Tea and Teacups

Tea and Teacups is a traditional English style tearoom serving Cornish pasties, finger sandwiches, savory quiches and creamy soups. The award winning scones [made from scratch] are served with preserves and whipped Devonshire cream. The desert menu includes many delectable choices created daily on the premises. The tea room and gift shop is located in Yorba Station, a block away from Old Town Yorba Linda.
The tea menu has been expanded to include over 100 loose leaf teas and sachets including teas imported from the world’s finest plantations. Black, oolong, green teas, rooibos and herbals [tisanes] are well represented. Several teas are blended with aromatic flowers, tasty fruits, spices and flavorings. Our favorite teas are available in convenient packages in the gift shop and upon request.
The tea experience provides an escape from the hectic live-style where the patrons are encouraged to sample different teas in an unhurried warm and cozy cottage setting. Children are able to enjoy the menu in smaller portions with several different theme parties for any occasion. For those young and old individuals who enjoy an opportunity to dress up, a wide hat selection of hats is available to wear. The Red Hat groups are warmly invited.
To our terrific patrons,
Tea and Teacups will not close its doors!
Terry and I wish to announce that we have found an individual who shares our enthusiasm for the tea experience. We are honored to introduce Dolly Shewa as the new owner of Tea and Teacups. Like so many of you Dolly has enjoyed countless family celebrations and yet simple getaways since the doors of this iconic tearoom opened twenty five years ago.
Terry and I have greatly appreciated your tremendous acceptance of our vision to share our knowledge, interpretation and methodology of building a family through the love of tea.
We are pleased to share this heartfelt message from Dolly Shewa.
Warmest regards,
Terry and Claudia Naffziger
Dear Tea and Teacup Loyalists,
Tea and Teacups has held a very warm spot in my heart ever since it opened. I have decided to take over the ownership of Tea and Teacups, as Terry and Claudia decided to close this special tea house. I have been living in Yorba Linda for the past 30 years and still remember the day Tea and Teacups opened. My heart has a great attachment to this homely tea house, so I decided that I cannot let it close. I still remember the first time I took my 3 daughters to the tea house and were given the royal treatment one would only find in London. After our many visits, we had made Tea and Teacups our home for gloomy raining days and bright summer afternoons. We have been regular clients of Tea and Teacups for almost 25 years and have hosted several birthday parties and baby showers there. When we found out that Claudia was retiring, as she wanted to spend more time with her husband and travel, we were very saddened. Everyone in my family, including my grandsons, love the place. I decided to take over the tradition of serving the same high quality tea, sandwiches, and scones.
My dream of owning my own tea place stemmed from my childhood itself, and always in the back of my head I wished one day to fulfill it. I have beautiful memories of my childhood that include my birthday parties hosted by my mother, which were themed with a lavish English High Tea and complete with neatly cut tomato, cucumber, and egg sandwiches, shortbread cookies, and cake. The only exception was the addition of some Indian savories like potato fritters and mithai (homemade sweets). I learnt from her how to host a high tea with neatly cut sandwiches and sweets.
My daughters and I are very excited to take over the business and keep the same warm and comfortable environment with the delicious tea and menu. Be on the look out for our addition of Indian sandwiches and sweets to the menu! We look forward to personally meeting each and every one of you and can't wait to continue
With Great Love,
Dolly Shewa

I had a friend that used to work here when it was more traditional. The last time I went here the atmosphere was changed to a more modern setting. Not exactly what I’m into when having tea with my buddies. We like the foofy. The tea and scones are still good but the change kind of killed it for us. We have started going elsewhere for our foof.

I once worked at a Tea Parlor that unfortunately is no longer open. That was my first exposer to the Tea world. Needless to say I fell in love. I have visited several Tea Parlors in the past couple of months and I must say that Tea and Teacups is definitely at the top of my list!!! The owner is an amazing women and her staff is awesome. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and patient (we had a hard time picking which teas to start with). The food was great and the tea selection, although large, is amazing. We even created a new blend!!! If you have the time you should make a trip to Tea and Teacups!!!

Tea & Teacups has always been a great experience for tea. The tea selections are vast and there are so many teas to choice from it is sometimes difficult! The scones are to die for! My son loves coming here with me he can't get enough of the scones! We happen to go two times this week! The events that the tea house puts on are very entertaining.

I love going to tea. I have been here several times! Enjoyed every sip and bite. They also offer many different events which I think makes this place unique. I highly recommend it!

I am part of a group of five ladies who love to come to Tea and Teacups at least once a month. The staff is always warm and welcoming, the food is delicious, and the assortment of teas is the best anywhere. We love the ambiance, and always leave with a big smile on our faces. We highly recommend Tea and Teacups to all our friends.

