly scones.

I highly suggest this tea house. If you want a place for relaxing and enjoying a perfectly brewed pot of tea and delicious scones then try Steppped in Comfort. I have tried several tea houses- including Fairmont high tea- and this is my top pick for tea in the Seattle/Tacoma area:)

I have been here several times with friends, and have also treated my girls to the delightfull world of tea. This place is amazing with such warmth and satisfaction from the gifts to the soothing sips of your choice of tea and a nice choice of great food. My oldest daughter brought my two youngest granddaughters (2 years old and the other 3 months old).

Some of the teas are a blend, and I continue to tell friends and others about this great find.

      Enjoy!

I am the former owner of Steeped In Comfort and I have been ill since we sold the place. I came back in October to bring my Mother and show her how darling and wonderful the shop still is. My Mother passed away the following week and I went in and had a 3 way by-pass. I am so much better and really miss this spot in my life. Margie and Heather are doing a great job and I couldn't be happier with the new owners. Congratulations to them and to their shop. I still like to Relax, Refresh and Renew!

We were a group of five. Seated in the back area near the bathroom. The food was excellent. Flourless chocolate cake melted in your mouth. The freshly backed scone was buttery. She has a special selection of teas from France which are rich and flavorful Service was excellent and our tables were clean. Nice little shop. You could not resist to buy something.

The service was excellent, and the desserts were amazing! The antique shop was very beautiful, although some things I couldn't afford. The brownies were obviously cooked to perfection, and very pure. The scones however were a bit crumbly but tasted very good! Overall, a fabulous establishment!

My husband took me to Steeped in Comfort this afternoon, I did enjoy myself, but I do have 3 complaints. First, we were seated in the back, which was nice, but, it was right by the bathroom. The problem was, the bathroom door was wide open and I had to ask my husband to get up and close the door because I did not want to eat my lunch staring at the toilet. Second, the table cloth was full of crumbs. My husband and I had to wipe off the table ourselves. And last, the scones did not taste fresh and you could not take a bite without the whole thing falling apart in your hand.

I know no place is perfect and I will go there again. But there are a few touches that need to be worked on.

The food was AWESOME!!!! A lot for your money. Lots of tea choices. And the service itself was pleasant. Thank you.

Our first visit to Steeped in Comfort was an excellent experience. The tea, African Autumn Rooibos, was delicious and perfectly brewed. Every morsel on the tiered server was fresh and delicious, especially the pumpkin desserts! As for the scones...they were outstanding. Even the ones we took with us were fresh and tasty two days later. We look forward to visiting again when we are in the area.

Steeped in Comfort is a cozy, comfortable Tea Room and has become a favorite place to meet with friends and family. Each visit the owner has come to the table with a warm friendly smile to take our order. She will assist you in narrowing down your choice of the many different types of teas offered. Her Daughter in law is the Pastry Chef. The last time we visited we experienced her wonderful, fluffy, freshly baked Blueberry Scones, served with preserves, lemon curd and cream. These were so delicious I bought more to take home! The food is attractive and tastes freshly made. Portions are generous. From the Afternoon Tea's to Homemade Soups, Salads, and Sandwiches all is good. I will continue to bring others here for the relaxing, unhurried, atmosphere and excellent food. There are also many tea related items in the gift shop on site.

Over the years, I have sampled the menus of many teashops, from Southern and Northern CA. to Victoria, B.C. and England. Steeped in Comfort is one of my favorites. The shop offers many varieties of high quality teas in a relaxed atmosphere. The tea comes to the table perfectly steeped with the leaves removed and ready to pour. A favorite treat is the Afternoon Tea, which comes with a delightful assortment of finger sandwiches, and two warm, fresh-baked scones (lemon curd, preserves and Devonshire Cream are nestled nearby). The shop employs a full-time pastry chef, whose sole purpose is to satisfy your sweet tooth. (Too full from lunch, I sometimes order a sweet to take home for dessert.) With a staff of about three, which includes the owner doing most of the 'legwork,' I am always impressed by her graciousness. As a frequent visitor, I know she tries to accommodate all requests and guests, no matter how absurd or discourteous. I look forward to many more leisurely afternoons at Steeped in Comfort sipping tea and noshing delicate little treats.

I just recently went online to read the reviews of Steeped in comfort and I was shocked. I am a long time customer, both previous and new owners, and to be honest, the new owners have been excellent. The scones especially, but the food overall has improved greatly. Everything is homemade by the pastry chef and is so much better than the store bought everything that used to be there. It sounds like there are a lot of bitter old customers that cannot appreciate their tastebuds. This is one of the best tea rooms that I have been to, so please do not let your choice be affected by unkind people.

With the previous owners, it was a very nice experience. This time the quiche was overdone and dry and the tea was bitter. The new owner was not friendly. My friend and I have not been back. We've been going to the Secret Garden Tea Room and The Hawthorne Tea Room which are much superior..

I just had the greatest scone in my life! I haven't been able to find scones like these anywhere. I found the service to be quite outstanding considering the three employees(at least of what I saw), and felt quite comfortable in my seat next to the fireplace. Regarding earlier comments, I am ashamed to hear of others whom i assume are 'old' customers, that wish to batter the name of the new owners. I understand dissapointment when you can't get an item which you were used to enjoying, but to 'badmouth' the ones who have chosen to continue the business out of spite is just downright shameful

On first introduction I was very disappointed with my experience. We were turned away after they started to run out of food which I found out later was a result of a surge of customers. It was supposed to be a Mommy & Me afternoon so I had a very sad little girl. We made a reservation and came back the next week and I am pleased that we did. It wasn't over the top but simple and enjoyable. The owner made it a point to make it up to my daughter with special touches and attention. We only had tea and scones but oh my goodness, they were good! I can't wait to try the rest of the menu on future visits.

