Owner Eve Mickendrow has captured the essence of a Victorian tea room, with the relaxed atmosphere of the Scottish highlands. The burgundy covered tables are set with china and crystal she’s collected over the years.
The table settings are as unique as the patrons that walk through the door each day. In this, her 14th year as proprietress of Time Well Spent, the tea room has become a favorite of Summerville locals and visitors to the Charleston area.
From the Tea Room, to the Hydrangea House Wedding Chapel and Eve's Unique Gift Shop, Time Well Spent has something for everyone!

I really miss this tea room and I am sad that it closed. I used to visit this tea room often with my daughter. Now, we have to go elsewhere to find a place for afternoon tea. It was fun while it was there.

Time Well Spent Tea Room changed ownership from one family to another in June . It retains the wonderful food and charm but has been delightfully updated. The manager , Taylor Stanley-Wilson is a truly welcoming presence and her artistic attention to the decor brings a smile to everyone's faces. The popovers are unique and delicious with either strawberry or cinnamon-honey butter, the walnut chicken salad is a long standing favorite, and the quiches are fresh daily. But Taylor has also brought a modern twist to some of the foods. For instance her mozarella-pesto-chicken panini is amazing as is her butternut squash soup. Come in and see why people choose this low country restaurant for all of their celebrations from a quiet meal with a friend to a wedding of 75 guests and everything in between!

I have had afternoon tea on three separate occasions at Time Well Spent. Each time was fantastic. Everyone who works at this tea room is extremely nice. We were running late one time and they were understanding and accommodating. Each time we have gone, I have brought some children with me (ages 5 - 7) and they have been fantastic with the kids. I was hesitant to bring the girls with me, but they have special teas, foods and even tea cups and tea pots for the younger crowd.
There is a wide selection of teas, but they did seem to be lacking in the caffeine-free teas the last time I was there.
The food is delicious - especially the chicken salad which is to DIE for!
I drive over an hour to go to tea here. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys tea.

Not sure why there are not more reviews of this exceptional tea room! My mother and her mother visited Time Well Spent in 2003. This was my first time We were seated right in front of a REAL fireplace with a warm fire. We called in advance and ordered the full tea. Everything was perfectly prepared....the quiche and soup were tasty and very hot; not chilled or barely warm. The apricot scones were the perfect combination of crumbly, sweet, and cakey, and they were huge. The Devonshire cream was the real thing and there was a gracious plenty. Most tea rooms serve only a teaspoon or so for 4 people. While we were there a bit late in the afternoon, we did not feel rushed or pushed to finish up so they could close. Eve and Sherry took the time to chat with us. My hat is off to Eve for staying in business for 17 years! Time Well Spent is most certainly that!

Eve and her staff did such an outstanding job for my sister's bridal shower my sister decided to have her bridal breakfast there as well and it was beautiful! The food was fabulous and the service 4 stars, what a gem you have in Summerville, whenever I visit my sister we'll be sure to pay a visit to Eve and have our 'Time well Spent' Thanks again Eve for your special touches and service!! I have been attending several of the tea's and tea dinners here for a number of years. I can't say enough wonderful things about Time Well Spent. Last night I attended the Fire Fly Dinner. Absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere was so delightful. The food was fantastic, the music was wonderful. I could'nt have asked for a more perfect night or restaraunt to entertain my out of town guests. Thank you so much for making mine and my friends times well spent.

Time Well Spent is a charming little tea room. The food and teas are excellent, the gardens are beautiful, the staff receives an A+ in my book. If you have time you should also look around the gift shop at the front of the tea room. Very cute!

This is the best place for friends to gather and enjoy an afternoon with great ambience, great food, and wonderful service. The owner Eve cannot be friendlier. It is a place where you can have a piece away from the hectic world outside.
The Cappacino Delight is to die for.

The ambience of Time Well Spent makes you feel as if you were in another time. The decor was elegant but very creative especially in the Gift Shop. We had a large party, but the service was good. We were allowed to take our time. I had a wonderful ham and cheese quiche along with good quality, fresh fruit. When we finally left, I certainly felt it was time well spent with a recouperative power.

I belong to a group of ladies that call themselves The Lunch Bunch and eight of us had lunch and tea today. The food was fabulous. The rooms are set to reflect a very cozy setting. The service was excellent and the gift shop was great with many uniquie items. If you live near Summerville, SC it would be to you advantage to take a leisure lunch at this uniquie Tea Room. It rates very high on my list of places to have a nice lunch......

I have been enjoying this tearoom since it opened a number of years ago. The food (especially the tomato artichoke casserole!) is absolutly scrumptious and the desserts are so delectable. The presentation and atmosphere is creative and inviting. I cannot speak highly enough of Eve and her tearoom and I take every opportunity to turn my friends on to what they've been missing!

A Time Well Spent is an honored tradition that my mother-in-law, soon to be aunts and grandmother first celebrated with me 6 years ago now... at one time TWS even hosted a bridal consignment shoppe next door which I indeed found THE DRESS for my Victorian wedding! Time Well Spent is an excellent place for the ladies to relax and enjoy one another's company with proper teas and specialities! Cheers to the staff and owners! I have never written a review on the internet before but felt compeled to after seeing some reviews that a friend showed me. TIME WELL SPENT is exactly that:time well spent. I have been a loyal customer for years, and have never been disappointed. I have tried every tea room in the state and I keep coming back to Eve and her tearoom. After visiting others I can say 'What a difference the owner makes!!' The tables are set with different china on linen tablecloths. The silerware is silverplate...most of it belonging to her grandmother and mother-in-law. The food is out of this world and the service the best of any restaurant I have been to. And if you want to get in on the weekends, you had better have a reservation! Eve doesn't ask you to put a review on this page like some owners do...but I am asking you to. And if you want a shower, wedding, or party that is just wonderful...go to Time Well Spent. I should know since I have been to all of those there.
Experience Time Well Spent for yourself...you won't be disappointed.
