I REALLY liked this place! I didn't rate the food cause I didn't try it, and to be fair, all I did was buy the tea in loose-leaf form. I got 4 teas and the guys helping me were really nice and didn't rush me at all, even though there was a bit of a line behind me. I got silver needle, pina colada (an herbal tea), green ginger chai, and a pear/green tea. I just brewed them at home and ALL of them tasted amazing, but the pina colada was the one that impressed me the most. Mixed with the silver needle, it tastes wonderful, better than any other citrus/fruit tea I've ever tried, and I've tried a lot. I don't remember what was in it though and forgot to grab a menu...and it's not on their website :(

ok, I admit, I am the asian tea Nazi and the fact that I can't get a decent cup of tea in the State drives me crazy. We went in the shop and thinking it might be promising since they have ALL the tea samples layout for you to smell. I judged the shop based on my stable, Earl Grey. Well, it is an ok cup of tea & lacking in some area. 1st of all, the tea is under steep, 2nd it's lacking of any flavor or bergamot. For a $4 cup of tea, I want TEA!
Seriously, tea shops... Please keep in mind, brewing water temp, tea roasting time, tea picking time, all effect your tea & taste. Please don't just blend something & give it a pretty name.

I found this tea shop on this website and decided to give it a try on Friday. Although they were out of the wuyi oolong tea I wanted to try, I sure wasn't dissappointed. The blonde behind the counter was very cheerful and warm even though she had a line to the door. She offered their Velvet oolong instead and it was phenomenal. The shop was busy and it took a while to get my tea, but that girl was just hopping around updating us all on when our tea would be ready. It was sure worth the wait. Next time I think I'll try going in the morning when it might be slower so I can sit there a while.

I have visited this shop a few times. Overall I've enjoyed my experiences. Great tea nice atmosphere and great balcony overlooking 23rd. Being a smaller shop it can seem a little crammed when busy. I never tried the food so I just gave it an average rating. I recommend checking it out, its well worth it.

In the posh shopping district of 23rd Avenue, Tea Chai Te offers a spot to relax and refresh. This is a comfy, casual shop with friendly service. A wooden grid displays small glass jars filled with tea you can sniff and choose. They carry a variety of 80 loose-leaf teas including black from India, China and Sri Lanka, green from Japan, oolong from Taiwan, yerba mate from South America, fruit infusions and 10 different kinds of chai. I tried two teas. I picked Vanilla Peach Apricot black and enjoyed it with milk and sugar. My friend chose iced Honeydew White; refreshing for a warm August day. The Honeydew White was delicious iced and I have since made it at home and it is ideal prepared hot as well. This teahouse is a good place to meet friends, bring your laptop or book and enjoy an extended living room.

I discovered this little tea place on NW 23rd when I returned to the Portland area from my time in Santa Fe and London. I mention this because Tea Chai Te exemplifies the sort of careful preparation and thoughtful presentation that I remember from my time abroad, and that I never thought I would see Stateside. They have a wonderful staff, quiet and warm space (wonderful for curling up with a hot tea in winter) and a wide range of current international magazines for customer reading pleasure. Their organic Assam is the best I've had in years and the staff is gorgeous and friendly. I highly recommend.

I was looking for a place to work from (with WiFi) and Tea Chai Te has both free WiFi and a great tea selection. The atmosphere is great. I plan to go back many more times. There is a great creperie downstairs if you are looking for some good food to enjoy with your tea. You can bring it into the Tea House.

The perfect tea place for the trendy NW 23rd. Located above the bustle of the street it is a pleasent retreat, but still retains the atmosphere that draws so many to the shopping. It is a clash of comfy side American design with Asian flair. A wonderful selection of over 80 loose leaf teas, an assortment of chai and bubble teas.