I absolutely love coming to Tea & Teacups.
The #1 reason is that they allow you to choose as MANY teas as you'd like!!!!!!
The soups are amazing and the little sandwiches are great! You have to get a scone when you come here because they are so warm and delicious!

I arranged to have a club meeting at Tea and Teacups and the ladies can't wait to return. The room and service were charming and the food was wonderful. I even received thank you notes for holding the meeting at such a warm, welcoming shop which I will pass to the owner who did such a great job.

WOW! Had a fantastic time with my friends and sister, on Saturday Aug. 14. The service was exceptional. Tea choices were abundent and able to switch to try something new. A varity of tasty sandwiches and scones were hot out of the oven. And they were Hughe! We had plenty of elbow room and not stuffed in a corner like other tearooms. Prices were Great!

I love this Tearoom! I find it very relaxing. I especially enjoy the huge selection of teas and love the scones as well.

Good atmosphere, friendly yet cozy. Reasonable prices. We had the Lady’s tea which was the perfect amount of food. They are very generous with the tea variety and encourage you to try different teas throughout our visit here. Really appreciated the flexibility with 'sampling' teas so you can find the one you really like.

I met some friends at Tea and Teacups for a birthday celebration in December. The tea selection is quite extensive and impressive. We each were given our own pot of tea and were allowed to switch to different teas which was quite nice. The scone was HUGE and we had enough food that we chose to take home our desserts. (We had the High Tea) All of the food was good, nothing that I disliked. Reasonable prices too. I'd definitely recommend Tea and Teacups and plan to return.

We took our Girl Scout troop for a celebration and everything was perfect. The staff was wonderful with the girls. We were able to try a couple of different teas each (the adults). The food was excellent, I was the only one to get the carrot/apple soup and everyone else at the table loved it too. All 10 of us had a great time and the girls are anxious to go back soon. The adult Tea for Two was an excellent deal for everything we received. Thank you for a great day!

Just visited there today with friends and family to celebrate new baby arriving soon and had a great time. Everything was great overall. Didn't love the soup and one of the sandwiches, nothing wrong with it just not my taste. Staff was very gracious and service was excellent. Place was perfect for a women's tea, nicely done not too over the top. Would definintely recommend to anyone without hesitation.

I am a regular visitor to Tea and Teacups in an area with quite a few tea options available. The staff are great and the owner very gracious (and very open to suggestions). While I generally prefer the black teas, I tried a Rooibus today that was marvelous. The tea menu has been expanded over the last year to include something for just about anyone...black, white, red, chai teas. The desserts are also varied with a fantastic chocolate pot/cake item and creme brulee as the latest additions. The prices are reasonable with the High Tea about $23, but with a variety of other less costly choices if you are not hungry enough for soup, scone, sandwiches, quiche AND dessert. The place is generally busy on weekends with celebrations but it is definitely worth checking out.

The Tea and Teacups owner and staff are gracious, courteous, and a genuine pleasure to be around. I was one of the hostesses for a bridal shower and our original venue cancelled on us at the last minute. Tea and Teacups was right there to offer their professionalism and expertise and help save the day. The bridal shower was a huge success and most of that can be attributed to Tea and Teacups assistance in providing a comfortable atmosphere, wonderful service, and an abundance of teas and goodies. Everyone was enjoying themselves so much, we got carried away with time, and they graciously let us stay over almost an hour past our reserved time frame with no problems and a very welcoming attitude.
I highly recommend this tearoom.

I have visited Tea and Teacups several times with friends and each visit has been a delight! The Tearoom is cozy and pretty. The service, the food, and the tea are the best! My favorite is the delicious Ham salad sandwich! The scones are made on site and are the best I've ever had! We really love to try the different teas that are available. Rhonda, our waitress and the owners, Claudia & Terry were a wealth of knowledge about the numerous teas. My friends and I will continue to treat ourselves to Tea & Teacups. What a great place!

My friend and I went to this teahouse earlier this year and I feel compelled to write a 'review' after reading some other comments. The good points were the service. We were the only table in the place, so we had good service. They seemed pretty slow that day, so they were probably happy to have us. Our waitress was nice. The place was still decorated with Xmas stuff, but the place was WAY too frilly for our taste. But it is high tea, so it was ok. The food was not good. Deviled Ham with Black Currant Jelly. Need I say more??? The other was Chicken with Apricot Jam. I don't even think we got any further than that with the tea sandwiches. The scone was nothing special. I do remember the cake/dessert thing being inedible. We got a box for it and ended up just throwing it away. I think you'd go there if you just want the atmosphere. Like I said our waitress was nice. Oh and the tea was good, but I don't think I would go for anything other than that.

