It is a well known fact that next to plain water, the most popular drink on earth is tea, and we are honored to make many of the world's finest, rarest, and most highly acclaimed teas available to you at our tea houses and here online. It is our privilege to invite you to experience the tradition and artistry of one of lifes oldest and most rewarding pleasures - known simply as the way of tea.
San Francisco's world-famous Imperial Tea Court is renowned as an exclusive source for many of the most highly acclaimed and sought-after teas produced today. Magnificently appointed by visiting Chinese craftsmen and opened on the fourth of July, 1993 in Chinatown, Imperial Tea Court represents the life-long commitment to the art and tradition of all aspects of tea of co-founders Grace and Roy Fong. Their mutual love and respect for authentic, hand-crafted Chinese teas (and their difficulty in obtaining them in the United States) led to the initiation of direct relations with tea growers and producers in China and Taiwan, and ultimately to the establishment of Imperial Tea Court.

I came here after frequenting their Berkeley location. They are very focused on quality and proper preparation of their teas. The food is also incredible

Asian cuisine focus tea house, pleasant decor and fun locale. Portins and food quality were superb. Vast selection of traditional tea varieties with no cream /milk and sugar offered for service. You will definitely be experiencing classic asian tea service. Tea quality is premium. Presentation and knowledgability of the staff was exceptional. Limitations in menu and a humid dining room were the only drawbacks I experienced. For an outstanding asian teahouse themed experience - this is the place in San Francisco that I would recommend.

I was so excited to finally get there and the staff ignored me for about five minutes or
so and I was the only one there when they opened
so I roamed around and checked out the Tea display and book display until I was acknowledged then I purchased loose tea to take home and I told the lady I may return for a meal at some other time ,

This one is so far my favorite in San Francisco. It's on the border or Chinatown and North Beach. It's a very authentic chinese tea shop, and their gung-fu tea service is top notch. The selection is sometimes small but it's usually fresh and well selected.
It's also quiet and a peaceful break from walking around town.

ITC first introduced me to gongfu gaiwan and yixing tea service, and their shop remains the only location for convenient gongfu-for-gongfu's sake that I know of in California. The selection is on the light side--three to five varieties of any genre of tea--but the atmosphere impresses. I hear reports of bad service at ITC from others, but my experience was pleasant.
