The Butterfly Cafe has the most delicious food, and they are so popular in Louisville that you often need a reservation. The shop has some very beautiful decor, too. I would say the only drawback is that they do not offer looseleaf teas, but they do have some delicious flavored iced teas in the warmer months.

The White Linen Tea Company, and attached Butterfly Garden Cafe is located on Bardstown Rd. in the Highlands district of Louisville, KY. The elegantly decorated cafe caters primarily to a female clientelle and offers light lunch fare, desserts and a small (usually two) selection of hot and iced teas during dining hours. The White Linen Tea room is really a small shop at the back of the building which sells some classic teawares, chitz decorations, and of course a moderate selection of loose leaf and bagged teas. The atmosphere and prime location are worth the visit to the cafe, which has become somewhat of a Louisville mainstay.

The food was good and they have a neat gift shop, but this is not a tea room where you can typically get an actual afternoon tea. I believe they have afternoon teas on occasion, but it isn't a standard menu item. Nice little place for lunch... just wasn't what I was expecting.

This week I hope to take another trip to Louisville, Kentucky to The White Linen Tea Company from my home an hour away. We are met with genuine southern hospitality and old English charm. The owner is very well versed in teas and always serves us in cheery fashion. Even though my friends and I are still learning about tea there's no hint of condescension from owner nor servers. Not only do I highly recommend but I bring new friends with me everytime!

The White Linen Tea Company and Butterfly Garden Cafe are for the most part one and the same. Now that their move is complete, it is absolutely beautiful...very pleasant atmosphere for ladies who lunch also.I have visited many times and ALWAYS receive professional service and the foods are delicious.Presentation is a feast for the eyes.Don't be put off by negativity, this is a favorite spot for everyone I know. And now with the additional tables, reservations are not always necessary.

We visited just prior to the move they are making to next door. We were so impressed with the gift shop and the variaty of teas offered that it was disappointing when only 4 teas were offered. The food was good, but felt a little hurried as a bridal shower was coming in after us. The second pot of tea I asked for was not brewed for long enough. Though the food was good, I don't know that this is one I will revisit. Loved the gift shop though.
