A group of Goose Creek Tea Ladies visited the tearoom again yesterday and, as usual, we were very pleased with our visit. The food is both delicious and visually appealing. The service was excellent! We will definitely be going again.

I collect teas from all over the world and always enjoy coming here, because of the wonderful choices of all types of tea - oolongs, white, green etc. this is not just a typical tea room with limited choices of teas. Also, the owner understands the importance of serving hot pots, not tepid pots of tea. The food is excellent and not skimpy, so large eaters and men will not feel deprived. The ambiance of silver, white linen tablecloth, beautiful antique white napkins and sterling silver along with a magnificent view make it one of the best places in the Southeast for tea and I've tried over 150 tea rooms in the US over the past 20 years, many I would not return to, but this one is something special! I live in Charleston and would go weekly if it were closer.

Lovely, lovely place for a special celebration lunch & tea. I had the tomato tart for lunch, which was great - but the house salad was AMAZING (baby greens, deep-red tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles & pecans with a raspberry vinaigrette). I'd eat it every day, and Im going to try to recreate the mint lemonade at home. The hubby had the grilled pimento cheese and it made him hum with happiness, and a lovely field pea salad beside. But the cream tea! My my! Scones with clotted cream, lemon curd and an apple-tea jelly. Great with the house tea blend (an unusual black tea with citrus tones). I'm so impressed by the fresh, bright tastes and beautiful food coming out of this tiny place; they should be proud.

What a great way r to end the tour of this fascinating former rice plantation. The food was excellent, artfully prepared and delicious. The owner was delightful as was the tour guide. The tables were beautifully appointed with fine china and wonderful linens. Thank you so much for a trip back to a more restful time in history.

My partner and I came to visit Hopsewee Plantation, and were greeted by the wonderful aromas wafting through the air from the tea room.
The plantation house was wonderful. A true piece of americana.
Equally as lovely was the meal we sampled in the Hopsewee Tea Room. The ambiance was quite wonderful, the outside views were breathtaking, the food was delicious and artfully served.
We also enjoyed meeting the staff, and lady of the house.
We have had high tea at many fine establishments...The Empress Hotel Victoria BC, The Claridges, and Ritz London UK. Our experience at the Hopsewee Tea Room equaled the afore mentioned. Thanks Raejean, and Kitty for making our visit to the plantation a memorable one. We look forward to our next visit with you.

I had taken the tour of Hopsewee during the Plantation Tours in March, but had never stopped for any tea or luncheon. I must say that you have to add this on your list of things to do - the tour was excellent with a wonderful and informative guide, and then we extended our visit with a relaxing and wonderful lunch in the tea room. My friend visiting from MA had a quiche that she said was the best meal that she had on her seven day visit. I had a sampler of soups and salad that were especially nice. When asked if we wanted dessert, we said, 'Yes, all of them!' The owner was so gracious and gave us a sampling of 6-7 desserts - ALL unusual and great tasting. This is a place to come to with your friends and visitors. I know I will be back.

I found Hopsewee on-line, visiting the Myrtle Beach area for the first time and wanting to take a good friend (also a visitor) out for her birthday. It could NOT have been a better time: we were there for hours, never felt pressured and, in fact, our host brought us extra teas (different flavors - I loved the green tea with jasmine (and I'm not a green tea advocate). I will definitely be back!

We have found a gem to add to our 'must visit' list when guests arrive! The setting is magical with grand views from the dining room. The food from savories to salads and sweets offer a variety of superbly prepared meals. The Earl Gray Bergamot tea is worth the vist! Thanks to Raejean for your hospitality.

I visited Hopsewee for the house tour, not actually knowing there was a tea room on site. We had an excellent time - the tea was great, food was very good, and the host was wonderful. We had a very nice chat with her about the region as we took in the beautiful scenery outside.
I have been fortunate enough to have high tea in The Ritz in London - I really do think the tea at Hopsewee comes in a close second. We will be back!

We were a group of twenty one men and women who visited Hopsewee in early April 2011. We toured the Plantation House which was fascinating with the guidance of an enthusiastic docent!! Then we strolled across the grounds with beautiful gardens to the River Cottage which is the tea room. The room is elegant with a true low country atmosphere with views of ancient oaks, spanish moss and the river. Our group was divided into tables of seven each set with fine linen and English china. We sipped five different types of tea and swooned over each. Every tray of savories or sweets offered more drama. It was truly a delightful afternoon with a very authentic high tea experience. This is a place that shouldn't be missed!!