We had a group of 8 who attended on an extremely busy May Saturday. We had our own private room, which made it much easier to hear everything. The selection of teas was fabulous-- there were probably 100 or so options. Everyone loved their meals. The spinach/mushroom quiche was amazing, as was the Welsh rarebit. We were also served refills on our teas, which I found many tea houses don't. We all agreed that we would definitely come back here again.

We had an absolutely wonderful afternoon at this lovely tea shop! The teas were numerous and to say the least, delicious. The hostess was attentive and personable - we made a new friend. Another group was having a birthday party for an eight year old with all her friends - we enjoyed watching them with their polka dot tea cups while our bridal shower guests arrived. The food inspired us all to try new recipes at home, but we truly appreciated the tastes while we visited. By the way, the bride was new to 'having tea' and she loved it! We'll return soon!

Wow...where do I begin. Well, my daughter (Gabby, 6) and I went to this tea room as a last minute thing, because they were hosting a Alice In Wonderland theme:) OMG, so cute and amazing. This tea room was not only nice, traditional, and homely but it offered a theatrical piece which was really fun for Gabby and myself. The food was great, the theatre group was awesome and attentive to the audience, and the service was very good. I definitely will return, especially when they have another performance like this one. This by far was the best tea experience we both had. Thank you. Also kind of pricey but worth it for the two hour performance and food.

The graciousness of the hosts matched the home style atmophere. The food was wonderful. I belong to a tea circle, and this was one of the best places we have been to.

We had the pleasure of visiting this tearoom on 3/1. We were a large group of 10 and the service was wonderful, the owner Claudia and her assistant were extremely kind, warm, welcoming, and gracious. You had the feeling of being in someone's home, who really knew how to serve a good high tea! The carrot & apple soup was very good. The tea was HOT and tasty. Everything was delicious. The decor was pretty and the gift shop was very dangerous, I agree. Many beautiful items for sale, and she will even wraps them for you if you need her to. My tea cirle has been visiting tearooms and hosting teas for the past 8 years and this tea room is the best of the best! We usually don't go to the same tearoom twice, but I feel in this case we will need to make an exception!

I used to love this tea room when it first opened way back when and now with the new ownership I've got that lovin' feeling back again. Claudia is kind, unassuming and gracious and makes you feel sincerely welcome. The shop on the other hand is a danger -- way too many beautiful & tempting goodies for purchase :) I look forward to coming here more often... (and I apologize for the emoticon)

This tea room is a gem. Although we have patroned many a tea room, my tea friends and I are always happy to visit Tea & Teacups. The food and ambiance are never dissapointing. The service was previously my only complaint however it has improved dramatically the past few years. We will continue to come again and again. In our experience, we agree, the price reflects the level of quality food and service offered.

The service was delightful and the Mango Tea was delicious! The ambiance was beautiful as well but I wasn't impressed with the food. The soup I had tasted very familiar like Campbell's tomato soup except this had some oregano and cheese thrown in it =( The chicken and ham salad weren't very appetizing either and the dessert was chocolate bundt cake from the store. A lovely place but I would like to see more effort put into the food.

I have been to many tea rooms and this one is one of the best. The food was great and for those of you who would like traditional English food like Cornish Pasties, then this is the place to go. Of course they have the normal tea time time fare and it is delicious. Also, if you happen to have someone in your party who is not crazy about tea, they offer many refreshing alternatives. Great place. Can't wait to go back again.

A frequent tea 'go-er'
Have been to many many Tea rooms - and to complasain about paying for the pot of tea when the Ladies Tea is only 10.95 is laughable!! EVERYONE charges more than that - and yes it includes a pot of tea - but the price is xloser to $20.00 (or more) than $10.00
-
Elaine
I have been to this tea house several times before and have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere although the service can be a tad slow. However, I have just gotten back from a trip there and was appalled when it was time to pay the bill. In the past, tea was included in the entrees but this time I was charge $3.95 per tea pot!!! I have only been to 2 other tea houses so I am not sure if this is standard practice. However, I would assume an entree called 'Traditional Ladies Tea' would include tea, especially when it was $10.95. I went with 4 other women and no one remembers seeing this separate charge for tea noted on the menu. When paying we noted surprise at the extra charge and the lady whom I believe was the owner told us in a slightly haughty manner that it was either increase her prices or close her shop! So if you decide to go to this shop, beware of the hidden charges.