My husband and I visited Steeped In Comfort and were quite impressed. They have their own pastry chef on staff and she makes the most tender, moist and flavorful scones I have ever had; the cinnamon cream which accompanied the scones tasted like gingerbread!

Our afternoon tea was brought out promptly, beautifully presented, supremely fresh and our teas, one Earl Grey, one Darjeeling, were steeped to perfection!

It is sad when only the disgruntled patrons write reviews complaining about strange things like no tea bags (only inferior tea can be made from a tea bag, and leaving the tea, bagged or loose, in the water even one minute longer than required to brew will produce bitter tea) and members of their parties not receiving items...even the best of establishments make mistakes and can only correct them if made aware of them.

I will be returning again soon...still dreaming of those scones and cream!...Mmmmmm.

This teahouse recently went under new ownership in Aug. 2006. Under the previous, original owners, I frequented the tea house several times a year and thought it was absolutely superb in every aspect. Today was my first visit since the new owners took over, and I am sad to say that I was very disappointed. The atmosphere, gift shop, tea, and service were still nice (although not as good as before), but the food was especially disappointing and not nearly as good a value as before. The food is completely different. Gone is the wonderful mixed fruit cup you used to receive; gone are the mini quiches as well. The scones were too moist for my liking, tasting more like muffins. Most all of the sandwiches were extremely bland and very ordinary (tunafish, egg sald, and dark meat chicken?). The desserts were very average, and you only receive half as many as you used to. There was nothing I ate that made me say 'Yum!' or 'Wow, that was really good!' They also serve a children's tea, and we thought this was lacking too. The sandwiches were good for the kids and the scones and desserts were okay, but gone were the fruit, veggies, crackers, cheese, and gummy bears they used to serve. Also, the menu says the kids are supposed to receive a petite tart like the adults, but my kids never revceived one. The adults got theirs, and my kids sat there with nothing until the rest of the food arrived. I'm not sure I will return.

This tearoom was dreadful. The service was absolutely terrible and we couldn't even get what was ordered. Tea came out reasonably time, but they failed to bring our 2nd pot for another 20 minutes.

It was another 35 minutes before we recieved our 'fresh' scones etc. Once the food arrived, we had to eat off of our saucers, as other reviewers have mentioned, because they do not give the patrons plates.

      AVOID.

I visited Steeped In Comfort with my mother, the setting of the shop is very sweet and cozy but I have to agree with some of the other reviews the service was lacking it took over 20 minutes to bring the pots of tea. When my tea arrived it poured out black like tar (it was stewed) not steeped and no teabag in the pot I asked the girl for hot water to weaken it and then asked if my tea waa really earl grey as it did not taste like earl grey. (very strange to bring a pot of tea to a table with no teabag in it who knows what it was)our sandwich and scone selection was nice but I would not go back I felt like they didnt care if you visited or not no one even said goodbye after we paid our bill. Shame hate to see the service on a busy day as there was only two other tables in.

I have been going to Steeped In Comfort since last summer every opportunity I have! From start to finish it is without a doubt, my favorite Tearoom! My husband has accompanied me twice and loves it too. Tea is to be taken liesurely and without a fast pace. All of the friendly staff (owners included) encourage you to relax, refresh and renew! (just like their menu suggests) Loose tea (a great selection) is served in bone china cups and saucers and fruit cups come in sherbets like my Mother had. It gives me a wonderful nostalgic feeling. After the fruit cup is cleared, the 3 tiered plate is presented with a great variety of scones, desserts and sandwiches. Lovely to look at, lovely to eat. I highly recommend 'taking tea' here for anyone looking for a truly wonderful experience!

I was appalled by the service. The owner Elsie was my server and she was very rude. It took 40 min. to get a pot of tea. I ordered the making memories tray. Horrific! I received, but no plate. I was told you eat off of the saucer at Steeped in Comfort because Elsie said she was tired of her 'good' plates getting broken. So obviously her 'good' plates are not used on paying customers. The food is was not fresh. The desserts are not homemade. My cream puff was still frozen. The sandwich breads were dry as if they had been sitting out for awhile. There was no presentation with the tea, no explanation of what will be served, and once Elsie brought my tray out...she never returned. If you open a tea room you need to be sure you have a friendly personality...and some knowledge of tea presentations!

I couldn't believe how rude the people were at Steeped in Comfort. I stopped by with my 5 yr old daughter as a reward for her doing so well in kindergarten. When I opened the door the lady was very rude and told me they were closed and that there was a sign on the door that I should have read before entering. I asked for a brochure with a list of the store hours. The hours are 11 am - 4 pm. It was 3:15. When I asked about this she replied that it was due to a party.

Only the back room happened to be occupied. I find their lack of wanting to do business very odd. However, I felt even worse for my very sad, dissapointed daughter. For God's sake, make a reservation...store hours don't apply at Steeped in Comfort.

Steeped In Comfort has well prepared teas, tasty food and a cozy atmosphere. However, unless you like rude service and being berated , don't go without a reservation, with children or more than 3 people. Steeped In Comfort should take a lesson from other tea rooms. If you don't have space or are understaffed, simply and politely say 'I'm so sorry, but we aren't abe to accomodate your party today. If you would please make a reservation for another day we would be most pleased to serve you.' Simple, affective and Steeped In Comfort keeps customers.