We were a large group and had a lovely tour of the plantation. Our tea was hot and ready to pour when we finished our tour - no waiting! This was nice because it was a rather chilly day. The two black teas we had were excellent and properly prepared. However, it might have been nice to have one of the teas be decaffeinated or an herbal. The tea-infused jams and jellies were just amazing. I could have eaten a whole jar with a spoon. I will most certainly be back and brng friends!

What can I say everyone I've brought to the tea room loved it, also Raejean is such an excellant hostess, needless to say I'll be back.

The owner of the historic house serves you the most beautiful, delicious high tea. She even was able to cater to my gluten-free, lactose free needs. What a find.

We visited the Hopsewee Plantation June 9,2010 and had tea at the tea room. We enjoyed the entire experience. The tour was wonderful and the tea was even better. I also purchased a sea grass basket that I love and want to thank everyone at the plantation.

My p[arents and I visited Hopsewee in May and truly enjoyed the entire experience. The tea's were excellent and the food was outstanding. One of our favorites was the ginger snap with the chicken curry. We would love the recipe! Desserts were wonderful and the scones and jams were the best. Thanks for a wonderful tea experience.

The Hopsewee Tea cottage is exquisite---everything that I envisioned it would be. The tea varities were good and well prepared. The food was excellent, such as white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, lemon chest pie, cucumber dainty, cheese and pesto on a cracker. Of course, the setting was the Old South complete with giant oaks and Spanish moss. The ambience was elegant but relaxed. I will definately go back.

We thought this tea room experience was in EVERY way SUPERB! The food was all excellent. The scones were still hot from the oven. The teas (either hot or iced) were very nice with a great choice. The views over the plantation grounds are very peaceful. And the service and the atmosphere were wonderful. We could not ask for anything different. Raejean gives each guest a personal invitation into her home and is a very gracious hostess.

What a wonderful experience - from the lovely environment to the delicious savories and sweets and delightful service. A relaxed, enjoyable experience which I highly recommend and plan to visit as much as possible. My friend with gluten intolerance had special foods prepared just for her and they were all delicious!
They had a great selection of teas and I'm sure the website will have more specifics on that. I had iced chai tea and it was wonderful! I would say the Tea Room had a traditional yet casual atmosphere with fabulous views of nature.

My husband and I just came back from the Hopsewee Plantation tea room and it was excellent. The teas were amazing and so was the food. We are definitely going to start eating more cucumber sandwiches.
I highly recommend Hopsewee for tea.

What a glorious day my sister and I spent at Ms. Beattie's tearoom at Hopsewee! The food was superb, and the ambiance so inviting! But most importantly, Ms. Beattie makes you feel so welcome. She is wonderful hostess, and a marvelous cook. I highly encourage anyone who reads this to take a group of friends to tea at Hopsewee Plantation. It is well worth it. There is nothing like it!

This was our first tea room experience and it was wonderful. We were served about four different types of tea, the Artic Rasberry was excellent. Who would have known that gingersnap cookies would be a great base for chicken salad mousse. On a gray, dreary day, the room was bright, warm and cheerful and our hostess and servers were charming. We will attend again.

Tea at Hopsewee Plantation is by far the best tea I have ever experienced. Mrs. Beattie prepares delicious and very unique southern savories, which are a real culinary treat. The scones, with a variety of equally delicious jellies, clotted cream, and lemon curd, are delightful. The sweets are all handmade, delicious, freshly prepared, and truly outstanding. Mrs. Beattie makes your tea experience a very memorable one. She is a very gracious hostess. Her outstanding culinary skills, along with the lovely ambiance and scenic outdoor view, make this tearoom the best you will experience in south carolina.

Six loose leaf teas were served to our party at tables covered in lovely white linens and set with English china. The Earl Grey Cream Tea was a delightful change from regular Earl Grey; my other favorite was the Jasmine with Flowers Green Tea. The cucumber sandwiches and scones complete with lemon curd and cottage cream were special favorites. The peaceful setting and beautiful view completed the tea experience. I plan to come again!

