This is one of my very favorite places to have lunch or a full tea! Menu changes seasonally, the weekly specials are always delicious. The variety of teas available outstanding! A favorite of many friends.

My Granddaughter and I went for lunch. The food was delicious and served elegantly. The tea, peach mist, was freshly brewed by our server. We were given a "tour" after our lunch. They had a very large variety of teas, and tea related gifts for sale. The hostess and servers were very gracious and friendly. We had a delightful afternoon.

Great ambience. Customer service was phenomenal. We visited from AZ in July '11 and were extremely impressed. Would definitely recommend for someone looking for a charming experience!

I was looking forward to my visit to Clara J's and was disappointed. Our server was very scattered, couldn't seem to handle a party of 6. We were not offered dessert before we got our bills and seemed to be rushed to leave since there was a baby shower setting up in our same room. The bills were confusing and had to be re-handwritten twice since we did want dessert and ordered after our bills came. The woman at the cash register had three calculators sitting on the desk and added my bill up a 3rd time by hand. Very expensive, rushed, confusing lunch. But the food and tea were very good. They also added automatically a 20% gratuity which I thought was very presumptuous and I was rather offended by that. I would not have tipped 20% had I had the chance to choose. It was very crowded and I felt like I was going to break anything I possibly bumped in to. I hope other have a great experience there - I'm not sure I'll go back.

Clara J's tea room is in a historic home. The setting is victorian. She serves loose leaf tea in teapots and offers many menu options. We have tried soups, sandwiches, scones and sweets. Afternoon tea is offered, with reservations. The atmosphere is very relaxing. A great place to meet a friend for lunch/afternoon tea or relax alone with a good book. Reservations are not required, although we usually give her a call when we are on our way and she always has a table ready for us. She also has a wonderful selection in her gift shop.

My sisters and I live out of town and wanted to have a bridal shower for our sister that lives in the area. This was the perfect place. All we had to do was send out the invtitations and show up it was perfect!! The bride had a wonderful time and I could not think of a better place to have had it, the food was wonderful and all so speical. I would do it all over again in a second, wish I had another event to plan for so I could do it there. Just a delightful perfect afternoon. Fresh flowers on the table. All we had to do was walk in, sit down and enjoy the day.

A new aquaintance and I met at Clara J's for lunch recently, on a very hot and humid day. For the first time ever in a tea room, I ordered the apricot iced tea; it was delicious! Presented in a cut glass goblet with a hint of mint, it was heavenly on such a summer day! I tried the cold berry soup with a chicken salad croissant and swooned; it was one of the best meals I had ever had, tea room or restaurant. The server made us feel like part of the family, and was as charming as the owner. This tea room is not to be missed! The decor is charming and the gift shop holds many treasures! Don't miss this one!

My girlfriend and I like to try different tea houses in the area. This tea house was average. The food was very heavy, several dishes had a LOT of cream cheese. The service was excellent. The tea house itself is beautifully decorate and is a great atmosphere. Would probably go again and try the lunch menu. Probably won't try the proper tea again.

My sister and I really enjoyed a wonderful proper tea at this tea room, where we were served a marvellous assortment of delicious tea sandwiches and desserts. Their apricot tea was just superb! We felt the owner, Rebecca, was very welcoming, warm, and helpful; and her staff provided us excellent table service. This was our first visit to this tea room, and we cannot wait to return!

I recently visited my hometown of Maumee after moving to Chicago a couple of years ago and was pleasantly surprised to visit the best thing to happen to Maumee in years. Clara J’s at 219 provided a lovely tea experience complimented by the best food served in town. Having experienced proper teas throughout the world, I am happy to say this is among the best. I am looking forward to making a trip back and I am excited to try a selection from the lunch menu they offer in addition to the proper tea.

While the atmoshpere is typical Victorian and the decor was lovly, the food and tea were disappointing at best. The menu sounds yummy and lush, but then you find that the 'stuffed cheddar celery stick' is cheese whiz on a one inch piece of celery, the 'broccoli snap' is broccoli slaw in a cup shaped taco chip and the 'fruit kabob' is nothing but a bit of garnish. The 'Ribbon Sandwich' was supposed to have chicken salad in it but none could be detected, and the bread was dry. The desserts were good and the signature lemon drop was yummy, but, again, the tiny one inch cookie for each person only left us wanting. The tea selection was slim, and the tea was stale and not properly prepared. Our whole group was disappointed. Doubt we will go back.

My sister-in-law and I recently had 'tea' at Clara J's and found the luncheon menu very impressive. Not was our meal deliciously exquisite, but the service was exceptionally pleasant and the tearoom was simply charming! I'm returning this weekend to give my daughter a real birthday treat.

LOVED it. What a vacation from reality this tea is. We all left feeling very relaxed. It was such a refreshing rejuvenating time to spend with friends sipping tea and nibbling upon the delights. Looking forward to returning again soon!