Sister and I took Mom to the Mother's Day tea on Saturday, 5-12-07. The room was nicely decorated with plenty of space between tables. We were seated at a table for 3 where Mom could sit on a bench decorated as a garden archway. She loved it. The staff was very accomadating, taking pictures, getting aquainted, explaining the day's menu. As this was a special tea, there were no choices given but we were happy with the server's suggestions. The room was full but never became noisy even though a number of parties had small children in attendance. We look forward to attending on of the holiday teas at Christmas time. Thanks ladies for a nice time and halping us make our Mom feel special.

If you are looking for a wonderful tea experience, look no further than Tea & Teacups. The food is tasty and flavorful, and the soups are rotated for those who like variety. The servers are friendly and helpful, and will even stop to take a picture of your party. The tearoom also produces special event teas on several holidays throughout the year. I bring all my O.C. friends to Tea & Teacups and my daughter and i consider it our 'secret oasis' from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Ms. Blackholly has provided us with a fabulous place to unwind.

I had a shower in the Parlor area, a private room in the back. I was promised that this area would be decorated in the same fashion as the outside, which had cushions for the seats, glass table top over floral table cloth....but instead I found no cushions, and stains on an old crochet table cloth that had shrank from years of use (ie didn't fit). The room had poor ventilation so we requested a fan which they graciously provided…except the fan had dust bunnies all over it so when we turned it on, it blew clumps of dust on some of the guests. The service was slow because all the parties in the room were scheduled to commence at the same time…a bit of poor management. The sandwiches were disappointing in both taste and appearance, although the scones and tea were good. Overall, a let down from all the favorable postings and would not recommend it personally.

This tea room is something special! It's cozy and warm and decorated beautifully. The service is great and the teas are delicious. The gift shop has so many great selections of teacups and teapots. I liked that each table setting is different. The soup and the scones are delicious and the spiced chai tea is my favorite. I'm looking forward to my upcoming bridal shower here!

A San Jose Tea lover
We had a group of 7 this past Sunday 1/15/2006, all family. A very very nice time was enjoyed by all. Service could have been a little better but they were very busy with other parties larger than our. Didn't like that we had to pay before for half of it...that left my Aunt paying most of the bill instead of us all sharing...once she gets to pay she won't let you pay...one of those...hee! I noticed Lisa's Tea Treasures teas on the menu as well as other fine teas. All was lovely!

I held a baby shower there and it was great! There were about 10 of us and they really took care of us.The staff was phemomenal and it was about 1/3 of the price of ALL other tearooms in Orange County. I will never throw another shower at my home - I will do them ALL at Tea and Teacups!
-
Nette 'Auntie Tea-Party' Patterson
I have been to EVERY Tea Room in Orange County but my heart definitely belongs to Valerie's Tea and Teacups! The food is authentic, delicious, and I have brought ALL of my nieces and friends' little girls to enjoy a true experience of an elegant tea party. The tea room is beautifully decorated and the service for little girls superb with all their favorite goodies and different themes to enjoy to make future visits desirable. Keep up the excellent job!

I loved the way the tea room was decorated. The staff was very friendly. The gift shop was wonderful. The food on the other hand was lacking. Not the best finger sandwhiches. The salad was, I felt would have gone better with a nice steak dinner instead of a tea sandwhiches. The scones were also not the best of have ever had. I would most likely visit the gift shop only on my next visit.

I have to say, I hadn't heard great things about this tearoom but read some good postings so I decided to try it for myself. The staff was friendly and the strawberry soup was good, but the rest left much to be desired. The tea sandwiches weren't great and I have been to places with better ambiance. Not that it's really their fault, but they are located in a strip mall. I guess I am just used to visiting my favorite tea room thats in a cute little yellow house. The girls at tea and teacups were again, very sweet, but the food could use some help. Definatley NOT the best scones I have had, but all in all an 'o.k.' experience.

Elaine
Great service! Our server was able to recommend a couple of nice teas that were perfect for a warm, sunny afternoon. Variety of finger sandwiches were typical for tea places, but these were flavorful in taste. I've never tried cold soup before, but I found their cold strawberry chardonnay soup to be very delightful. Warm, cozy ambience. I would definitely go back again and again.

Pretty little tea room. Very relaxing, never felt rushed. The owner is friendly and very attentive. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was cozy and quaint, and the food was delicious. I ordered the High Tea and was very pleased. The food was rich and delicious. The scones were the best I've had anywhere and were especially good with the Devonshire cream. I ordered the Mango Mist tea and loved it. If you finish your pot of tea, they will refill it with more hot water. The shop in the front is also fun to browse through. Many imported items you won't find just anywhere. I highly recommend this tea room and can't wait to return!