While on vacation this summer I had the pleasure of touring the Hopsewee Plantation and enjoying the savory delights of the tea room following our tour. The hostess insured that the experience was enjoyable, relaxing and the food was scrumptious. I have been to numerous tearoom and found this among the top.

The tearoom at Hopsewee Plantation is a calm, quiet room with lovely views of the historic Plantation and the river.
The variety of 8 different decaf teas appealed to me and I enjoyed both hot and cold tea on my two visits to Hopsewee.
Hopsewee-created jellies made with the teas are a special, delicious treat. I purchased the Blackberry Jelly to enjoy at home.
The savories were wonderful on each visit. We particularly enjoyed the chicken salad on homemade ginger snaps and the tomato pie.
The scones are freshly baked and perfect for the clotted cream, lemon, strawberry and homemade jelly.
I will continue to take guests to Hopsewee Plantation for the lovely combination of a SC Plantation home with a very informative one hour tour followed by an enjoyable, refreshing tea!

I have been to high tea in several places and nowhere has the food been as good as Hopsewee. Many of the food offerings are unique(spinach and blue cheese quiche, curried chicken on ginger crisps, earl grey tea jelly) and all are delicious. Neither of the five star establishments at which I've had tea offered food that was any better than that I had today. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing and the hostess is pleasant and accomodating. I can't reccomend this tea room highly enough; #1 in S.C. in my book.

This tea was an absolutely charming experience. Raejean, our hostess and baker extraordinaire, was so welcoming and generous with her knowledge of teas and Hopsewee that we can't wait to return. The teas, savories, scones and sweets were homemade, with unique presentations and flavors. You can't miss this tea. You'll love every minute!!!

A friend and I went to visit and tour the Hopsewee Plantation on June 4th. The plantation tour was so interesting and we really enjoyed the tea afterward. The Beatties are to be applauded for preserving the history of this lovely place and then making everyone's visit even better by serving this lovely tea. Everything was delicious from the little sandwiches to the scones and then the lovely desserts.
Thank you so much for a memorable day.

My husband and I toured the Hopsewee Plantation home on May 22 and then he 'agreed' to go to tea with me. This was his first tea experience and he wasn't too sure he would enjoy it, but the women who waited on us made him feel very comfortable and he enjoyed the tea, as well as the wonderful food served. He especially enjoyed the gingerbread wafers with curried chicken salad and toasted coconut. I enjoy going to tea wherever I visit and my daughter and I have given teas for friends, for a fund raiser and also for a neighborhood group. We have experienced many tea recipes, but the gingerbread wafers were new to me and very delicious. I will definitely go again if I return to the area. Another note -the service was great, even though they were preparing for a large wedding reception the next day.

A new tearoom on an old rice plantation. Lovely setting, beautiful scenery by the river, a lovely old home to tour. And then sit and enjoy tea. Our group had a wonderful time, the food was delicious and a nice variety served by a very gracious lady. You should not miss this tearoom. We will certainly return on our next visit.

If you live or visit the Myrtle Beach or Georgetown, South Carolina area, Hopsewee Plantation and Tea Room is a place you should not miss! I was fortunate to tour the beautiful plantation home and attend tea there in April. Loved it! The owner, Raejean Beattie was a gracious hostess, serving tea in a beautifully restored barn. She even entertained us by playing the dulcimer. There were six ladies in our group and we really enjoyed the creative menu selections. Best of luck to Hopsewee for continued tea time success!!

What a wonderful setting to have tea,an old Southern plantation home.Although the tea was served in a newly renovated barn, the atmosphere was relaxing and charming. The food was delicious and it was presented very beautifully.
I will definitely visit this place again if given the opportunity!

On a recent visit to Myrtle Beach, some friends and I discovered an ad for this new tea room and decided to try it, along with the tour of the Historic Hopsewee home. I am so very glad we did. The owner, Raejean, was such a gracious and delightful hostess. And the food - absolutley a fabulous! I have been to about 100 tearooms so it is difficult to come up with something new for me, but Reajean succeeded. She even accommodated my allergy to tree nuts. I strongly urge you to try this place. You will find hospitality, history, and delicious food, all in one stop!
