Rich furnishings and the sweet sounds of a softly playing harp greet you as you arrive for Afternoon Tea. The scents of fine teas and the sounds of friendly conversation are wafting through the air, as you are beckoned by a delightful array of delicious tea sandwiches, including prosciutto ham, pacific cold smoked salmon and bay shrimp salad with watercress. A compliment of sweet pastries, cream covered scones and seasonal berries give the experience a distinctively British tea-time ambiance. Afterward, purchase a bag of your favorite tea and even your own set of The Westgate's china. Live harp music, champagne and wine available, for an additional charge.

Love to go to tea at the Westgate. They are by far the best tea served by a hotel in San Diego (and I have been to them all). I have been going to tea here for about 7 years and look forward to going back everytime.
Food was excellent but the dessert left some room for improvement.

Outstanding service in a beautiful hotel lobby. Live harp music was another nice touch. Presentation was lovely and the food was good, but portions were very small. The selection of teas was minimal but the desserts were delectable. Probably wouldn't visit regularly but it was a nice change.

The Victorian Tea Society of East County came here for a beautiful afternoon tea. The service was wonderful, the food fresh, and lovely, and the desserts were to die for. I loved the fact that they offer each lady her own pot of tea and you do not have to share. I also love the fact that they wait on you hand and foot. The only thing I think they need is a selection of black de-cafe teas. The Westgate is truly a gem. The hotel is first class all the way. I love it! My group and I are thinking of making it a yearly event! It was that good.

What a wonderful option in downtown San Diego. The Westgate is surprisingly peaceful and elegant in the midst of a somewhat hectic area. The service is fantastic and the harpist a lovely addition. My friend and I both enjoyed the ambiance, food and presentaation of tea. We definitely would return!

Last weekend my friends and family hosted an afternoon tea at The Westgate in honor of my baby shower. I am not exaggerating when I say that this was the most amazing tea, shower and hotel experience I've ever had (and many of my guests said the same). First, Gabriela Markova of The Westgate helped coordinate the event and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. We held this event in a private room and were charged a very nominal fee for the set up, and then only asked to pay the regular per-head price for our guests. The room was gorgeous, and the wait staff was impeccable! They wouldn't let us lift a finger, kept our tea flowing, and delivered top notch service throughout the event. The service was perfect, the sandwiches were wonderful, the scones were so fresh they were still hot, the petit fours were lovely and the tea was exceptional. I simply cannot say enough about our experience! I HIGHLY recommend The Westgate, no only for a lovely afternoon tea, but for a private event. I guarantee you, you'll feel like royalty!!

It seems we all have different expectations when visiting tea rooms. We enjoyed a delicious tea which was nicely presented in courses by a charming and efficient waiter. The food was generous and the price fair. Entertainment and beautiful ambiance added to a very pleasant tea time.

I have to say that I was horribly unimpressed and supremely disappointed in this tea room. Service was unacceptable and the food was inedible. Upon writing to the director regarding this he made no attempt at reconsilliation. This is not how a hotel of this caliper should be!
