My husband and I had the most wonderful experience of enjoying delicious tea, wonderful service and delightful chatting with the owners. We were even offered a tour of their lovely place which is filled with antiques. I highly recommend this place if you want to feel pampered, to enjoy something out of the ordinary or simply to experience a great meal.

It's been some time since our visit, sorry it's taken so long to review!
My family and I travel far and wide for afternoon tea, just about every week. This is a very unique experience, a tea-and-tour hosted by the owners of the mansion. Very warm, genuine service, you feel like you're visiting old friends. We accidentally left my son's hat on his chair, and when we drove back to retrieve it, the hostess sent my husband back with an extra scone for the road because she knew how much we loved them. Very nice people. Go for a different type of tea experience!

We spent 4.5 hours with Zeda. Unfortunately Dennis was gone. We have experienced teas from New Zealand to Canada to England and be assured this was a memorable experience. Very enjoyable and we will return.

WOW! We have been to the teahouse on two separate occasions. First my husband and I went out of a curiosity for Victorian-era homes and then we returned for my daughters' 11th birthday party. Both times were phenomenal. The first time we not only received excellent food and a wide collection of teas (I favoured the Queens' Tea!) but we got a delightful tour of the tea house and the many collectables housed within. Dolls? Yes. Music? Yes. Furniture? Fixtures? Victrolas? Woodwork? History? Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. We there about three hours and had an extraordinary adventure.
We returned for the birthday party and once again they did not disappoint. Not only did Zeda research and create a special tea just for the girls, she made tea cakes and sandwiches that they devoured AND gave them their own special tour of the house, complete with ghost story. I have never seen a group of rowdy tweens so well behaved and so attentive. This fall I am bringing my whole family back for a tea party! And by the way, their profits go to charity. Yay for Zeda and Dennis! It's a secret delight in the redwoods.

This was the most amazing tea experience that my friends and I have had. It was unlike the normal tea room experience, much better. Deep in the redwoods this old mansion adds flavor to the wonderful food and amazing service. The environment was almost spiritual and the couple that runs the business was so accommodating and friendly. My husband, who is a manly man, even enjoyed it. This spot will for sure be on the mandatory to do list each time I visit the Northern California area.

Though the house was beautiful, the owners charged us for 10 people when only 9 were there. When my sister emailed them afterwards to ask about it, she got a long response back, with the owner (Zeda Elizabeth Ali Dowell) calling the tea guests rude, and telling her that all their proceeds go to charity, so asking for a refund was making laser eye patients in Guyana suffer: 'patients who cannot afford treatment will serve the consequences.' 'I am sorry to say but because of
your bridal shower and the rudeness of your guests, I will have to reconsider doing any more showers I do believe this will be a loss to this community but we do not need this to happen again to us.'
Wow - all this after asking for clarification of an overcharge of one person? We were all very nice and polite to everyone, and even spent a few hundred on additional items from the vendor there. The attitude and rudeness after our stay there has tarnished the whole experience for me. Needless to say, I won't be returning there.

My girlfriends and I had a wonderful time at this beautiful, antique-filled home. Zeda and Dennis do welcome you into their lovely home and share its rich history with you. They offer a wide variety of teas not commonly found in most tea rooms as well as the usual teas like Earl Grey. Our gumbo was rich and hearty and the butterscotch pecan scones were warm, buttery and sweet. Zeda brought plenty of fluffy cream for the scones to keep some of us from pilfering our neighbors dish. This is a warm and inviting place tucked into the redwoods and I highly recommend it.

I visit tea rooms often and I must say this one was a most wonderful experience. While a bit different than a fluffy tea room, it rates for me right at the top. The food was excellent, ample and fresh. Zeda and her husband Dennis are great hosts who invite you into their home, share experiences and serve one of the most wonderful tea lunches I have ever had in the large dining room of this beautiful renovated mansion in the hills. It sets the stage making you feel like you are transported to a country home in Europe. While there is plenty of time to visit with the pals you bring to tea, you also leave feeling like you have met and made new friends in Zeda and Dennis. Just a wonderful experience. I hope to visit again soon.

If you are looking to experience the Ritz Carlton, this is not likely the Chateau for you. If you are looking for a bit of escape from the hustle of daily life and would enjoy some rest and relaxation in a beautifully restored mansion, nestled amongst the magestic redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains this Tea House holds endless lovely possibilities and should not be overlooked. Zeda and Dennis have spend a Kings ransom and a tremendous amount of time restoring this long neglected lovely old mansion for the enjoyment of tea visitors and family alike. The food is wonderful, the service among the very best. Like a newborn, Chateau Chansons is growing & changing with the owners plans & visions. As Zeta was the 1st to bring the tea experience to Fremont, I lookforward to seeing her visions for this new endeavor come to fruition. A lovely experience! Thank you!

Chateau Chansans D'Amour is not only tea amoung the redwoods but a transportation to an Elfland England complete with a red telephone booth and the mandatory china teacups and flowers. The many roomsare plush with antiques and cuddily with fine linen, dolls and collectibles. There is something for the eye everywhere: carved furniture, embellished windows, finished woods and magnificent views. Tea is served at a formal dining table, an intimate setting before the fireplace, or on one of the many balconies. Choices can be made of exotic tea blends from around the world served with homemade scones, clotted cream, imported jams and unique pastries. Most delightful of all is meeting the enthusiastic and gracious hostess, Zeda and her husband, Dennis

Dining at this teahouse is an extraordinary experience, unlike any other you have had before or will ever have! The mere look of it is splendid! The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. It was such a special treat to be waited on by Zeda and Dennis, who are so thoughtful about their guests' wishes and really delightful to talk to. There is a tea for everyone and the accompanying foods are intricately prepared. The cost is well worth the memorable experience.

I had a great time at Chateau Chansons d'Amour. The sound of French music playing in the background made me feel like I was in a villa in France, but I was just in the Santa Cruz mountains! The owners are very gracious and wonderful people, the food and atmosphere make this place like a second home! I'm looking forward to coming back!

The first time I went I fell in love with it. It is such a nice, quaint setting. The owners are absolutely wonderful people who make you feel special and take time to talk to you. They are really easy to get along with and I really enjoy going. My friends will be throwing my baby shower there and I know I am hooked and will frequent this place often. The prices are reasonable too- definitely a bonus.
